PS Plus: Preview December’s Free Game Lineup

The weather is getting colder, which means two things: 1) It’s time for delicious food and 2) it’s time to hibernate with videogames. We’re here to help keep you gaming this winter with December’s free PlayStation Plus titles.

You can keep warm but stay social with Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition, a fighting game that lets you finally figure out which DC heroes & villains would win in a fight, and Secret Ponchos, a wild west arcade-style duel where you’ll face off against friends or team up to take down other players.

Catch up on the Hitman series with Hitman HD Trilogy, which includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassins, Contracts and Blood Money, and experience the bizarre yet beloved Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut.

PS Vita owners get two Space Invaders-inspired games this month: Final Horizon and Titan Attacks. Fight off waves of space robots (they have spider tanks, gross) in tower defense title Final Horizon, or grab Titan Attacks!, which focuses on arcade-style gameplay but features some interesting elements that kick gameplay up a notch.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting December 2nd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video below.

  • What happened to Infamous First Light ? I thought that was announced for December ps plus ?? Sony is disappointing me

  • Just when I thought I was done with my PS3… free Hitman trilogy. I’m very okay with this turn of events.

  • @151GQxDrew
inFAMOUS First Light and The Swapper were announced for January.

  • I really really really having been wanting KNACK…all year.

  • Only good thing about this line up is I can trade in my copy of injustice for maybe $5-10 store credit towards another game. At least they gave PS4 a retail game this month… I say for the PS Plus line up for at least next 3 months it should be NO INDIES ALLOWED ALL RETAIL especially with the new assasians creed out and legos out… surely some retail AAA games can be given

  • Question WHY IS DRIVECLUB HEAVILY MARKETED… I hope SONY REALIZES that the CREW COMES OUT NEXT WEEK AND NO ONE WILL CARE DRIVECLUB EVEN EXISTED… I FEEL BAD for people who paid for that game… Sony should be giving away 3-4 PS PLUS games for the PS4 per month until FEB or March …

Why are you promoting a game that doesn’t work and you couldnt even get the free version out 2 months after its release… and by the way prior to its RELEASE IT WAS DELAYED a year….

  • I guess I will have to give Hitman a try now seeing as if you have had PS+ for awhile, you got all but one title free I think. Double Agent or something like that. Injustice was the first game I bought for PS4. I would like to see more free RPGs for Vita. Though I feel like I got my PS+ subscription’s worth thanks to getting six games a month. Most at least I gave a shot and a few I really enjoyed.

  • Still angry about how badly this system has failed to deliver. This garbage system is now in the guest bedroom and the xbox one is in full control of the living room – media and games. Not only can the PS4 not do DNLA or anything media related – it especially can’t do games. From the Driveclub debacle to the ****** code that runs the OS – this system is 100 percent trash. Thanks for deliver on the driving games has promised you imbeciles.

  • Deadly Premonition ?!! I love that game can’t you tell by my avatar ?!

  • I’m getting a PS4 on the first of December. So I can’t wait.

  • Looks like a good bunch of games. Would’ve been great to get Injustice on PS3 ;)
But it will be waiting for me when/if I get a PS4

  • definitely the best lineup that igc has had in quite some time.

  • The stupid and ungrateful cannot be satisfied.

Sony, keep doing what your doing.

I love the diversity of plus, I often find a game I otherwise may have missed and frequently enough some of these games people complain about are actually good.

I’m sad to see so many people throw a fit. The price we pay for plus is given back tenfold.

Maybe make a feature if you complain about how bad the free games are then your account doesn’t get access to them. Problem solved.

  • 3 straight months of indie games for vita!? ouch :( really hurts…seriously. Damn it!

  • Well, it’s a better lineup than last month, though that isn’t saying much. Personally, I’ll be finally trying Deadly Premonition, which I’d been eyeing for a while. And while I already have Injustice: Gods Among Us: Gold Edition for PS4 and Vita (after having the regular on Wii U and getting annoyed with lack of DLC), I have to say that it’s an amazing game for fighters and those who did alternate universe comic stories. Hell of a good game for those who don’t have it yet. Too bad it isn’t cross-save or cross-buy between Sony’s three systems, though.

  • Great lineup. If I didn’t already own Deadly Premonition, I’d be even more excited. I’m glad more people are going to get to try this title. It’s always been a favorite of mine.

  • Hitman HD, I’m definitely going to play this trilogy

  • Looks like a swagger lineup. I wish i had a decent internet connection to DL this stuff

  • Maybe i stop Sub PS+

Only Have Vita and got many indie =.=

  • First time in a year there’s been a half decent lineup in the IGC. Vita’s still getting a whole lot of nothing. I’d rather see old PS1 and PSP games given away or make PS2 classics playable on Vita and I’d be happy with buying those for on the go. Or, I don’t know, you could work on bringing every PS1/PSP game possible to Vita for purchase. I’d be happy with that too. Crisis Core + Kingdom Hearts BBS pop up in my head without even trying. There’s tons more though. Get on it. We have money. We want to give it to you. Not everybody waits exclusively on the IGC for their games and are more than happy to buy good ones if you just made them available digitally since the Vita doesn’t have the PSP’s UMD drive

  • Final Horizon looks great. I do like to see games that aren’t action games! I hope it works on my Vita TV, because some of the games I’ve gotten from Plus *coughDisgaea3cough* don’t work with it….

  • Nice. After all of those disappointing months, we finally getting something good for once. If you guys think that was bad, you should look at Club Nintendo. They repeat rewards and it’s worst than indie games.

@DJ_Tomato Do you know what nobody cares about? Your opinion. You should be grateful that there’s PS4 AAA titles now. Good, then don’t resubscribe then because you’re a disgrace to the PS community.

Same goes for you, Rezolution. If you’re really an adult, you should act like one. Don’t even know why I accepted your friend invite in the first place.

  • Deadly Premonition was on sale for like 5$ a month or so ago…..

  • Yes! Finally! It’s been since February that the lineup was this good with games I don’t already own. THANK YOU! Looking forward to the PS4 lineups in 2015 too now that it’s been long enough that AAA games will be added to the mix. Kinda wish there were less of these Indie games and more PS Classics though like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Legacy of Kain, etc.

  • Vita users are getting nothing again.
Great. My Plus is expired anyway. The last time I re-subbed it was because the auto-renewal messed it up.

  • Gratitude. Some of you should give it a try. It’s pretty cool.

Video games aren’t important enough to complain about.

    Did you know that?

  • @ RE4LNOiZE_42

Nobody HAS TO do anything. Thus, the incentive for perpetually re-vamping the subscription to be attractive, evermore. To offer “value” could only be a good thing for all parties involved, long-term.

You’d pay for an indie, or any game, if you want it bad enough. There’s no guarantee that any game you have in mind will be added to the IGC in the future. Additionally, you support (and thank) the game makers whose game you’re enjoying, which continues the chain of “paying it forward”, leading to possible benefits down the road, currently unseen.

Are you suggesting that people bought Vitas to play PSone classics and PSP games? Are you sure you’re not just expressing your personal desires while recklessly lumping in unknown entities to fabricate the appearance of widespread consumer interest? The indies being offered are more relevant since they’re newer and easier to obtain contracts for, while product popularity also continues to play a big role in any service’s appeal.

  • Excited to finally play secret ponchos. It’s been long time waiting. Also interested in checking out Titan Attacks.

  • Better lineup than last month. I like the Vita offerings. Why put Deadly Premonition in the lineup? I just picked that up on PSN not too long ago in a sale. I’d think from a marketing standpoint, putting something on sale and following that up by adding it to Plus is a great way to discourage people from buying games. This isn’t the first time either. It happens quite a bit with other games. Definitely a practice that needsxto stop. In essence, it rewards the customers who buy less games.

Aside from that, the lineup is good.

  • ABOUT TIME!!!! Now I don’t feel like I am getting Ripped off as bad paying for a forced PS4-PS+ sub. New 2 game format is terrible and your online multiplayer service is just wrong, but despite that; it’s unreliable, scary(Constant Hack Danger), And it’s overall Quality has taken a nose dive since the format change from summer 2013…. And PS-Now is a waste of resources and nothing but a Niche service that takes focus away from where your attention should really be.

Just my 2 cents and opinion on matters

  • Things PS4 Does right/great:

    Sharing
    Streaming
Best Console Graphics, *BUT already starting to become dated*
    Best Controller Concept to date
Support Indies, **But Focuses MUCH too heavily on them**
    Nice Interface
SHARE PLAY-One of the FEW truly Next-Gen features

Things Sony and PS4 are doing wrong:

Charging same price for Digital as Physical-disc based products
    HEAVY focus on Indie Games
    Fix Online
Make Next Gen Feel Next Gen, PS4 already is starting to feel dated, along with other next gen consoles too
Mandatory PS+ is a JOKE, My INTERNET bill is my payment to play online
Drive Club was a Train Wreck! what Ubisoft did with Assasin’s creed; that’s how you make an apology for a game that should have Never been released
1st party Support is a JOKE
Broken 3rd party games- Not completely Sony’s fault, but slightly yes
Controllers are made with cheap materials and their battery life just BLOWS
Console 3rd party exclusivity- is a PROBLEM on BOTH MS and SOny. Fans LOSE here, not win
No External HDD, Yes we could replace our HDD and that’s great, but External is Better
No Video Files support- Why cant we play our own movies on a Flash drive??? what;s the big freaking deal???

  • this looks like a GREAT month to me. I’ve considered buying both Injustice and Hitman Trilogy in the past but never pulled the trigger, and was never able to find Deadly Premonition in stores. looking forward to this batch!

  • It’s getting pretty good, I only miss better games for Vita, but keep the good work.

Are you waiting to announce th Flash Sale? In playstation blog BR they’ve already announced.

  • You pay $50 a year for Plus, get free games all year long, and complain when it’s not something you want. Not to mention you get, at least, 2 free games across 3 consoles. Who cares if the save doesn’t work like it’s suppose to or you can’t cross buy on a certain game. You just want something to complain about. If they don’t release COD one month, than go buy it. (Cause secretly we all know this what you want) Besides, it wouldn’t make sense to give away a game like that away because there is no money in giving away a new game. Just be happy with what you get before Sony decides to say screw it and not give us anything at all because you all want to complain like lititle children.

  • Saweeeeeeeeeet!!

  • Better line up than last month for PS3

  • One of the main reasons I quit paying for Plus was this, very poor games on this last three months of 2014. C’mon Sony, what happened to those old days when PS+ gave away titles like Tomb Raider, DMC, Metro, Outlast, Bioshock Infinite???

I’m looking forward to go back, hope Jan 2015 gets better, definitely will save those bucks for December… =)

  • I don’t care about the Plus games as much as others……other than the fact they shouldn’t have a game on sale and then put it on Plus shortly afterwards. The reason I say that is because it’s a foolish way to do business and a way to irritate bigger spenders. In general Plus tends to reward the consumers who make the least purchases. I get my $50 worth per year just from the discounts.

  • @ PrimeroIncognito,

Well, to play online on PS4, you don’t have a choice to pay for PS+. That’s what I meant. Sure, no one forces you to pay. But if you don’t, no online for you. And most people nowadays want to play online. If you want to play online on the PS4, you don’t have a choice. Before, PS+ needed to make people WANT to pay for it by offering great deals. Now, since people need to pay for it to play online on PS4, there’s less of a need to make the other aspects of the service as valuable as they were before. Business 101.

And about indies, I understand why someone only gaming in the Sony ecosystem would buy some from PSN. But see, I have a PC, which usually gets all the indies that comes out on PSN and even more, and are usually available for less. I also have an Android phone and Tablet, and there also are indies applenty on those. And again, less expensive.

People bought Vitas to play something different than what they could already play on their smartphone or tablets. IT IS a different product. But if most games that get released on it are ports of already existing mobile games, or similar games that we can already find on other mobile platforms, then what’s the point of buying a Vita?

  • @ PrimeroIncognito,

My point, is that the if the only thing we’re going to get from now on on the Vita are indies (and like I previously said, I love them too), what makes the Vita different than, let’s say, any Android or iOS mobile devices that often have the same games? Or pretty similar ones, at least? And more of them, and cheaper too?

Sure, the Vita has physical controls. But there are now so many options out there for Android or iOS to get physical controls too, that it’s not the argument it once was.

Any company that would plan on selling a new console to offer what’s already availabe on other devices people already have, would NEVER get funding as anyone will tell them it’s a very bad business plan. Yet, Sony seems to have shifted the nature of the Vita from “console-quality games in your pocket” to exactly that.

I love indies, retro-gaming and a varied game experience too. But if I didn’t already have a Vita, right now, it wouldn’t even be an option in my mind if I was looking for a portable gaming experience.

  • Since I am a Playstation Plus member, I was hoping that I would be able to download Injustice Gods Among us for PS3 since I do not have the money to buy a PS4 and PS plus is great for my gaming budget. We have not received an ACTUAL AAA PS3 game through PLUS for a while now. I cannot see why I wouldn’t be extended this courtesy of downloading a game that SONY has already paid a lot of money to license for PS PLUS. I would really appreciate a SONY rep clarifying this for me.
    Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Infamous Last light? What happened? The big boss said this was a December Plus free title. Oh I know Santa Boss is gonna give it to us on Christmas day along with are Plus copy of Drive Club , which was promised as a complete free game by Jack T. The old boss on PS4 day one. Yaha that happened. Not. I know alots happening real fast PlayStation TV. Very cool gadget. Also the upcoming PlayStation VUE streaming on demand and monthly TV service. That’s gonna kill the cable provider. All the new title’s comeing out in the next year it’s mind numbing. PlayStation has there plate full on this thanksgiving. That’s why we are number one. And we are thankful for all your hard work and dedication on this thanksgiving day. And as a parent we promise things and don’t always deliver those Promise’s as timely as we would like. As is in the gameing and entertainment industry but we really try to do the best we can to deliver on all those promises. Happy Holidays from your customer ambassador to the PSN. PSN id:bombbreath Happy Thanksgiving to all. Sony make.believe

  • @bombbreath – The sneak peak blog post clearly said Infamous First Light and The Swapper were for January. You’d know that had you actually read it.

  • I wish you guys would just flat out say that you don’t care about the vita anymore, I love the system but it really does not seem like sony does. With titles like that there is no incentive for someone who does not have a vita to pick one up.

  • The past couple months have been really horrible and I have complained but this month looks pretty good. Hitman Trilogy HD looks pretty good… (I have Absolution and never played the others). People go crazy about Deadly Premonition. Lot of people really love it and some people absolutely hate it. Weird, funny, scary, twin peaks? Worth a try but I gotta admit the graphics look pretty bad. As for Injustice… I don’t have a PS4 yet but I got the PS3 game and it is very good.

Now give us some awesome black friday sales!

  • @PhantomOranges Sony would never admit to something like that. If they did care at all about the Vita, they would at least put more effort into advertizing the thing and put some decent first party titles on it, but unfortunately they just keep treating it like a glorified controller for the PS4.

  • I don’t own any of these games so I have to say I am super excited for next month. I honestly couldn’t be happier with the way PS+ is going. I don’t expect every month to be tailored to me, but it is awesome when the planets align and I get 6 games I’ve never played before for free :)

  • Yes, been waiting for secret ponchos since the E3 reveal. looks so fun

  • I bought Injustice when it was brand new, what do I get instead…? :p

  • Finally a good month.
