PlayStation Plus: February’s Free Games

This is a pretty awesome month for PlayStation Plus members with a variety of quality titles across PlayStation platforms entering the service.

On PlayStation 4 you’ll receive one of the coolest games from last year – the critically acclaimed strategy/action RPG Transistor. PS4 owners will also get Apotheon, an action platformer set in Greek mythology, the day it releases on PlayStation Store. PlayStation 3 owners can explore the ins and outs of Tokyo with Yakuza 4 or sneak about The City stealing what you can in Thief. PlayStation Vita owners can see how many generations of champions it takes to beat the quirky Rogue Legacy and jump around as a little boy with a big gun (not so much for shooting enemies as it is launching you around) in Kick & Fennick, which is also releasing day and date in PlayStation Plus.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting February 3rd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video below. When you watch, you may notice that the voice over has changed a bit, and my friend Ryan Clements is narrating instead of me. He’ll be handling the Plus communications from now on, including this post in the future, so thank you guys for all the support over the past couple years!

  • I loved Transistor, glad people get to play it. And damn, Yakuza? Awesome!

  • AWESOME line-up! So excited for Transistor, Apotheon and Rogue Legacy! THANK YOU! :D

  • @Rezznak, so why don’t you just buy it again when your Plus sub runs out? You don’t end up spending any more or less money.

  • Awesome month! Transistor, Yakuza, Rogue Legacy… wow

  • I’ve never played a Yakuza game before. It looks interesting. Thief is also looking good. Nice lineup.

  • Excellent, Thief and Yakuza 4 are games I have wanted.

  • One game of interest and already own Rouge Legacy. :(

These last couple of months have been a bummer.

  • Wow a lineup of games that I actually love all of! very much looking forward to getting these next week. Thank you for such an awesome month!

  • Excellent month as usual. For PS4 owners, Transistor has been a very successful game and loved by many. It is worth trying.

  • Vita lineup looks fun; two games I’m not familiar with at all.

  • Good call. Get people hyped up before Yakuza 5!

  • Seriously, thank you so much, guys. That line up is freakin’ awesome!

  • Great month for me, Transistor, Apotheon, and Roghe Legacy are fantastic!. Thank you.

  • What an awesome month!!!! Dont understand why theif was ps3 and not ps4 but whatever. I can’t wait to play transistor and rogue legacy.

  • Thanks!

Rogue Legacy makes my Feb complete. I’ll take it! Good thing I didn’t buy it on December. Hahaha! Ehem.

I don’t even know Kick and Fennick, but it looks okay.

  • Yay, Transistor! And i’ve been looking forward to playing Apotheon. Rogue Legacy is great, too. I’ve been playing that forever. XD

  • Transistor was my GOTY of 2014. Such a brilliant game. Glad more people get to play it.

  • Sweet awesome month I don’t have any of these games can’t wait thanks for a great birthday gift every year! That’s why I love PlayStation plus! Bring on these great games!

  • not very happy that I will play Thief on my PS3 instead of my PS4… I think this is a miss opportunity to beef up the IGC in the PS4.

  • How about giving us the fricking driveclub already??
You know what would be great also? A STABLE AND RELIABLE psn so
We can play online, considering that we HAVE to pay to use it and that sony promised Driveclub i dont think my requests are outlandish

  • Wow, Great month! Thank you guys!

  • Is Driveclub PS PLUS DEAD???

  • I don’t think anyone else has said it, but Happy Birthday Ryan!!!

Great month, I’m looking forward to several titles.

  • Whoop. I almost bought transistor, glad it’ll be free.

  • Some great games, but I already own them ?

  • Please keep this good igc trend, 2015 is really shaping up nice and slow. More vita love please :D

  • I’m very pleased with February lineup! Although I don’t own a PS4 yet, one of the first games that I will dive into once I get one will definitely be Transistor. Love the art style and the music. Although the gameplay doesn’t look too deep, the art direction of Apotheon has me intrigued. I do own a PS3 and Vita and I have to say that I’m pretty pumped about the offerings there! Thief looks similar to Dishonored, which I loved. Although it didn’t get stellar reviews, it seems like the type of game I would really like. I’ve never tried a Yakuza game and this would be a great time to give it a try (for “free-99″…lol). The game that excites me the most on this list has to be Rogue Legacy though! I’ve heard nothing but stellar things about this game and here it’s replayability is through the roof. Kick and Fennick also looks cool, although I don’t know much about it. Best part is I don’t own any of these games currently, so I feel like I’ve made out like a bandit. Thanks Playstation Plus team!

  • Unfortunately I already bought Transistor around last Thanksgiving.

Thief is a title I really liked (played all previous ones on PC) but I kinda wanted to play it on PS4.

Anyway, have to give credit to SONY as this is a very encouraging month.

  • My PS3 hard drive has a 750GB HDD and it is full.
My PS4 500GB HDD is nearly full already also.

Dear Sony, Please suggest a way to retain the already incredible games we have and attain the wonderful games you are providing us.

I do not want to miss out on new releases or PS+ gifts due to lack of HDD space.

ugh, would’ve really rather BOUGHT Apotheon so when plus runs out I CAN STILL PLAY IT. Fanfreakingtastic…..”

So, uh, buy it once (if) your PS+ runs out?

  • A Great month for PS4 owners!

  • Am I the only one disappointed by these games (PS4)? Thought we had turned a corner with the last 2 months offerings. Murdered: Soul Suspect, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Metro: Redux, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Thief, Knack, Killzone. All of these can be bought for £10-£20. All have been out for ages. Can we please start getting the same service that the PS3 is getting?

  • This is a Brilliant line up! Thank you SONY ^_^

  • Catherine would be REALLY REALLY great – and Europe already had it.

  • *sigh* I can’t believe how many free side scrolling games I own for the PS4, it is really getting on my nerves. Let me tell you Sony, if I wanted to play side scrolling games, I would play my 3DS!, not my brand new console built for 1080p/60FPS games. It’s 2015, how about some REAL games. Seriously, it’s like owning a Ferrari but you’re only allowed to drive it 20 MPH.

  • WHERE IS DRIVECLUB + EDITION????????

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH SONY!

  • Would get Thief if it was on PS4, plus I only have a PS4 save file.

  • This is frustrating. Could they not have given us the free 10% discount weekend this weekend AFTER they’d announced the line-up. I bought Transistor and now its free… pretty disappointed tbh.

  • Awuhhhh?!?!?!?!? This is awesome!!!! I’ll have to make sure my PS Plus sub last throughout Feb so I can play Transistor, Apotheon, Yakuza 4, Rogue Legacy, and Kick and Fennick! Such a good lineup!

  • I’m no longer buying games from you. You put a game on sale and then give it away a couple weeks later. I guess it’s my fault for actually paying for an indie game for a Sony system.

  • I just bought Transistor last weekend :(

  • happy bday ryan! hope that you have a funtastic month! on topic, nice line up definitely gonna try transistor, apotheon and yakuza 4

  • Woah free Vita games? I’m surprised you guys haven’t dropped them from Plus yet.

  • Excellent selection of games. Thank you… Though I wouldn’t say no to at least an update on Drive Club.

  • free is free, appreciate whats given freely.
    that being said:
    2 more crappy indie games…..
SONY, PLEASE CONSIDER – psone games, psp games, minis even.
and there are plenty of good PS VITA games THAT ARE NOT INDIE TITLES!
I have pretty much given up, so…….
HERE’S TO A YEAR OF INDIE FREE GAMES.

  • so really no driveclub…..

  • I’ve got a chubb from this lineup.

  • The only games I own are Thief (PS4) and Yakuza 4 (PS3). This is a fantastic month!!!

  • Now we come great games
