The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 2/24/2015

Ryan Clements's Avatar Posted by Senior Specialist, SIEA Social Media

The Drop

A new nightmare in the iconic horror series is about to begin. The episodic experience Resident Evil: Revelations 2 arrives this week on PS4 and PS3, unleashing four weeks of chilling stories. Ready your nightlights.

The first episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, titled Penal Colony, launches this week. Claire Redfield, one of the few survivors of the Raccoon City incident in 1998, has since joined a non-government organization named Terra Save, which works to help victims of biological weapons. But during an event at Terra Save’s headquarters, Claire and her co-workers are kidnapped by an unknown force and moved to a deserted island. A really scary one.

Prepare for the staple chills, gore, and intrigue that come with the Resident Evil series as Claire and Moira Burton struggle to survive in this new chapter of evil.

If that sounds a bit too scary, fear not: there are plenty more games coming to PlayStation this week, including the highly entertaining (and hilarious) Starwhal, which pits friends together in epic narwhal battles. In space. Oh yes, it’s all too real.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

htoL#NiQ might be the worst title ever for a video game. How do you pronounce that?

    Ryan Clements said:

    February 22nd, 10:20 am

I’m no expert, but I think it’s a stylized version of the Japanese title, Hotaru no Nikki.

I think the header image is from Life is Strange, which led me to believe that Episode 2 is releasing this week as well (is it?).

Anyways, can’t wait for Hyperdevotion Noire – getting my Limited Edition tomorrow!!

PS Vita Resident Evil Revelations 2, Releade Date: 13/03/2015 and also available as physical in Middle East, already pre-order that. Don’t know about other regions. So I wait for Vita version only.

DarkBattler67 said:

Heck yeah! Definitely going to pick up Resident Evil Revelations 2 on my Vita this week! Wait, what’s that you say? It’s not out yet for the Vita? Sony sure made a big deal about bringing it to Vita and can’t even release it the same day as other consoles. Man, I’m just so glad I spent 300$ on a handheld that’s barely supported.

I’m just curious, Limbo says that it’s PS4 – Digital… but it doesn’t say anything about being a Cross-Buy title. Is it a Cross-Buy title or does it have to be repurchased even if you have the PS3/PSVita version?

As it happens, Noire’s game exists as a result of the first popularity contest run by Compile Heart over in Japan a few years ago, after the first two PS3 Nepgames were published. Noire/Black Heart finished in the top spot, and was given the lead role in this game as a result.

Ironically, despite Noire being the CPU of Lastation, the Gamindustri/Gamarket stand-in for PlayStation, she herself represents console hardware – as in, the ones you plug into a television and use a controller to operate. Her younger sister Uni more closely covers the PSP and Vita, yet she isn’t actually in this game…

Which brings up a curious point: which one of the two would cover the PlayStation TV? It is still a (micro)console, yet one which holds the innards of a handheld.

As for the game itself, it was developed by Sting, who have done titles like Yggdra Union in the past.

More recently, a new character poll held late last year had Blanc/White Heart finish at number 1, so the odds are that she’ll be the next character to get her own spinoff title. (Given that she represents a rival game company’s console hardware, it would be ironic if her game was still published on a Lastation… I mean PlayStation platform.)

Already have Resident Evil Revelations 2 pre ordered. In case some of you don’t know, if you already pre ordered the game you will get both the PS3 & PS4 versions, just not on the release date. Also if you guys want to discus about the game plot (just like the producers intended it to be by making the game on a episodic format) be sure to follow the official thread on the official PlayStation Forum.

Japanese titles are making less sense by the day. Is it bad localization, or have the designers just lost their minds?

I’d like to try out Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late someday, it is cool that it is being released…because, i like to collect arcade fighting game ports (* ‘w’*)

I still need dengeki bunko fighting climax and blazblue but i think it’s difficult for me to afford full retail price at the moment, but definitely sometime down the road…then my collection’ll be pretty much complete! With all of these past sales, i’ve been able to stock up on most of the games i wanted with very little money which is really helpful.

I just bought Limbo from a flash sale about a month ago if even that long and now a PS4 version comes out of no where? If it’s not cross-buy that sucks.
