PS Plus: Free Games for March 2015

Another collection of excellent games joins PlayStation Plus this month, and you’ve come to the right place for details!

Starting things off on PS4 is Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee — New ‘n’ Tasty! This side-scrolling adventure reboots the PlayStation classic with new visuals, new sound, enhanced controls, and even more dark humor than before. Also coming to the PS4 lineup is Valiant Hearts: The Great War. This colorful puzzle game carries with it a heavy subject matter, as it follows four intersecting lives (and a loyal canine companion) during the first World War.

On PS3, gamers with PS Plus can download the critically-acclaimed Papo & Yo, alongside the wit-inducing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments. And on PS Vita, watch out for OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood and CounterSpy.

These games will be available for Plus members when PlayStation Store updates later today.

  • @ #533 Apparently Dishonored was supposed to be one of this month’s games, but Bethesda must’ve backed out last minute, so SCE has to replace it (Most likely Papo y Yo is the backup seeing as its the oldest game here)

  • Dang, I already own most of these. Valiant Hearts was excellent! Counterspy was fun too!

  • Neko_Majin_Sama_

    Looks good, downloading these asap.

  • A very unique lineup. I like it. Exellent Job, Sid. :)

  • Finally the wait is over, great line up. My kids and family loved the great story driven ww I game Valiant Hearts. We bought it day one. We are also thrilled with Counter Spy lots of great action and that cold war spy thriller feeling that just brings great fun for the whole family. Now olie olie 2 very addictive game play either on the PS4 or vita, you won’t be able to put it down. Now is time for a great game revamped for PS4 Abe’s Odessy you will love this heart felt adventure great story fun gameplay great family fun for all. As for Poppa & Yo this is a great adventure puzzler that will keep you thinking and scratching your head all night and all day long. Sherlock Holmes is a great detective story game that will keep you amateur sluths going for some time thank you fellow PSN family members for being patient for March Plus line up.:-) At PSN only the finest family and home entertainment is offered and available. PlayStation Network and PS4 Entertainment Complete. Growing and expanding your entertainment daily. Thank you from your customer ambassador to the PSN Gregory S. Napier PSN I’d: bombbreath any question or comments contact me on PSN.:-)

  • P.S. Sid S you are doing a great job keep it up.:-)

  • I understand that these games are being given for free but to be honest the games need to be changed, these are games no one would have ordinarily bought so why wouldn’t they notice no one wants it, im very disappointed with this month’s selection of ps4 games and I have been since infamous first light was given.

  • Playstation Plus subscription really seems worthless with crap like this last couple months. You do say on the subscription details that IGC includes games with Metacritic score of 70 and higher but yet one of the games in the list above barely gets it to 70 and some others are just above 70. Aside from the fact that IGC nowadays, like said below, is INDIE Game Collection.

I only care because of your false advertising and because I feel like I get absolutely nothing for my subscription, as most games I want to play I already bought before they get in to IGC… Have fun with my money Sony!

  • Some good games but no AAA game again. What’s happening to PS Plus? I’m disappointed, really.

  • Kinda getting tired of all the side scrolled

  • When are we getting Driveclub?

  • This is another great lineup! I’ve been wanting to get Valiant Hearts for so long and now I just got it with PS Plus! Perfect!
I never played Oddworld, so this will be the time for me to try the franchise and see if it works for me. Counterspy also seems like one of those really cool “rebound” games to play in between long format games.
Other than that, though my PS3 is already retired, I’ve played both Papo & Yo and Sherlock Holmes, and let me tell you, this is a great PS3 lineup. Sherlock is a great game and everyone should at least do one case.
    Thank you, PS+!

  • Wow! Pretty cool lineup for free games! I’m looking forward to playing Valiant Hearts, Sherlock Holmes and CounterSpy. :)

  • That’s why I love Sony! :D

  • @#551 Man seriously? Dishonored would have salvaged this lineup alone. Oddworld is the only thing that interest me here.
Valiant Hearts seems like the type that’s too story focused to cover up shallow gameplay and I already had that with Transistor last month(Which put me to sleep. Tran’s ambience was great and all, but everything else was so poorly executed. I honestly didn’t care for Red at all and she’s the character you’re playing as.) Olli olli seems kinda cool, but I don’t think it’s my cup of tea.

  • Would have been nice to have Sherlock free for the PS4 as well. ?

  • if your like me and papo isnt showing up on your system got to the store on the internet and “purchase” it there

  • “+ greggysmalls1 on March 3rd, 2015 at 11:33 am said: This is unacceptable. The huge delay in announcing the line up only draws attention to the lacking quality. The competition is offering three AAA games this month. How can you even announce this line up with a straight face sony!?”

“Microsoft is offering Rayman Legends for Xbox One for the entire month with Tomb Raider (2013) available for Xbox 360 from March 1 – 15 and Bioshock Infinite available from March 16 – 30 on Xbox 360.”

While we may not have gotten Rayman Legends free, since we’re discussing PS+ you could’ve gotten it for both PS4 and Vita for less than $20. Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite are games that were given for free via Plus a long time ago. Plus, you could have gotten a deep discount for Tomb Raider Definitive edition. As you can see greggy, Microsoft is late to the party.

That being said, I’d personally like for PSone/2 classics to return to Plus if possible.

  • Really happy with these. Make the worth owning all 3 systems. I’m really liking the Vita now. Growing on me. :)

  • We had to wait for a line up like this?
    This is truly unacceptable.
Why do we keep getting indy games across the board?
I can understand why we get them for the PS4 seeing that there isn’t enough games to give for free.
And the Vita selection is truly abysmal…
Thanks but no thanks for this month.

  • actually all we get is a papo trial apparently

  • A few years ago you introduced the PS4 as gamer inspired. I’ve been a gamer for about two decades now and gamer inspired is not what I’d use to describe the PS4. I’d call it money inspired or greed inspired. Gamers want backwards compatibility. Gamers would even settle for rebuying games for cheaper prices on older consoles digitally. Not being able to play PS3 games, especially when purchased digitally is unacceptable. Instead of having to pay $20 to rent a game for 90 days why not buy the game permanently for $20-$30? What if I can’t stream a game because I lost my internet connection? People are more likely to buy the new galaxy phone just because it’s new and you can keep the play store than to get a new galaxy with better resolution but it takes away the play store. That a what PS4 did. Gave you slightly better graphics and a few years wait to have a couple of games worth playing. Gamer inspired is backwards compatibility and freedom. Take a poll and see if gamers agree with me.

@ #518, what are you talking about, I tried OlliOlli 2 on PSTV, it does work.”

    Well that’s strange….

It says this when you try to download it:

“THIS CONTENT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PLAYSTATION TV.
    TO QUIT, PLEASE PRESS “CANCEL”

I’ve tried multiple games that display that message and none of them have in fact worked for me.

It’s also unlisted on the Official Sony PSTV compatibility list, though I’ve come across others which aren’t on this list, but DO WORK. However those games did not show the incompatibility dialog.

Are there others from the Instant Game Collection (PS Vita) which display as incompatible, but do work that you know of?

I didn’t bother testing many of them because of the message.
I’d like to play games such as; Wipeout 2048, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Escape Plan, flOw, Gravity Rush, Germinator, Sine Mora, Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath HD, Unit 13, Surge Deluxe, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, Metrico, PS All-Stars Battle Royale, Kick and Fennick, among others.

  • Indie crap again.

  • Four PS4 games and 2 Vita games I was considering make it a very nice month. Sure, we’d all like AAA games, but four games on PS4 is great and Valiant Hearts, Counter Spy, and Oddworld got good reviews. I can’t see any reason why someone would complain about this month, let alone be very, very pleased. Four PS4 games is very nice, no matter what they are, and here we have a very nice selection.

  • GREAT selections. Personally, I have been waiting for Valiant Hearts, Counterspy, and OlliOlli2. I love these “indie” selections that have lower time commitments. THANK YOU SONY (and Sid)!

  • ThirdEyeVision55

Great job, Sony! 4 free games on PS4?! I’m very excited, and grateful. Keep this type of stuff coming!

  • Excellent

  • I’ve gotta admit, I’m pretty excited about Oddword: Abe’s Oddysee. I loved this game when I was younger. And that Valiant Hearts game should be great if the story is half as good and dramatic as it boasts. I love a game with a deep story. Thanks!

  • Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee is one of my favorite PS1 Games ever.
    Nice one Sony!

  • Boo boo boo… us with the ps3 got shafted this month. Everyone keeps saying these games are free but I don’t know about them but I had to pay for the plus membership each month. I would be happy with just one good game and nothing more. Just because we get 3 mediocre games doesn’t make it worth it. Another month like this and I would seriously consider not updating my membership

  • Awesome lineup!! Thanx a lot!!! :)

  • Wow more garbage after forcing us to pay for online. Thanks for nothing Sony.

  • Well, I got to tell you that I have no Sherlock Holmes at monthly games list :( Why?

  • I didn’t have papo & yo on my list either I had to search for it. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one disappointed this month. Gonna have to spend more money now if I want to play a new game that is worth a crap

  • I am not seeing the new free games for March in my account!

  • Great month. Tyvm .

  • Please can someone explain to me why we only get indiegames ? Why no sherlock holmes for the ps4. Will only xbox get the good games ? You forget that most people dont want to play high mind indie games they want stuff like knack. Easy to play with good graphics. For me its by far the worst month ever and i have fear about the future of ps+, will we only get indiegames.
What about wolfenstein, murdered, sherlock holmes , knack, thief , need for speed rivals , little big planet 3, tomb raider , sleeping dogs , killzone , nba2k14, mlb , lords of the fallen, bf4, assassins creed4, watchdogs, spiderman , transformers , bound by flame ,
Rayman legends , not enough games out yet ? To be honest you should stay fair and give everyone enjoyment not only indie lovers

  • Now i wish i did not pay for oddworld new and tasty, only just bought it recently to now it being free.

  • I don’t leave many comments or complain a lot about the service I get from SCE. However, this is getting out of hand. Not only have they been giving games that aren’t worth many of the Playstation Plus subscribers time but the level of efficiency and neglect that they give us is unconscionable. I have been with Playstation since it’s insurrection, I was there for the Playstation underground and them mailing free demos of a upcoming games. And now with the subscription to their online service that we all mindlessly pay for we get garbage after garbage. THANK YOU SONY FOR YET ANOTHER LET DOWN on my birthday week noless. This is it for me. Once my subscription runs out I’m done with being treated as cattle to feed the Sony empire. I may be alone in this but it’s unfair how many time Sony gets attacked and does nothing about it…”throw the monkeys 5 free days of Plus limited service. That’s good enough.” it takes your competitionfewer days to rectify any problems they may have, where as you take years. Maybe you should fire the incompetent staff you have and get some actual people insted. But hey, what do you care you’re making millions a day so why would you care

  • i dont like to complain but…. seriously, i just bought my very first xbox system which is a 360… they gave out tomb raider this month.. its a top dog game… i love this game… great graphics… this list your showing me looks like old school games that probably couldnt sell if you tried to which is why there free… a desperation to give out free games cause competitors is but keeping it cheap.. it also helps out those poor games designers that made these games lol.

  • Ah tremendous.
    More indie games.
    Can’t get enough of them.

Might cry that I cancelled my XBL now.

  • Sony, it seems like the only good games you ever put on ps plus are for the ps3. Counterspy was a good desision i have to say but most people want exciting games from ubisoft or activision, hey why not put ac 4 on playstation plus or a call of duty game for free on ps4 thats what would alot of people would like to see

  • Great lineup just got off the road can’t wait to play thanks playstation.

  • LOOOOOOOLLL!!!

Almost a Year now since I allowed my PS+ Sub to expire…and month after month since that day Sony’s PS+ team just did everything they could to tell me that I was RIGHT to let it happen. I made the right choice in NOT paying for PS+ again. The service has been steadily going downhill the last 6-8 months and now…well…OMG.
Maybe April’s lineup will consist of Minis only? (your welcome for the cool idea btw =P)

So thanks for the monthly laughs, Sony… xD

  • I’ve only been a PS+ member for two months, but I feel like I’ve already gotten my $50 worth. The wailing and gnashing of teeth re: “indie games” in these threads is reliably hilarious. Keep it up guys. I’m already looking forward to next month’s free games and free schadenfreude. Thanks Sony!

  • +Sid Shuman is Catherine ever going to be offered as a free Plus game?

  • At this point, I’m just waiting on Disgaea 4 for Vita.

  • This month for me wasn’t nothing to be excited for. I am not an indie lover and I am sick of tired of these NES looking indies being given to a powerful system like the PS4. I will say if your an indie lover you been in heaven for a year now. If you’re not like me I am just continually disappointed. Especially when I see xbox gold receiving TOMB RAIDER, RAYMAN, and BioShock. I mean I liked Outlast game and I like Resogun. However it’s just rings disappointment when you still got Launch games still haven’t been made available. Games like some of the assassian creed’s or Knack could have been PS + titles. I don’t think everything should be free but I don’t think EVERY MONTH should be these cheap NES Indies either. I say at very least 1 AAA title and one indie. The Ps4 been out for over 15 months now and there are plenty of games to go around now. Surely Sony and whoever is in charge has the budget and ability to not be so cheap. I just look at see what our rival is getting and it like I hate the fact that we don’t have a comeback. It’s like you know they sad a good joke about you and all you can do is sit in silence.

  • please make oddworld cross platform no reason this game cant be played on a ps3
