Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.
After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly — this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for. So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.
Thank you for your patience — we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.

Not unexpected. I think Sony made a mistake announcing the game as early as they did, it should have been at this years E3.

I DONT want to see an uncharted collectiin before uncharted 4. I want all eyes and hands on the NEW game, not the old ones.
Everyone knew this was guna happen. I juat hope its good enough on release to warrant the delay. Haha, im sure theyre racking their brains trying to figure out how many things they can charge for in MP.

Look, I’m all for taking more time to make a game really great but come on, the lack of great games for the PS4 is really starting to get annoying. I’m going to say the same thing I’ve been saying since I got my PS4…where are the games? If you don’t like FPS games or brawlers it has not been a great next-gen so far. It’s just so disappointing.
I’m super relieved that they’re taking their time with it. Naughty Dog’s games are works of art, and you don’t rush art. Besides, there’s a ton of great stuff coming out this year, already, so there is no issue, as far as I’m concerned.

It need quite a longer delay…Until it was made very good. Those guys can’t tell me they were convinced they had a good game, because LMAO, anyone can see for themselves it’s half-assed everywhere.
It’s tiring that so many developers this gen can’t keep their promises.
I’m all behind the delayed. Naughty Dog makes excellent games and if they need time to make it right then so be it.
I was really looking forward to play this game this year, but hey are other great games, such as, Batman Arkham Knight and Metal Gear Solid 5. Anyway, take your time and make this game even better than the previous Uncharteds.
And it’s even more tiring to hear people defend them. Don’t announce the game’s release window until you are exactly sure. Take a cue from movies that announce their movies and release dates much closer (in most cases) to the actual date than what games do. Yes, having seen footage I would rather not have known about this game — no matter how obvious it was that it was coming.
If this was the only title being delayed, fine, but how many games have been delayed this first year and few months? It’s unprofessional.

No big deal, I never expected it to come out this year anyway. Just get the rights back to Crash Bandicoot and the Sony fans would go crazy. Crash Bandicoot Country for the PS4 and The Crash Bandicoot Collection for the Vita sell gazillions. Hey, a guy can dream.
I knew the game would be delayed,but the game will be worth the wait. We really dont want buggy games that ubi**** produce. I have good faith in Neil druckman and Bruce Straley, they both directed Uncharted 2 and The Last Of Us. They had no involvement in the terrible Uncharted 3.
Patience is a virtue. Learn it kids. The best things in life are worth waiting for.
In the mean time we have Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain coming out this september.
I don’t mind this at all. This year is PACKED with amazing releases, with Blodborne coming up, Ratchet and Clank, MGS V, Persona 5, Rime, Wild, etc. Remember, TLOU ended up getting delayed and look what happened.
No doubt the ND will use this time to make a solid and even better game, I appreciate it. But Sony, the PS4 really need a great AAA game EXCLUSIVE for this holiday season. How to compete against big productions of rivals like. Zelda, Halo and even Tomb Raider? You allow the Xbone dominate again?
I am extremely hopeful for a huge megaton announced in E3, to be released in 2015. I do not want to buy another console in this holiday.
@59 Yes MGS 5 will win goty 2015 even if uncharted 4 did come out this year.

In a perfect world, nobody would miss deadlines and games wouldn’t have bugs and we’d all be happy that the first date we were given was accurate. Heck, in a perfect world, this would all be free, we’d all have fulfilling ways to spend our time and contribute to humanity, and nobody would be without food and shelter and whatever else make them happy, and none of it would require putting someone else down to accomplish.
But given that you have to make a choice in this imperfect world, I’d argue that waiting until you’re really comfortable with the scope and quality of the game before you release it outweighs predetermined release dates EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Delay it until November 2016 Naugthy Dog.
I preordered my digital copy :/, they gave who preordered it 20$ lool!! Seriously.. I’m waiting this interestingly since announced so I took my action towards it , now you disappointed us as the real fans ??

Although Im dissipointed im not surprised at all. I thought the demo looked like it was missing a filter on the visuals and some fun factor was missing. I NEED for Sony to deliver a HIT for us hardcore PS gamers to get behind. Ill gladly wait for good material but what are you going to give us in the mean time?
I guess it will take extra time to add Morpheus Support. Probably won’t happen but we can always dream.
Take your time Naughty Dog, you haven’t failed me yet and I know what you are capable of so I will be waiting.
I may need to get The Order 1886, some people have complained about it but I think it will be a fun ride.
Looking at that gameplay trailer from PSX…I can only imagine how much greater ND will make this game. Please ND be my guest…take all the time you need. =)
Yeah I knew it…there was no way UC4 would be released in 2015.Of course I’m dying to play a new adventure with Drake but I don’t mind waiting,just take your time ND and deliver an UC as good as the mighty UC2.

What is going on with sony’s studios?? Horrendous output, mismanagement, nothing again for fall? Sony you need to do something, you are selling on hype alone t this point, it certainly is not games or features (Ps3 is still a better console). Very disappointed in Sony so far, MS has HALO, TR, Forza, yet nothing on GT7, sony santa monica, guerilla, buy a third party exclusive or something this is embarassing for the market leader.
@76, as of now no, and last year they never either, really poor, sony just coasting on hype, there exclusives this gen have been really a major step back. Sony needs to wake up.
Two things need to happen now then. An Uncharted Trilogy Remastered for the PS4 and a Fallout 4 announcement. That would help me through the wait.
I hate giant patches way more than I hate waiting so I’m fine with this game is gonna be great.

As disappointing as that is to hear I trust that you guys will deliver an amazing final product :) so take all the time you need Naughty dog games are always worth waiting for :) I mean I was already beyond sold after that game play demo was shown XD
Also not sure how likely an Uncharted Trilogy collection on PS4 is realistically but I’d like to just say that if it DID happen I would definitely buy it XD
I’m perfectly okay with this news since I know the end result will be worth it. In the meantime, though, I want more Last of Us DLC and an Uncharted collection ^-^
Waiting will be hard but Naughty Dog is the most trustworthy studio. You´ve made some of my favorite games ever and I want the best possible Uncharted. Take your time and gives the best Nate adventure!
Would be nice to get a remastered collection this year to pass the time, even though there will be plenty games to play.

Games that have been delayed this generation (One year and ~4 months in):
Batman Arkham Knight, Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age Inquisition, Deep Down, Destiny, Driveclub, Dying Light, Evolve, Max Max, Ori and the Blind Forest, Project Cars, The Crew, The Division, The Order, The Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, Wattch Dogs.
How many times are we going to say “if it makes for a better game then it’s ok”. They made a promise, they broke it. Most of these developers aren’t new to the industry. It’s a new generation, sure, but the past generation didn’t have these issues. I work as a game-developer since 15+ years and this is embarrassing.
I applaud games that actually came out on time without any really noticeable bugs, Killzone SF, Ryse, Infamous SS (was probably delayed slightly behind doors), Little Big Planet 3 (not really stretching the PS4), Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Sunset Overdrive but they have been the exception to the rule. The ones that weren’t delayed and not mentioned here were riddled with bugs.
@43 I couldn’t POSSIBLY agree more. To me, this is FAR more upsetting news than the delay. They create the greatest character of all-time and then only make four games with him. It just depresses me :( I’m not ready for the end of Nathan Drake and company :(
Sony really does ask for it when stuff like this happens. “Greatness Awaits” has an entirely different meaning than it was meant to since the PS4 launch.
I’m not worried about this at all patience is a virtue.
