The Drop

The renowned first-person shooter series comes tearing back to PlayStation this week with Battlefield Hardline, which launches on PS4 and PS3.

Inspired by modern-day TV crime dramas, Hardline puts players in the role of Nick Mendoza, a Miami police detective that’s hell-bent on taking a former partner down. Hardline also features a robust multiplayer suite, with new competitive modes, giant interactive maps, 28 gadgets, 27 licensed vehicles, and more.

That’s just the start of this week’s lineup. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD launches this week on PS4, ushering in a dark, violent story of 14 characters pushing back against an invading empire. And of course let’s not forget our Spring Fever lineup continues this week; Jamestown+ is taking flight on PS4 with new characters, new maps, and that deliciously insane bullet hell flavor.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

    Happy Drop day!

  • XenonSovereign

Confirm or deny: I can get the FFXV demo if I buy Type-0 o Tuesday?

    • Ryan Clements
      Ryan Clements

Hi Xenon! Yes, starting Tuesday you can — for a limited time — get the Final Fantasy XV demo with Type-0 HD. ^_^

  • pretty good drop, but I have a question and hopefully you anyone can answer because Sony and Square have not. But what happened with the NA digital preorder for Final Fantasy Type 0? I Know other regions of PSN got the digital preorder last week, but why not NA? and why the silence?

Surza7 — all I can say is that there won’t be a pre-order available for Type-0 HD on the US PlayStation Store, but come Tuesday it will be available with the Final Fantasy XV demo (for a limited time). Hope that helps!

  • Clements! Hi! Happy Sunday! Will you be playing final fantasy type-0?

  • LightOfValkyrie

Can’t wait for Hardline and Type-0.

  • Crazy_Lunatic463

Very excited to get my hands on FF Type-0 and the FF15 demo ^_^
@2 you need to pre-order the game on SE website, I’m not sure if it’s to late now. Unless you can get your hand on a day zero version then you might get a chance to get the FF15 demo.

Enjoy those games, and thanks for chiming in to help a fellow gamer. ^_^

  • JoshDCcomics

I was a little worried FF Type-0 HD might not come out digitally this week since there was no pre-order on PSN. What a relief to see it on the list.

    BEYOND!

  • RavenVulcans

I can’t wait for Toukiden: Kiwami! Glad it’s getting a demo this week.

  • @2 The confirmed you will get the demo in another topic for a limited time when you buy it on PSN. Still no word as to why it was not pre-orderable.

  • thank you for the response Ryan!

  • Oh, know if Heavensward will be up for pre-order on PSN or not?

    • Ryan Clements
      Ryan Clements

Great question, I’m not sure — will have to touch base with Square Enix on that one…

      Thanks for stopping by.

  • Destinykoalla

When is the FFXV demo code redeemable if i have the EU version?

  • Wingman_SRK

    Really excited for Type-0!

  • Ooh, the Toukiden: Kiwami demo is actually coming this week? I thought I read it was coming one day before the game release.

  • Okay. Like you I am also playing XIV non-stop right now and do have it pre-ordered to get the early access for the new content, but I might want to digitally download it instead. Especially since I need the disc to start Final Fantasy XIV on PS4, since I got the physical version.

  • KazeEternal

:’) Final Fantasy Type-0 is almost here. Years of waiting, writing, emailing, petitioning…. I can’t believe it….. I just wish my PSP had lived to see this day.

  • So if I buy Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on PSN it comes with a code for the FFXV demo? (Although for a limited time?) just want to make sure as I have a pre-order for a physical copy but I would prefer a digital copy with the code for the FFXV demo. Thank you for another great Drop Mr Clements!

  • Thank you for the confirmation on the XV demo for us only interested in the digital version, truly a shame that there was no pre-order and silence from Square Enix side in regards to the whole NA situation. That said please do try to get a push on information in regards to Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward digital CE pre-order. I want to be able to play those 3 days of early access.

  • TheUnbornNobodyX

Regarding the Toukiden: Kiwami demo: I heard that you can transfer your character from the PSVita version to the PS4 version. Is that still possible and if so how? I’d be a shame to start over from scratch but if I have to, I have to.

  • My Final Fantasy Type-0 HD collector’s edition is on it’s way to me right now. It’s so close, it may get to me tomorrow, but i want it right now. I can’t put into words how excited i am, so i have to type it like this: GHLKDSHNBDFLFHBGFKFRHNFDKDJNHDKDJNFJFDLKFKJDLSDMD. That’s pretty excited.

  • Random_Hero

Shouldn’t Tales From the Borderland: Ep. 2 be on this list? March 17th.

  • Random_Hero

Nevermind, saw that it was only confirmed for PC on that day. Sorry!

  • I’m very excited for Type-0 HD! It seems incredibly bizarre that we’re not getting any kind of pre-load though, especially since it was promised after Destiny that every PS4 title would have a pre-load option. Is it an issue on Square Enix’s end? I was planning on pre-loading the 26GB file so I could actually play it on Tuesday later in the day, but I guess at this rate I’ll have to wait till Wednesday for it to finish downloading. Bummer. Doesn’t really hinder my hype for it though!

  • aHarmlessFly

HEY! Please help, when can we preload Battlefield hardline!! The game releases in less than 36 hours, this is getting upsetting man. What is the point of preload, it says preload and play on release, well not everyone has 100mbps . so please update us.

  • Would be amazing to tell us around what hour on Tuesday should we expect this amazing drop of games? Im taking a day off from work just so I can sit and play!

  • Hell yeah! The Toukiden Kiwami demo! I’m buying that on first-day when it releases.

    TELL US THE PRICES!!!

Is it that difficult to add the PRICES to the DROP post? Yes, I know this is the DROP, the PRICES will be revealed tomorrow, but is it that bad to let us know ahead?

Some of us need to plan and ration our gaming budget. Having that bit of information (apart from the standard $59.99 games) helps us get prepared and prioritize. We may also compare the digital price with physical price in stores, or compare the digital price with other region PSN stores, or even with other non-Playstation platforms. If we find that the physical price is better, knowing the price ahead will still give us a small window to go pre-order from game shops (or is that why you don’t want to tell us the prices?). And some of us need to buy physical PSN top up cards ahead of the actual release.

Why is it such a problem to show the PRICES?

no that not help alot when FF Type O update in psn store in early evening. pre-order help alot people preload it today if it has pre-order.. Shame on Square Enix for not put it for pre-order. there are 3 different games i download at same time take too slow to finish download : Resident Evil Revelations 2 : Episode 4 with two bonus episodes, Tales from the Borderland episode 2 and FF type O

  • Nothing for me this week. PlayStation Plus expired on the 10th so I’ve been using my Wii U and PC more since then. I’m not ready to re-sub to Plus due to the fact that it’s been going downhill for awhile.

  • Can’t wait for Type 0 and Battlefield Hardline. This week as well as next week will be epic.

  • I’ve had mad $$ in my sen wallet for weeks waiting to preorder Type 0. Can’t wait! Very odd that other regions were able to preorder and preload though. MS must of paid for exclusivity to preorder and preload in the US then?

  • TeamGreen615

@#26 I’m with you on that one! Glad there is a PS4 demo but probably going to get the Vita version.

  • LeiFangFan85

Definitely interested in playing Jamestown Plus and Bladestorm Nightmare when I get my PS4.:D

  • Saltamirano151

I’m glad to see PSOne and PS2 Classics are coming back in full swing again, but these games aren’t that appealing to me. When will I be able to get Brave Fencer Musashi again!?

  • Just last week on this blog I was wondering why publishers weren’t re-releasing old From Software titles, and now we have Echo Night. Very excited about that — and hope the PS2 sequel isn’t far too off.

  • DOOMsDay76696

don’t even bother to ask ryan anything he respond beyond like an idiot and say he will get back to you when he doesn’t

  • Hey Ryan! Thanks for the list!

Question: When games like the PSOne and PS2 classics are listed, there isn’t a platform listed. Are they playable on all current sony platforms (PS3, PS4, PS Vita) or are they on PSNow only?

    Thanks!

  • One game not mentioned on this list is Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2. That will be out on Tuesday, finally.

  • Looks like I need to dust off the ps3 so I can play Awakened fate Ultimatum. It’s cool to see the ps3 still being supported.

  • Do we get the day one edition if we buy it from the PS store?

  • @27 So what happens if you create a budget, and then the next day hits, and they do a massive sale out of nowhere or a mini sale on stuff you wanted, and now you have to rebudget? Is it really that helpful to get prices 1 or 2 days early when sales can change your calculations?

    @29 going downhill?

    January
    Infamous First Light
    The Swapper on all 3
    Prototype 2
    DuckTales Remastered
Duke nukem 3D: Megaton Edition V/3

    Feb:
    Apotheon
    Transistor
    Thief
    Yakuza 4
    Rogue Legacy (on all 3)
    Kick and Fennick

    March:
    New N Tasty
    Valiant Hearts
    Papo & Yo
    OlliOlli2
Sherlock Holmes (not sure how good this one is. This and Woah Dave are about the only stinkers, and that’s only because Woah Dave is $5 and niche’. I actually really like it play it on my Vita TV)
    Counterspy (all consoles)

Don’t even get me started on the discounts for sales.

I think if you ONLY have a PS4, Helldivers is worth resubbing to Plus for. That is one hell of a fun game. Just go look at all the “Playing Helldivers” comments on the Magicka 2 post.

  • @27 man it must be rough living somewhere that only allows you to buy games on Tuesdays.

  • OMG!

    Echo Night!!!

    ECHO NIGHT!!!

Hands down the scariest game ever. Forget RE (I’ve beaten all of them). Forget Silent Hill (Ok, that’s scary too) but Echo Night takes the cake. If they ever comes out in HD Remaster, gamers will be peeing themselves all over the world.

We’re not talking about zombies that you can shoot or punch. We’re not talking about aliens that you can mutilate. We’re talking a ghost, a little girl ghost that you can’t touch or fight, but she sure can suck the life out of you. Run for your life!

  • Got my FF Type-0 collector’s coming this week! Can’t wait!

  • @44 I just preordered mine this past Friday, actually (since SE surprisingly had some left in stock), so I won’t be getting mine for a while. But yeah, can’t wait!

@38 That’s technically DLC, which isn’t listed here.

  • yowzagabowza

Something is missing. I dunno what it could be? Oh wait, PRICES!!!!

  • OsitoViolento

Sir.Ryan i love you so much thank for this wonderfull news FF TYPE 0 Digital hell yeah and BEYOND

  • Will there be also FFXIV Heavensward Preorder this coming week?

  • A guy just got his account hacked and had $600 stolen from his credit card, and you guys basically bullied him and said you would only give him$150 back and not refund his online games. Why should anyone buy any games from you if you treat us like crap?

  • Bladestorm and Type-0 coming out on Tuesday?

I’m going to be busy for a while.
