The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 5/12/2015

Ryan Clements's Avatar Posted by Senior Specialist, SIEA Social Media

The Drop

A bittersweet story of lost friendship, a world embroiled in strife, and… an interstellar soup empire! These are just a few of the experiences coming to PlayStation this week, starting with a standalone version of The Last of Us: Left Behind.

For those that have yet to experience the touching prequel to The Last of Us, look no further than the standalone version of Left Behind. This powerful chapter follows Ellie largely before the events of the main game, and explores her close friendship with Riley before the two girls part ways. The award-winning team at Naughty Dog once again blends tense, survival-action gameplay with reflective story sequences to craft a brilliant complement to The Last of Us.

Also on the way is Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, which brings the well-loved JRPGs to PS4. Return to Spira and embark on an exhilarating quest to free the world from a terrible threat — and play some Blitzball along the way!

Lastly, Nom Nom Galaxy hits PS4. The next entry in the PixelJunk series blends different game genres together and tasks you (and your friends) with managing an intergalactic soup empire. Yum.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

Hi Ryan!

How have you been?

Personally I’m excited for Project Cars. I had my fill of DriveClub and I need a new racing fix. It’s gonna support Morpheous once it launches, correct?

Keep being awesome…

Can we get some Namco Arcade Archives? Specifically Ms. Pac-Man and Rolling Thunder. Or a full-on Namco Museum would be splendid.

Man people have such long and unreasonable lists of demands…

Prettymuch the only thing I want is the ability to purchase digital codes for the psn to gift to people or give away on stream…

But Toren looks really cool, interested in giving that a try. Only thing for the month I’m really excited for atm.

I LOVE Double Dragon. I do wish we were getting Double Dragon Trilogy though. That, fixes all of the slowdown issues with the first two arcade games and adds in some great arranged music as well.

Why can’t we Preorder Project CARS on the PlayStation Store in the US?

Guess I’ll wait to buy Project CARS when I get Project Morpheus in 2016. By then Project CARS will be cheaper and hopefully I’ll have a wheel bought by then so I can have the ultimate VR experience for racing.

Hey Ryan,

A few questions about TLoU: Left Behind.

Do you know if there will be a PS+ 10% discount on this for the first week of release?
Do you know if there is any loyalty content? Like if you own TLoU or Remastered, do you get any cool stuff?
I’m guessing it’s not cross-buy, but can you confirm this?
Finally, do you know if saves transfer across, or do you have to play through it again?

Cheers man, good drop! Excited for Nom Nom Galaxy!

is is weird how a game like Arcade Archives Double Dragon would be on PS4 but not on Vita. I hope that E3 will have some exciting news for the Vita this year. Last year was rather disappointing; hope this year is better.

@Gohan16ken

Please stop posting all that junk all the time.

https://share.blog.us.playstation.com/

They made this tool a long time ago. If you want actual change you have to get people excited about it, so they can bump up priority.

If you’re the only one trying to get something done, they’re going to ignore it. Get half a million people to up vote it, and they might just hire some people specifically to fix some of those things.

100% Agree with post #11. While i love to see more Arcade Archives (only bought two so far, Rygar + Matmania) their pricing is a bit steep imho.

Anyways, Will buy Nom nom Galaxy for sure and the next HELLDIVERS DLC whenever it’s released.

@ yowza: Well of course he could answer that one. It was already public knowledge. I’m pretty sure they announced the price on the initial blog post, if not on a follow up.

I’m looking forward to Toren and Nom Nom Galaxy for this week. Witcher 3 next week is gonna fill my gaming time for a while.

Also, is anyone else having serious problems with Ether One? I like the game, but it has insane fps problems if you play for more than an hour or so, to the point of it being a slideshow. Also, it glitched on me in the second chapter, and stuck me at the top of an elevator by removing the console from the stupid thing so I couldn’t get back down. They did a really poor job porting it from PC. Or maybe I’m just unlucky.

More ps1 classics please:

Saga frontier 1 and 2
Vandal hearts 1 and 2
megaman legends 1 and 2
Jade cocoon
Einhander
Die hard trilogy
Diablo

And for psp:

Final fantasy crisis core
Valkyrie profile Lenneth

And what will it take to make blood omen, msg portable ops, and a bunch of other ps1/psp titles vita compatible? Seems those Star Wars games were all added with the flip of a switch a few weeks back.

I would gladly pay $10 or more for Double Dragon if it was on PS3, though I understand why fewer and fewer games are.

It’s a great memory for me, and yet it’s not easily found in my area. While Galaga is another of my faves, oddly enough it seems I can hardly walk without tripping over a Galaga cabinet these days. So that’s a factor for me. Well, as I said it would be since I’m without a PS4 for now.

Meanwhile, the price point is fine for superfans but many waiting for a sale will have forgotten all about it by the time it happens.

My 2 cents.

I heard that the standalone DLC of The Last of Us: Left Behind has access to the full game’s multiplayer. If that’s true, I’ll buy it when I get a PS4. I already own the full game on PS3 and don’t want to go through the long story again.

And if this comment appears, looks like I can comment again. Thank you for your understanding, PS blog team.

@wdavidson I have no idea what you’re talking about. You must have done some illegal and downloaded custom firmware to get it bricked. That’s entirely your fault and not Sony.
