Infinifactory Coming to PS4

One of my favorite television shows is How It’s Made. There’s something hypnotically satisfying about watching an assembly line repeat the same precise actions over and over again, assembling seemingly random components into a recognizable, finished product. In fact, I’m such a fan of assembly lines that we made a puzzle game about building factories called Infinifactory, and it’s coming soon to PS4!

One of the most important things to know about Infinifactory is that it’s not just a puzzle game — it’s an open-ended puzzle game. Unlike a typical puzzle game, where each puzzle has a single solution that you’re trying to uncover, every puzzle in Infinifactory has countless solutions, each with different strengths and weaknesses.

This allows you to compete against your friends and the world to build the fastest, smallest, and simplest factories possible. You’re not just “solving” a puzzle, you’re inventing your own solution!

When we first released Infinifactory in early 2015, it was as an “early access” game on PC. Over the following six months we refined it heavily based on player feedback, and even added four additional sets of levels, effectively doubling the number of puzzles in the game. It’s gotten the time and attention to turn it into the greatest puzzle game we’ve ever made, and now it’s coming straight to you on PS4!

  • Awesome! I’ve really enjoyed watching Jonathan Blow play Infinifactory on his livestreams (he kinda likes it ;-), so I’m glad to hear it’s coming to PS4 too.

    • I wish he would announce a release date for The Witness though… Been waiting for that one for a LOOOOONG time now!

  • Gelatinous-Bard

I’m wondering if this game plays anything at all like Spacechem? If it does, i’m sold, Spacechem is one of my all-time favorite puzzle games and I have been dying for another game like it, but I always assumed it was a one of a kind.. Hope to hear more about this in the near future!

    • SpaceChem is unique, but Infinifactory does hold some of the same mind-bending magic. I highly recommend trying it out. I have it on PC but I’ll be grabbing it on PS4 as well.

  • Now this is exciting. It reminds me of an engineering class I took in high school where we used these sets that were basically like Knex meets lego, where we’d have little ‘engines’ and could complete projects like a hand drill, or other little things that required you to reverse engineer the project just from a 45 degree photo. SO MUCH FUN. I went through the assigned projects early in the course and the teacher ended up letting me do whatever I wanted the rest of the year. So obviously I built a huge, flying pirate ship out of three sets.

ANYway, yeah. I’m STOKED for this game!!!

  • A puzzle game with a unique twist might be worth checking out.

  • It looks different indeed,kinda neat.Do release a demo.

  • This is really great news! I am very much looking forward to playing this!

  • This actually looks pretty cool

  • I love puzzle games like this, and I’m glad to see it coming to PS4.

One request, though — please make better use of current-gen lighting, maps, and shader effects. Just upscaling and achieving 60fps with a lot of static art and lighting just makes everything look even flatter. The lower resolution and framerates from last-gen helped hide aspects of that flat look, but better resolution makes it look like a budget title/mobile port.
