The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 8/11/2015
The Drop

A village sits empty. The scattered remnants of life strewn over street corners and across the cluttered, quiet counters of kitchens. What happened? What’s left in the wake of such a catastrophic incident? These are the questions you’ll attempt to answer in Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, which is out this week on PS4.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture tells a haunting, beautiful narrative in the aftermath of the apocalypse. Players will explore the empty setting of a small village in Britain and piece together the stories and final hours of the people that lived there. Developed by the team at The Chinese Room (Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs), Rapture is a game of many emotions and many snapshots of the past. For a deeply reflective, intriguing journey, look no further than this first-person mystery.

For those craving dangerous dungeons and crackling spells, Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is also out this week on PS4. Completely retuned from the original version, the Slayer Edition has upgraded abilities, redesigned enemies, and even a new game mode for a near-endless challenge.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

  • Gauntlet, Rapture & the Prototypes (time I tried those out). I thought Fallout 4 was going to be a Pre-Order or am I missing it? Tho…. it is a bit early to purchase even if it’s a sure thing for me. On a side note- Love the “bellybutton” (generic/common, everybody’s got one) feedbacks coming in re: the new layout….you teens need photos? Can’t research for yourselves? And here I thought gamers were elite thinkers…

  • Space Hulk was announced last year for the PS4 and here it shows up on the PS3. Any word on the date you can provide? Some would deem it wise tp remain silent to get PS3 sales and then hope for a rebuy. Better for you, worse for the customer. I would prefer a straight up response.

  • I really like the new layout, much easy to read and follow. I don’t mind not having screenshots. This post is to wet our appetites for the game, and get us interested to find further information on the title. Having too much information here is detrimental to a release list.

It would however, be a good idea to have the game title do a search on the PS Blog for tags that contain the game title. So for “rapture” have a click find all of the related items in the blog. That is a reasonable request, and should add more than a few minutes to the post creation time.

  • An alright drop, however where is Magic Duels: Origins for PS4 and you might as well just wait and make it cross buy, cross play on PS4, PS3, and PSVita. Happy about the “Rapture” though.

  • P.S.- Mad Max….yeeeaaaahh!

  • I agree screenshots do a lot to spice up the post. The way it is kind of just looks like a Microsoft word document. Either way as long as I get the info I’m usually good to fire up youtube and watch the trailers myself.

Definitely picking up Gauntlet. And probably Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture depending on a few reviews. Submerged kinda got blasted last week so I’ll give that one a couple days to feel it out. Same with Toy Soldiers.

  • great drop though i am still dreaming of seeing Azure dreams in PlayStation classics, or a remake or similar game. love the mix of random dungeon +town/home base upgrades building+ relationships.

  • You seriously call that a new design?

All you did was use Bolding, Italicizing, and lines as well as bullet points. That was done in Word with little to no effort. It’s a complete joke. I guarantee you that took all of 5 minutes to write up.

The drop used to have actual pictures, hand made graphics and titles and what not. It had actual WORK put into it.

I didn’t think it was possible for you guys to come off as more lazy, but you’re sure showing me!!

  • Also, why are Prototype 1 and 2 in the drop, those were put up on the store a few weeks back. Are you seriously including them just because they’re going to have separate downloads now instead of being bundled together?

  • Anyone else having problems getting Gauntlet (preorder/preload) to work? The theme downloaded fine, but I’ve tried to DL the game from both my PS4 and my laptop.

I really want to play it at midnight, but I guess I won’t complain assuming it ends up downloading properly.

  • How’s Dark Cloud 3 coming along? I’m sure Level 5 must be finally developing the game, right? RIGHT?! How could they not show some respect to the superfans. I’ll even donate my left testicle to the testicularly challenged (never liked that one much anyway).

  • Very nice layout. The fonts are more pleasing to the eye but we could use at least a screenshot or thumbnail to get a better visual idea of the games.

  • The pictures need to be after the words or right after the title. The way it is grouped now makes it look like it belongs to the previous title.

  • Has the update happened yet? Been desperately searching for Goat Simulator to install before work, but so far nothing.
