PlayStation Experience 2015 Comes to San Francisco

Deep breath: PlayStation Experience is officially a go for 2015! The epic two-day PlayStation community event is back, relocating to sunny/foggy/windy San Francisco this December 5th and 6th.

What can you expect this year? For starters, a ton of hands-on time with 2015 and 2016’s biggest games, plus a front-row seat for major PlayStation announcements. Plus some of those patented PlayStation surprises you’ve come to expect.

PlayStation Experience 2015 Comes to San Francisco

We’ve also heard your feedback regarding ticket prices, and I’m happy to announce that we’ve been able to make PlayStation Experience a little more affordable for 2015. Early birds who register before September 20th will get a discounted rate of $60 for the full two-day pass, while supplies last. After September 20th, regular two-day tickets will go for $75, with one-day passes going for $45 (Saturday only) and $40 (Sunday only).

Tickets are on sale now. When ordering tickets, we strongly recommend registering with your PlayStation Network ID for… well, reasons that aren’t exactly clear to me at this point. But I’m told it’ll all make sense come December!

For those traveling from out of town, we’ve secured a select number of discounted hotel rates at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis for $249 per night, the Courtyard by Marriott San Francisco Downtown for $209 per night, and the Hilton San Francisco for $179 per night.

Capcom Cup

Also, for all you Street Fighter fans out there, the Capcom Cup will be held at PlayStation Experience this year as a one-day special event open to all attendees on Sunday, December 6th! As the final culmination of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour, the official Street Fighter eSports league, the Capcom Cup will feature 32 of the world’s best players competing for the title of “Street Fighter World Champion” and a shot at the massive $250,000 prize pool.

Additionally, the Capcom Cup VIP Package is available for those who purchase a two-day or Sunday-only pass and want the ultimate Capcom Cup experience! Package includes:

  • Premium front area seating at the event
  • Capcom goodie bag
  • Exclusive access to the Capcom Cup after party, hosted by Twitch and Showdown.gg

  • How old do you have ot be to go? I would love to take my younger brother but he’s under 18.

  • Why change from Las Vegas? SF is just a city filled with people who think they don’t hate cause their opinions, when they really do.

    • Adam said: ” our idea was always to take it to different places to feed the fans around the US”.

    • Lol…way to hate on a whole city… SF and cali in general are very diverse… Filled with ppl that accept differences.. Just because you have a bad experience, doesnt mean the whole city is that way. That’s exactly like saying playstation sucks just because you played 1 bad game.

Anyway, cant wait for this, I’ll finally be at an event to tell SONY ppl in person why gamers still ask for SOCOM ;)

Hoping to see playable versions of Uncharted 4 (online tournament?!) or No Man’s Sky!

And hey maybe a surprise or two…speaking of two, socom two hd? ;) Agent? :P

  • whenever i hit register with psn, it asks for my info i log in but it sends me back to the homepage. it doesn’t let me complete the registration. any advice?

  • I’m calling God of War IV reveal. if not I’ll be very disappointed.

  • im exciting for playstation experience 2015 cant wait to see all the new PSVita games and PS4 games :)

  • This is the news I have been waiting for! Had a blast last year, just bought my pass for the weekend, and I can’t wait!

  • Yes!!!! I’ve been holding my breath for this announcement for months. That 16 hour drive is totally worth it. Ticket’s already ordered and I plan on being 1st in line this time, I wouldn’t want to risk having to buy a wrist band again if they do something special.

  • Bring PSX to the city that never sleeps. Or some place close to it.

  • I hope those major announcements aren’t more indies or low budget titles.

  • I just registered My girlfriend and I now I just need to find a cool hotel in San Francisco… Any Ideas? I want to try something unique!

  • Sid… what do you think the odds are of getting Shu to ask my girlfriend to marry me during the keynote? lol

    • Hey… saw your Ratchet avatar. I’m a Ratchet and Clank cosplayer… I’d love to help you guys out with your proposal, because that would be freaking epic.

  • Will there be shuttles from these listed hotels?

  • Sigh…. was so hoping you would have held it in NYC this year.

    Maybe next year?

  • Bought my ticket over the phone because the online system was not working. After I was told I would be charged $60 (you know… the correct price before it becomes $75) for the ticket, I noticed on the receipt I was charged $75! When I called about a refund, they told me there was nothing they could do. Now I have been jumping through hoops trying to talk to someone to fix this. This really has been a PlayStation “Experience” I will be remembering.

  • Last year’s was so much fun can’t wait til December to do it all over again. I have a couple buddies that may or may not go this year. Can I register them under “guest or plus one” just in case plans/traveling companions change?

  • to bad there is never any bonuses for people who want to attend but live in another country and cant even afford to buy tickets or hotels for something like that (socialized medicine my ass). hope for some great announcements maybe even a release date for no mans sky. and to see more new ips and more of horizon and less of cod would be nice too. cant wait to see hope all goes well for you guys and it makes up for the lack of news from gamescom

  • So glad to hear there’s a new PSX coming this year. Loved the previous PSX. Too much waiting ahead…

  • This should be a farm fresh event! I think I’ll buy now! Let’s listen in, and other Sidisms. Seriously though I’m going and I’m super excited!

  • What time will the festivities be over on Sunday night? Flying in from Cleveland and was considering flying out post show Sunday.

  • Got to finish my star wars sith costume with destiny armor now before PSX

  • Any big (oldschool) socom fans wanna meet up there let me know, I do plan on doing everything I can to get a chance to talk with someone (or some 10) at SONY about bringing it back already. Because it really is a shame that Socom 1 and Socom 2 HD were the most voted for remakes / remasters on Sony’s own share blog website yet it’s one of the few BIG franchises that has NOT come back..yet… ;) We need to clearly explain WHY/HOW Socom was SO unique and SO AHEAD of even today’s competition… More competitive+community features than any other online game…that is why people loved it so much.

So any other socom fans, let me know and we’ll meet up and try to talk to SONY to deliver that message plus all the details only a competitive/social gamer that has played socom on ps2 would notice.

    • (continued)
..would notice are (very sorely) MISSING from the competitive shooters of today… I’ll name a few right here and now:

-Not only clan tags but a full clan system within the game itself… I’m looking at you, battlelog, destiny, etc.. and the ability to actually do a custom or clan match (cant do that on destiny) or do it without having to rent a server like on bf..shouldnt have to pay to be able to do a clan war / fun custom game like handguns only or somwthing.

-SKILL based leaderboards, not just “ranks” based on how much you play…and servers specifically for high ranks only, low ranks only…giving everyone a more fair+fun+competitive game…

-Not only voice chat, but text chat, the ability to message your whole team at once, custom text taunts, voice taunts, dancing, etc…so many community features.

    • (continued)

-NO aim “assist”, NO perks, NO killstreaks, NO respawn, and no radar to “assist” you in finding the enemy. I put the word assist in quotes because these assists (while helpful to new players) actually hamper teamwork, communication, and the thrill of finding the enemy with your own eyes ears and brain, or speaking with your team to formulate a plan and call out enemies…and they prevent a game from reaching a higher skill ceiling.

Those are just a few things socomers are missing, we want the best competitive+social game to return already, if it is made like the classic games it WILL sell…EASILY.

Sorry..i think I’ve *started* planning out my speech to SONY! lol, cant wait for the event for many other reasons too! I second the guy who said he thinks God of War 4 will be there…cant imagine how badass that game will look on ps4! And maybe a sneak peak at the uncharted / last of us films? Ok now I am asking for everything :P

  • OMG!!! I missed last years, but i was not about to let that happen again! Got my spot reserved on day 1! I can’t wait, this will be the first gaming event I have ever been to, and I just can’t wait to see what playstation has in store! #PSNation

  • If my finances allowed it, I’d totally go. Since it doesn’t, I’ll hope there’s a PlayStation Experience next year that I can go to.

  • Bought my pass and reserved my hotel, but the rom rates are only good from the 4th to the 6th. Was hoping to stay until the 7th so I could recover form Capcom’s after party. Any chance of the rates extending by a day, or do I have talk to the hotel to book an extra night?

  • MVP from Hawaii checking in. Last year I flew to Vegas to make this event. Never been to SanFrancisco. Booking flight soon! Cannot wait!

  • Never been to San Francisco, so I appreciate the change in venue. This is going to be awesome!

  • If you guys sold the Morpheus there, I would be ridiculously happy. Got my 20th anniversary PS4 last PSX. How cool would it be to get a matching Morpheus this year?

  • Dude, rocket league tournament! You have to have one! By December, there are going to be a ton of good players out there.

  • Woohoo! I missed last years, but I live right next to S.F., so I immediately bought into the early bird special! Been a big Playstatio fan from the very beginning, and I’m so excited! Can’t wait to see everything, and meet my fellow members of the Playstation Nation!

  • I want to go to this so badly. Why am I so poor? I’ll save up and go in 2016! >:-0

  • Myself and others from the Infinite Medium YouTube channel will be there!

  • When I read this today at work yesterday I was very excited. I tried to register at lunch on my Vita and it kicked me back to the registration page after entering all of my info. I ran out of time, so I decided to wait and do it when I got home. Now, I can not get to the register with PSN page from my PS4 or my Vita. It also will not let me log in using the info I put in earlier.

I was very excited to attend the show this year, but if I can not register through my PS4 or Vita, I can’t go. Please, do this right and make the registration work directly on PS4 and Vita like Vote to Play. I don’t own other platforms, PlayStation is my platform of choice, and the star of this show, please don’t block your most dedicated customers.

  • Won’t be there but very glad to see. Hopefully it’s an annual event. Now make ps4 backwards compatible and ps2 games playable on vita

  • Not sure what there was to “experience” this year in the land of Playstation given that neither the Vita or PS4 have had any good exclusive games. The biggest “experience’ has been the trauma of living through the shutdown of Playstation Home and losing hundreds of dollars worth of purchases on that service into thin air.

    • Bloodborne, The Witcher, Rocket League, Everybody’s Gone to The Rapture, tons of free updates to GTA Online, playing the last of us online with a good team.. There’s tons of great games, they didn’t have to be released this year, nor did they need to be exclusive for it to be a great year for gaming on ps4… I still get on GTA V every week, so many AWESOME custom races+DMs, etc… Oh and all the great free ps plus games…lara croft is amazing with coop, good puzzles, and rocket league will be competitive and fun to come back to for a very long time.

Who knew, we could still enjoy a game even though it’s not exclusive ;)

PS: dont forget the year isnt even over yet… MGS V (game of the year if not century;) , Rainbow 6 Seige, Until Dawn, MANY great indie games (i am bread), Star Wars and Fallout…Uncharted Collection + the uncharted 4 BETA… But yea, if you want even MORE… Thats what the PS Experience is about..looking forward, not just back..

    • Oops, forgot to mention the free version of driveclub that finally came out too…gorgeous graphics and sense of speed…best lighting+weather effects I’ve ever seen in a game…and most gorgeous photo mode too…

Limbo and MGS V Ground Zeroes especially are 2 other must play games that were recently FREE for ps plus…

Long story short, if you only play games to say “hey look, we have more+better exclusives than xbox!” then you’ll be too busy trying to show off instead of enjoying ALL the good games. Who cares if its exclusive when you’re having FUN???! PlayStation isnt just about exclusives, but it has those too… God of War and Uncharted (AND Horizon, Rime, Teraway Unfolded) are coming…Oh and No Man’s Sky is console exclusive…

There, I can sleep now :P

  • Just finished my registration! finally get to go to one of these events can’t wait to meet some Industry insiders!!

  • Can you go if your not 18 if your parents give permission

  • I work in SF so this is F’in sweet. Already finished my registration. Hope to meet you guys there!

  • Last year’s PSV on the PSV has a biochemical crisis revelation 2, and that this year’s PSVITA will have any transplant game, I have a dream to have the GTA4 version of the E3, if you can transplant this game I believe sales will certainly good. I hope Sony can R stars and compromise, even the old cold good meal, I have to buy buy buy!

  • i love stupid xbox fanboys ps4 is whoopin a**

  • Show us lots of Vita support!!!

  • It would be a cool idea to host PSX in different states every year!

  • The PlayStation Experience 2014 was awesome with the announcement of the western release of Yakuza 5 (which I’m still eagerly waiting for) and the digital release of the PS1 classic Suikoden 2 (best JRPG ever), which was also released on the European Playstation Store which honestly surprised me in a very positive way. It would be nice if this year had some nice announcements too, like a western release of Yakuza Zero.

Unfortunately, what I would like to see happen the most is specific to the European Playstation Store, and there’s no European Playstation Experience event so I doubt it will ever get any attention of the higher ups. But here goes.

On the European Playstation Store, there are a lot of PS1 classics missing, most specifically JRPGs by former Square. Games like Brave Fencer Musashi, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Legend of Mana, Threads of Fate and Xenogears just to mention some.

Another thing that annoys me is that in Europe a bunch of PSP games doesn’t work on the PS TV, like Final Fantasy 1-4 + Tactics and Valkyria Chronicles 2 for some unknown reason. It would be nice to be able to play those on the PS TV.

  • Hi, I have a question. Booking through this link, the room for a night is $179. The same room at the same hotel through HotelsDotCom is $159. Is there something special for the PSX attendees at the hotels if we book through then link provided by PlayStation? If not, I would rather just book through the other website. Thanks in advance.

  • great if I’m really excited about this and see a little more world of Final Fantasy in my vita would be great as it is the game more hope thanks playstation and please more AAA support my vita

  • But is it at 60 FPS. Sick and tired of buying new consoles and framerate sucks.

  • I had to miss last year because of a work trip, but I won’t be missing this year! Why are the special rates only until Sunday? If we have to check out by noon, where are we supposed to put our stuff until the event is over that day? And booking through your links, I can’t make a reservation until Monday the 7th. I don’t care if I have to pay more for the night of the 7th, but it would be nice to be able to make a single reservation for more than just those 2 days. Is there a promo code to get the San Francisco Marriott Marquis rate on the Marriott website? I’d like to book this under my Marriott account.

  • I will be flying out there and I am all set to go!!! This will be my first PSXP.

  • Why is it have to be over 18? I want to take my 16 year old son with me…..

  • I had such a great time last time that I had to buy the weekend pass again. I met so many great people. I can’t wait to see what is in store for this year.

My biggest takeaway from last year was how great it was to interact with all the Playstation employees and the many developers. From Shuhei Yoshida to the people running the game stations, everyone’s enthusiasm was amazing. To know that everyone involved in making the games is just a gamer at heart themselves was inspiring. Also, getting the chance to meet developers of great games like Shovel Knight, Banner Saga and Rocket League was awesome. It got me personally invested in wanting to see them succeed. This may sound funny, but it almost felt like a big family gathering, everyone was so nice and had a common connection in their love for everything Playstation.

I can’t wait to try the new games for Project Morpheus and hope I’ll make it to more panels. There was so much to do last year and I’m sure it will be the same again this time too. I wonder if anything can top the No Man Sky concert from last year. I look forward to another great Playstation Experience and can’t wait to meet more of my fellow Playstation gamers in San Fransisco.

  • I think I’ll be in the US by fall this year, but not sure if by that date. I’ll do my utmost best to be part of this!
