Grand Theft Auto Online: Freemode Events Update Hits September 15th

R*Q's Avatar Posted by

Freemode Events in Grand Theft Auto Online are a new advancement in open world gameplay, giving players access to a range of seamlessly integrated games and challenges in GTA Online’s Freemode. Taking full advantage of PS4, there are no menus, lobbies, or load times — just an open Freemode session filled with Friends, Crewmates, rivals, and randoms where spontaneous and chaotic new games and challenges will appear.

At any given moment while in Freemode, one of these events may kick off and you can tailor and customize your session to decide exactly which ones you want to occur so you can play as much or as little of this new content as you like. With countless variations on each Freemode Event, there are tons of unique new experiences each offering new opportunities for reaping GTA$ and RP in GTA Online.

Feeling locked and stocked? Look out for King of the Castle — an every-man-for-himself turf war where you’ll need to ascend and claim the designated “castle” as your territory — and then fend off everyone else as they go all out to dethrone you. Form fragile alliances and work together in modes like Hunt the Beast, where one volunteer is temporarily transformed into a faster, stronger, beastly character who must escape relentless pursuers.

Freemode Events also take the shape of insane stunt challenges, such as popping the longest wheelie, catching the most air in a land vehicle, or performing the most near misses in a vehicle without crashing.

Also included with next week’s update are two brand new Adversary Modes. First, Hunting Pack: you’re part of a team tasked to deliver a priority vehicle rigged to explode if it drops below a minimum speed, while your opponents race, ram, and batter to take it down.

Or try Cross the Line, where heavily-armed squads face off across a neutral zone — with the goal of having all team members strategically penetrate their opponents territory to claim victory.

The Freemode Events Update also brings the Rockstar Editor to PlayStation with new features such as an ambient audio and sound effects library, Snapmatic integration, Director Mode updates, and more.

More SINGLE PLAYER content please. GTA:O sucks unless you have a dedicated group to play it with. I literally spent 4 days playing online and could not even start one heist in all that time as someone always leaves once it begins, and the perpetual lobby wait begins all over again.

When will you sell the Online (GTO) SEPARATELY?

I already bought GTA V on PS3, I’ll not pay for the Single Player a second time.

Think about it R*…I’m pretty sure more people would be interested if priced right…

I’d be happy enough if the game had a real sale price for once. I currently have it on 360 but wouldn’t mind playing it online (and replaying single player) on PS4.

Never, and to be quite honest, GTA Online is pretty bad/boring

I hope this speeds up the loading times which are still horrendous for a game which is 2 years old.

Is THIS update on PS3 as well or just PS4?

I know i read PS3 updates are stopping, but wasn’t sure if this was the last one or not.

Well

Rockstar… Do you know how much money you would make if you ported all the online extras for use in single player mode as DLC?

Not for ps3 ? Thats just blah. Anyways its about that time single player gets some content as well.

They’re making single player DLC, but quality takes time.. it’s why GTA takes 5+ years to make, and MGSV took 7 years to make, and why they’re some of the best rated games ever. They take their time to make something great, instead of just releasing something good and spending more money on marketing rather than on making. Patience is a beautiful thing!

And technology has advanced, you can’t expect the ps3 to be the same as the ps4… it’s clear the PS3 can’t handle the stuff they’re putting in the game now.

Surprised this doesn’t have more comments!

Thanks for the continuous + FREE updates to GTA V, R*! This game is always fun if you love cars + f’ing stuff up with friends :P Nice new game-modes, and it shows you care about the next gen “ports” of these games that you’re taking the time to put in features that only the next gen consoles can handle (a free roam mode with different game modes and NO loading screens?!). Can’t wait to see how it works, and if so I wish the rest of GTA Online would work that way as well, lol.

Gotta say it again though.. it’s all FREE. I’ve counted at least 13 FREE updates to GTA Online… multiply that with the creator mode / event maker and you have a game that is ENDLESS (as long as you have some friends with some imagination, or ones that know how to bookmark good races / playlists…).

Epic game, showing a “AAA” game like Destiny how online (and offline) should be done…with SOCIAL features and TONS of VARIETY, and unlike Destiny you don’t pay $20 for that variety. That’s the difference between a company that cares about QUALITY art first and a company that cares about $ first.

Freemode is so hard when your enemies are level 200+

And you are less than 100 !! So king of the castle is worthless !!

I ENJOY GTAV VERY MUCH. IT WOULD GREAT TO DO ALL HEIST WITH TWO PEOPLE, IT’S VERY HARD TO GET PLAYERS TO DO HEIST SET-UP AND OR JUST TO DO THE HEIST. PEOPLE LIKE TO START AND THEN QUIT, WHICH SUCKS! I HAVE A DEDICATED FRIEND THAT I PLAY WITH AND IF IT ONLY TOOK TWO PEOPLE TO DO HEIST WOULD BE WAY BETTER. PLEASE LOOK IN TO THIS MATTER, THANK YOU.
