This week, we celebrated the 20th anniversary PlayStation’s launch in North America. Now, it’s your turn. Tell us — what’s the best original PlayStation game of all time? Cast your vote(s) below by next Tuesday, September 15th at midnight Pacific Time.

See below for a starter list of games, but note: you can submit two votes, and you can write in an answer if you don’t see it in the list below.

    I had to write down The Unholy War, good game and severely underrated, just like Wild 9.

      I did love unholy war so many hours spent fighting my brother back in the day. (Mantis was my favorite :p.) Oh geez I forgot about Wild 9 that was creative in the truest form of the word. Solve puzzles or dilemmas with sanctioned brutality it was beautiful as it was funny, gory, and just wow I can’t believe I forgot it. The earthworm Jim of playstation imo.

    Nothing even comes close… except for Tekken 3… and Gran Turismo 2… and Symphony of the Night… and, oh PS1, you were grand. :)

    Speaking of which, when will we see Brave Fencer Musashi and the Lunar games come to PSN. There are a lot of other games I’m surprised haven’t come out by now that you would think would be no-brainers.

    Castlevania symphony of the night and final fantasy 7 for me but if I can choose more I will add:
    1. Valkyrie profile (great gameplay and seriously mature story)
    2. Final fantasy tactics (see above)
    3. Xenogears (see above)
    3. Metal gear solid (the first time I see hollywood calliber action and voice acting in game)
    4. Resident evil 1 & 2 (the beginning of survival horror, too bad the fifth one end it to become action game)
    5. Tomb raider 1 (this and mario 64 start the 3D platformer genre).
    6. Ape escape (fun 3D platformer)

    All the game in the list is good thought :)

    Come on I had to to type Ratchet and Clank Future Tool’s of Destruction that was the first game I played on ps3 and the original was my first on ps2 that’s 90% of my childhood

    on a side note man i would kill for a ps4 disc of all these games in one box! call it playstation – the 1st 20 years. add a few imports and interviews with dev and playstation memories from execs . come on, you know we want it lol.
    i voted jumping flash 1 and parappa cuz jumping flash 2 wasnt on the list and i think i could only type in 1.

    Look at all those Squaresoft games to choose from. Picking just two wasn’t easy, but went with Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy VIII.

    Nice job with the list,even though I still have ma PS1 games the list still brought me some memories.

    The Wrath of Cortex ain’t a PS1 game though,its a PS2 one and sadly the last good Crash game to be released.

    Damn shame you guys didn’t add Jackie Chan Stuntmaster,Apocalypse and Capcom vs. SNK there.

    Metal Gear and Syphon Filter 2 took ma vote,easily the best PS1 games.

    MANY GAMES OF PS1 WERE AWESOME.
    I CHOSEN TONY HAWK 2 AND I WROTE TEST DRIVE 5.
    THESE GAMES GIVE ME A LOT OF MEMORIES.

    I don’t have any favorites. I love so many of these games, and love them equally as they each were a unique experience. I did vote for Legend of Dragoon tho because I want to see a hd remaster with trophy support (with platinum trophy of course) and/or a sequel.

    The first game I have ever played on PlayStation was Crash Team Racing and I loved it from the very beginning and still play it to this day. My vote for the best origional PlayStation game has to go to it. Happy birthday PlayStation, hope you give us many more years of entertainment.

    It’s so hard to decide; seeing this list brought back so many great memories. Most of these games are my favorite simply because of the people who I was playing them with. Ape Escape has always been my personal favorite because of how adventurous it was, but nothing could beat the 4 or 5 of us switching off playing Crash Bandicoot next door everyday before school. That along with Tony Hawk 2 and Gran Turismo! But the absolute best multiplayer, the very first “every man for themselves” shoot-em-up for me; before CoD, before Battlefield, even before Halo was 007 Goldeneye. Nothing blew my mind more than the very first time we set each players screen on different tvs. The wonder and fun that it brought couldn’t be matched, even with these next gen games coming out.

      After reviewing this, I actually meant 007 Nightfire, and that was released on ps2. But regardless, that game gave some amazing memories!

    Final Fantasy VII and Mega Man X4 2 of my best PS1 games^^
    i have Resident Evil 2 Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania Symphony of the Night in mind too but too many good choices between only 2 titles >< lol:P

    I voted Metal Gear Solid because this game blow my mind off when Psycho Mantis read my memory games. Also, I vote Final Fantasy VII because it is best game of all games, IMO.

    Heart of Darkness: First game that made me fully endure the struggle and made me feel so accomplished when i finally beat it. i love this game, currently waiting on amazon to ship me a copy of it so i can relive the struggle again.

    Metal Gear Solid: Metal Gear?!?! I love this series. from the plot, movie like cinematics, and gameplay. the original is in my top 5 favorite games and will be hard to pushed out of that list. Konami, please dont try to make another one, you’ll never find anyone to fill in Hideo’s shoes to keep this series going.

      COLONY WARS all the way!!!! Make a new one Sony, you know it makes sense on PS4 and Morpheus!

      JUMPING FLASH 2 was my second choice, absolutely loved that game back in the days and there’s nothing else like it. Don’t know if it’d fit Morpheus as it could be quite hard to stomach ;) But as a little PSN game for PS4 it’d fit like a glove!

    As it came out only on PS3 (in the western part of the world) I think it deserves its place. :(

    Suikoden II and FFIX are literally flawless games.

    If you guys haven’t played the first two Suiko games I highly recommend you do so.

    The best game hands down on the PS was The Legend of Dragoon! No other game had characters transform in to anything to fight bosses like this game did.

    The Legend of Dragoon and Suikoden II. It was indeedly the toughest choice I’ve made my entire life with all these many amazing games on the list, but I’ll always adore The Legend of Dragoon as my favorite game of all time.
