MatterFall on PS4 is the Latest from Arcade Experts at Housemarque

Hey there, PlayStation fans, Ian Pickles from XDEV Studios Europe here with exciting news.

After the premiere at the Paris Games Week Press Conference, I’m pleased to announce MatterFall for PS4, the next game from our favorite arcade action masters, Housemarque.

MatterFall follows an unexpected hero fighting for survival on a ravished sci-fi world infected by a mysterious and deadly alien material known only as “Smart Matter.”

Using agility and powerful weaponry you must explore this new world and utilize your own control over the Smart Matter to uncover the mystery of this new threat and save the day before it threatens the very existence of the human race.

Expect over-the-top action through a vivid sci-fi world and all the addictive, lightning-fast arcade gameplay that you would expect from our friends at Housemarque, the veteran team behind PlayStation classics Resogun, Dead Nation, and Super Stardust.

Both myself and the team at Housemarque look forward to sharing more news on MatterFall in the future.

Wow what an amazing gameplay preview. Truly the wave of the future. Frenetic text based arcade gameplay.

I’m intrigued by the setting of the game but I still don’t know what kind of game it is from the cinematic. Is it a twin stick shooter, side scrolling platformer, 3rd person adventure?

Excited to learn about anything that comes out of Housemarque but this one leaves me with more questions than answers!

Is the game 2.5D platforming? Top down twin stick? Something else in between? Single player? Online co-op? Local co-op? :-)

I’m intrigued, but the reel at the show appeared to be a pre-render? I love the idea of taking the voxel destruction to the next level, visually and viscerally, beyond simple physics and classic lighting techniques per-voxel.

Hopefully the next Housemarque email newsletter will link to a 1080p60 video of actual gameplay for Digital Foundry to analyze :)

Housemarque? Check. Awesome explodey destruction? Check.
If this game is half as awesome as RESOGUN is, I’ll have to buy it on day 1.

From a purely visual standpoint, it looks kinda like Binary Domain and Vanquish – both outstanding shooters. Don’t know what this is, but I hope it’s at least interesting. And I hope it’s a real deal 3rd person shooter production, not like a top-down twin stick type download. All the “arcadey” talk being thrown around in the piece makes it sound like it’s going to be a download…
