Beyond: Two Souls Coming to PS4 on Nov. 24th, Heavy Rain Out Next Year

Hello, PlayStation fans. I’m pleased to announce that Beyond: Two Souls is coming to PS4 next week, complete with graphical improvements and new fan-requested features. You’ll be able to download it from PlayStation Store starting November 24th for $29.99.

Players will have another chance to experience the story of Jodie Holmes (played, excellently, by Ellen Page), a young woman who possesses supernatural powers through her psychic link to an invisible entity. Holmes’ journey is intertwined with the complex Dr. Dawkins (brought to life by the inimitable Willem Dafoe), on PS4.

The PS4 edition of the game features a number of improvements:

  • Enhanced 1080p graphics including motion blur, bloom and depth of field effects, as well as improved lighting and shadows. The game also makes use of the DualShock 4 speaker to improve immersion when playing as the Entity.
  • Decisions are highlighted at the end of each scene and compared with those made by other players.
  • You can now play the game in chronological order right from the start – a much requested feature in the PS3 version!
  • Increased difficulty in certain fight scene, combined with improved controls for action sequences.
  • Includes the “Enhanced Experiments” DLC.

Update: An earlier version of this post stated that players would have to complete the game before being able to play it in chronological order. This feature is unlocked from the start of the game.

We can also now confirm that Heavy Rain will be coming to PS4 digitally next year on March 1st. For those attending PlayStation Experience this year, you’ll be able to get hands-on time with both Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain.

What’s more, those who purchase Beyond: Two Souls digitally will be entitled to download Heavy Rain on PS4 when it releases at a discount.

We really hope you enjoy revisiting these games or experiencing them for the first time!

  • Definitely been excited to play this and now on PS4 is the perfect time! :D

  • Thank you Sony and Quantic Dream. I did not have a chance to play Beyond Two Souls on PS3 as I have moved on to PS4. Now I will definetively check it out. Please bring Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered to PS4.

  • Excatly what we needed — ANOTHER PS3 PORT.

  • I have been waiting for this game to launch on PS4 since the day the PS4 was announced. I played only the Demo on PS3 and I didn’t get a chance to get the full game, but this time it’s a day one purchase for me. Really excited!!

  • I wonder if the discounted price would be offered for Beyond Two Souls for me after I purchase Heavy Rain. I don’t really have much interest in playing Beyond Two Souls again, but I am very interested in playing an upgraded Heavy Rain again (which better include the post-release DLC mission.

  • Awesome, more remasters/sarcasm.

  • Will there be a retail release in NA? I would love to play Beyond again on PS4, and Heavy Rain finally [never got around to getting it on PS3].

    But I want it retail.

  • As a Sony fan one of the things I’m more proud of is the creativity and the skill you guys have to bring fantastic new IPs.Y’all running outta of ideas now to keep releasing these shameful recycled PS3 games?…………LAME LAME LAME…SHAMEFUL beyond the stratosphere.Go wash your face outta that shame Sony.

  • The page your article links to says

    Release Date: 11/24/2016

    2016! Not 2015….

    Great info coordination there playstation.com

  • never had the chance to play this one on ps3, will gladly take it for a chance at another platinum :)

  • I guess I just don’t understand gaming anymore. I’ve held off on getting a PS4 because up until recently it’s been indie games or a glut of $50 “remastered” games that I can play for a fraction of the price on my PS3, minor improvements notwithstanding. It’s frustrating to me because I’d be so much more excited about new games than these repackaged games of yore. It’s not that the games weren’t great on PS3, I just don’t see why there would be any enthusiasm for playing them again on PS4. I’m starting to finally see some new titles that are tempting me for getting a PS4 in the coming year, but it sure has been a slow build-up.

    • Honestly, I just like having a reason to replay certain games. The Nathan Drake Collection is a great way to refresh my memory on the Uncharted story before Uncharted 4 drops next year. And while I wait for Detroit, I’m excited to replay Heavy Rain (and try Beyond for the first time).

Remasters give a reason to replay or give a newcomer an updated, improved experience closer to more modern games.

  • YES! Super psyched about this! I never finished Heavy Rain and I never started Beyond: Two Souls (though I did buy it). Looking forward to these enhanced versions.

I realize it’s not Quantic Dream, but can we get a Heavenly Sword remaster in advance of Hellblade? Would love to replay that amazing game on my PS4.

  • So excited for Heavy Rain on the PS4! Hoping to see some new features for that game as well!

  • I skipped this on the PS3, is it worth picking it up and giving it a shot?

  • So many people saying they prefer physical copies, there is a serious downside. Upgrade discounts. I’ve got both of these on disc, not digital, and I’d dearly love to migrate over to the PS4 versions, but no way will I buy them both again at retail.

There’s a simple solution, though, if Sony would consider it. Owners of the disc versions should be allowed to simply put their discs into their PS3s to prove ownership and trigger the PS3->PS4 discount, similar to the various disc-to-digital programs offered by movie streaming sites like Vudu. Heck, a full D2D program for PSN games, to “convert” one’s collection to digital, would be insanely useful and popular.

Now if only a PTB from Sony would happen across this thread, spot that comment, and say, “Hey, that’s not a bad idea! We should set that up!” :)

  • No word of a physical release with both games? I really prefer that.

  • I wonder what the fan requested features are? Sadly the game was a disappointment. Heavy Rain was a great game with replay value, did not feel the same with Beyond Two Souls. I was expecting a more intreaging story. I hope that when Heavy Rain is released that the controller is more responsive.

    • The most fan requested feature is to play in chronological order B2S story. And that is coming to PS4 and not to PS3 as many fans requested.

  • So,if the game is going to be available tomorrow, why is there no sign of the game in the Mexican PS Store…?
    I was just wondering

  • Is there a time frame when the game will be added? I don’t see it listed on the PSN, besides the PS3 version. I’m really looking forward to playing this game.

  • Hey can anyone confirm that a disc combo of Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain for PS4 is coming to the US? I know its coming to Europe but haven’t seen a definitive confirmation of US release.

  • Here I am looking for it and it’s 2016 NOT 2015 as the article says. Lovely

  • It’s November 25th and still no game in the store. Something went wrong?

    • @knari_cy – manually search for it in the online store or on the machine by going to search – doesn’t appear in the latest games for some reason.

I bought it on Tuesday – but you have to look for it by name. Quite a few games get ‘hidden’ on the store by this bug – its annoying.

  • All of you stop being cry babys about a game.. Just buy the digital there wont be a disc version… Thats almost never with remastered games.. Talking about the bundle it wil be only available on digital thats what sony told me.. And complaining about that the game is the same ps3 and heavy rain not it wil be the same too… March is a lie there wont be a disc version sony told me everything i was mad aswell because i was done buying digital games but who cares its the same only not a disc inside that makes your ps4 more like a yet engine .. (My opinion)

  • Nice! I’m probably going to buy Two Souls, it looks really cool.

Un unrelated question that I’m hoping someone can help me answer: I need to buy a new headset to use for my PS4. Any recommendations? I’m considering the HyperX Cloud that’s recommended here: http://www.headphonesunboxed.com/best-ps4-headset/ Anyone tried it? Any other suggestions? Thanks.
