  • What a slap in the face for people who own the camera and move controllers already…. Come on guys. This is unacceptable.

  • Super frustrated with Sony of America right now. I already own move controllers and the ps4 camera. So now I can’t preorder the PSVR because it’s only available in a bundle with stuff I already have?

This is really unfair to your most loyal fans who have supported you by buying your peripherals. Please offer a preorder for the PSVR without the move and camera (like you did in all other countries).

    • Damn they’re not punishing America, Lol. Sony still will sell the $399.99 core system in the US. It’s March preorders may begin in the up coming months in the US.

  • Like everyone else I supported Sony by purchasing both a PS4 Camera at launch and Move controller when they were released, so not allowing me to assure I’ll have PSVR launch hardware by having a Core Bundle pre-order bundle is a big slap in the face. I really think you all need to rethink this, because it’s really soured the entire launch announcement now.

  • Hi All,
Like many of us I’ve been silently waiting for PSVR pre orders. Tracking any and all news it’s been a near foregone conclusion that I would be clicking refresh quickly on preorder day. I’ve always supported PlayStation since PS2 currently with PS4, Vita, and soon a PSVR. I went ahead and bought the ps camera, move controllers. Demand for both of those products sky rocketed by 1000% after the announcement of the core system without these items. All the European core preorders were taken without issue. My question is will any of us be able to play psvr day one without double purchasing all of these accessories? If so my refresh button might get a break.

  • The most frustrating issue (aside from not offering standalone headset pre-orders) is that even if the CDN dollar bounces back to $0.85+ before October, it will take Sony (and many other multi-national corporations) nearly a year to readjust its prices in Canadian markets.

I still remember when the CDN dollar first reached par with the US dollar, and for almost a year Canadians were still paying $2.99 for a single Rock Band song download from the PS Store. We’ve been living in the information age for quite some time now, but nobody bothered to tell the corporations apparently…

And of course, if the dollar is falling, companies jack up prices in a heartbeat.

  • This looks like a very good value even if you already own a camera or the move controls. The Move controller is retailing at $25 each and the camera at $50. I imagine the game that is included will retail at $40-$50. So there is at least $540 worth of value in the bundle. I will definatly be pre-ordering this bundle.

    • Those are used prices as well. Since everything is new the moves are $40 each and the camera is $60, so its actually a $580 value, assuming the game is only $40 as opposed to $60.

    • $44 on Amazon for the cam $23 for move sticks all new. I don’t no where he’s getting his prices from lol

  • Sony is making stuff up as they go, they have no launch plans. Announce 399 to steal headlines with no real plan to follow through with 399. Such a BS publicity stunt.

    • Exactly! Well said.

    • 399 is the price of only the core bundle. You people will likely have a chance to pre-order just the core bundle during the second wave the article talks about and everyone here seems to have so gracefully overlooked.

    • What are you taking about Amazon UK had the PSVR core system up for preorder. Sony isn’t going back on anything there’s $399.99 core system and $499.99 bunde

  • Going to add myself to the chorus of people who are bummed that there isn’t a preorder for the core bundle while I sit here with move controllers and camera in hand.

  • I haven been refreshing my Amazon PS VR page for most of the past 2 days, every few minutes – hoping to see a “Pre-order” option. All I want to do is to be able to pre order a core headset, just like the UK and AUS.

  • That is some top tier bait and switch!

  • Another fumble by a company making customers buy a freaking bundle which contains products most of us already have half the items to.

Come on Sony, you’re better than this! Don’t ruin this by being greedy. You’re core customers that really want YOUR VR are already going to have all these “extras” you are putting into this bundle.

    • I’m buying the vr and I have neither of these, except the camera I got with my 20th anniversary bundle. Why? Because heretofore, they were completely useless and I was smart enough to not waste my money. Hell, I’m not even sure if I’m going to actually follow up and buy this at launch. I might cancel my pre-order if I feel like ours not worth it between now and launch (assuming I get the pre-order).

  • Even though I have the camera and move controllers, I’ll probably pre-order this bundle just to make sure I get it launch day. I’m going to sell off the camera and extra controllers to a friend who is waiting. It just sucks that I have to do it that way (don’t want to wait in a long line and risk not even getting one.

  • will pre orders sell out quick ? i really want one and ill pre order it on the 22nd but i hope they dont sell out.

  • Yikes, those Canadian prices. Hope our dollar takes a turn for the better soon.

  • Sony already has your money. You don’t matter anymore. Why allow pre orders on bundle first? Because that’s more money for them. The most messed up thing is he doesn’t even say anything about the core pack other than “it’s not available for preorder”. That’s messed up.

    • i dont have any move controllers or camera, i cant wait.

why would i buy the camera or those controllers before the headset was out, we knew it was coming for years.

  • I Still think I am going to preorder this if I could change it to the core later I might but for now I would pay this just to guarantee I get one come launch day

  • Anyone want to pre-order a camera and move controller bundle? It should hopefully be available in October, ;)

  • As a PS4 Cam owner, Sad to hear The core PS VR $399.99 bundle, is not available for pre-order.

In truth I never wanted to purchase or use Move controllers. So not sure if this is a quick sell for me. Unless

    Besides just gaming:
    – Can the PS VR be use wirelessly if yes what is the battery life?
    – Can the PS VR be used as a stand alone 2D & or 3D movie/tv viewing device
    – .If movies are watchable what screen size & resolution can it resemble” Ex 40″ 55″ or 100″ 720p 1080p 4k
    – Can the PS VR be able to use the Web/Youtube/Twitch for viewing pleasure?
    – Can I use my already owned PS4 Gold wireless audio headsets.

    • 1 – that’s a good question, I don’t know.
2&3 – yes, it can be used to watch any movie, even 3d, and I believe it has 3 levels of zoom, plays in 1080p up to 120 fps.
4 – since it can be used as a display for movies, etc, I see no reason why it would be unable to display youtube videos, etc.
5 – also a good question. Based on the earbuds I saw in the bundle we will most likely be able to use any headphones with a 3.5mm jack, I can’t wait to test my sennheisers.

  • Sony, I hope you’re reading these comments and see how much goodwill you’ve burned with your inexplicable decision not to allow us to pre-order the version YOU ANNOUNCED this week. It is so strange.

  • This is what you get for buying all the Sony accessories when it came out and in multiple orders. What is it that you get? You get to be treated like filth. Because, oh, no, no pre-order for you slave.

    Seriously?
Well, I really hate to use what is following but:

    FAIL sony, FAIL.

Do you want to make me start to hate PS VR? Well, you are doing a good job then, continue.

  • I wonder which stores they are talking about?

  • I’m just ordering bundle to make sure I get one then switch it to core when pre order is available not a big deal relax

    • Exactly! The amount people crying in these comments is unbelievable. Relax people, if you already own the peripherals the Core bundle will be made available in time. It’s not a huge deal. Relax, take the sick out of you *** and just be patient.

  • Not sure but seems the latest blog news surrounding PS VR is not meant for internal replies. Possibly used to gather user/coimment feedback. Though I do hope my comment/concerns can get a few departmental eyes on it. ;0)

  • The price of that bundle makes a LOT more sense than the price of the core VR. But still, in CAD it’s a lot of money. It’s actually a lot more than the whole console. It’s too much for me sadly. I hope the demande will be high and that it’ll drop the price of the product over a year.

  • So I guess I’m waiting??

  • damn, there’s a bunch of crying over nothing, the $399.99 core bundle will be ready for preorder. It’s freaking March, Lol stop the crying. Sony didn’t cancel the $399.99 core, forcing ppl to buy cams and move sticks, this isn’t the Kinect.

  • PSVR core will be available for pre-order. Why is everyone so upset?

    • I guess because they said –

“The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”

    • I guess we are then differently understanding the “is not available” in:

“The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”

    • Read the entire page (the bottom). It stills says it will be available for pre-order soon.

The bundle will be available for pre-order which the core bundle is currently not available at the time.

  • We were told this would cost the same as a console. A PS4 console in Canada is about $429, not $549. Console bundles are $449-$499, certainly not $699 like the VR bundle.

Pretty disappointed Sony. These price points make your VR a toy for the rich, not for the vast majority of your gamers.

  • I was very pleased to see a bundle announcement. I am curious if the move controllers have been updated from the original design. Now to hope to get a pre order locked in.

  • Gotta love Sony charging an extra $50 Canadian for the bundle! The $500 US bundle ,when converted to Canadian currency, should only be $650 Canadian, (not the $700 they’re charging) Quit the price gouge!!!!!

  • Not sure why everyone is so upset about not being able to preorder the core bundle, it’s not like there are going to be Wii-like shortages of PSVR.

  • “The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”

    …WUT.

  • i love this 400$ price and 500$ bundle price sounds great!!! but i live in CANADA and this is getting ridiculous 550$ for the core and now 700$ for the bundle like i don’t even know what to say anymore 200$ more? in CANADA!! why 150$ more now to 200$ more. i want to buy this so bad i want SONY to to take my money ! i been waiting for this for awhile now! but its the principle that counts here i can walk across boarder and buy one for a reasonable price. i can understand Australia being price so high because its a island but CANADA is part of North America. it should not cost that much to ship it across. and i know Canadian dollar value is at play here but still it just not right ! and let me be clear i am not blaming SONY for this! well they could have eaten a little bit away! but now my QUESTION for Sony is will this bundle be available dont pre-order this can i buy this bundle when it comes outé or will this be a limited time offer?

  • I can only assume, even launching as far off as October, that you simply cannot make enough this year to meet the demand from excited fans. It is rather unfortunate that you would follow up such a well received announcement of price and release date (month), with such complete disregard to those who would most support its launch. To have those of us whom enjoy the PlayStation brand enough to buy most peripherals. To work fervently to find a core bundle in a local store, before the
United stock runs out. Then wait weeks or months for fresh stock to come in. Just shameful. I’m glad you are having two different bundles, don’t get me wrong. This $499 bundle is a great deal for those who need everything in one purchase. I just don’t see those buyers being anywhere near the number of Core bundle buyers.

  • Great bundle, but as someone who already has two move controllers. I am not happy I cannot buy the VR headset alone. Basically will need to decide if it is worth an extra $100 for the camera and game collection.

    • For the love of Playstation just do some research, they announced a version with out the extra stuff 2 days ago, come on people.

  • What the…? We can’t pre-order the core bundle??? That’s an insult to the biggest fans! :(

  • The Core Bundle should also come with VR Worlds… keep long time PS fans happy, the ones that have the camera and move controllers since day one…

  • I can’t believe all the complaining I’m seeing in these comments. They announce the price of the PS VR unit at $399 with none of the necessary peripherals and people complain. They then announce a bundle for $399 WITH those peripherals and people complain. Some of the comments don’t even complain about the price, they complain about already having the peripherals and want a pre-order package without them at $399. How does that even make sense? Take the extra peripherals and try to sell them for a profit. Or throw them in the trash. Or keep them in the closet for the time where your main unit will inevitably stop working. Or don’t. Whatever, just stop complaining. I honestly hope Sony stays the course just to annoy all you people complaining. Its ridiculous.

    • I agree with you! I mean people complained about the PlayStation 3 when it was first released and how much it was going. And now people complain about the PlayStation 4 not having all the features the PS3 had mostly about backwards capability and music too. Mankind is never happy with what ever comes out period! lol.

  • I don’t need all that but I’m going to anyways I want this so bad I’m going th of getting this bundle to insure I get a vr

  • Reading all the comments of people complaining or whatever is just sad, they have now announced 2 version to choose from common sense would be they both will be for pre order on the 22nd for people with the accessories & people with out just use your brains for one second….facepalm.

  • Umm, I already own the PS4 camera and two Move controllers, but I wasn’t going to pre-order anyway. Even that VR Core thing is pretty expensive at $400. I’ll want to try the thing out at a demo kiosk and actually like a game made for VR before I even consider plopping down $400 for it.

  • This is pretty stupid. I bought a camera and two controllers on the 15th after the announcement. I’m not going to return them to buy this bundle now. Im with everyone else. Why announce a $399 package and say there wont be a bundle, offer that package in europe and then change it in America after three days of silence. Who knows how many other people bought everything in the last few days in preparation.

  • How much money will I have to put down on this pre order PSVR bundle? And which retailers will be doing this on Tuesday?

  • I own 1 move controller and a Camera But might pick this up and sale my old stuff to put down on this bundle. So it will be $5 store credit for my MOVE controller and another $5 for my Camera so the price for me will be $490.00 plus tax Wow O.W.N.
    have a good day ALL!

  • Jesus are you guys really that naive? They ALREADY offer pre-orders for the headset alone in the UK, Canada, and the AU. Do you really think they’re going to neglect their biggest market? No. Relax. I’m sure more info will come out. IF YOURE THAT BUTTHURT, YOU CAN PREORDER IT HERE AND HAVE IT DELIVERED TO THE US (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStation-VR/dp/B00I9WWBCQ)

  • I hope retail offers an à la carte option as I have most of these devices like the camera and move.

  • That’s a really good priced bundle. I’m still concerned about Motion Sickness, and I wasn’t able to try out PSVR at E3 last year, but I’ll probably snag the pre-order bundle to have one locked down, then hopefully be able to test it out at this years E3.

    • I worry about this, as well. Steve Wozniak made a logical comment regarding motion sickness and VR in his recent AMA, making the point that motion sickness was an issue with some of the first FPS titles, like the original Doom. Seems silly to think of something so simple causing motion sickness, but I remember feeling that “prickly skin and nausea” when I first started playing the original Duke Nukem. I was able to play a little longer every time, and pretty soon it was no big deal. I’m confident that the same will be true with VR. It’ll just take a bit of time to get used to it.

  • Sony needs to clear this up ASAP. The Push Square article that some people are referring to is referencing a link on Sony’s page that pulls up the launch bundle at $500 when you click on the “Preorders coming soon” button. So I wouldn’t believe the conjecture on their site over the words written out clear as day at the bottom of this blog post that states:

“The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”

There’s no “at this time” or “for now” anywhere in there. It flat out says “No preorders for the core bundle.” This issue needs to be cleared up. ASAP

  • Looks great — thanks, folks! I’ll be ready on the 22nd.

  • Its totally acceptable to me I like a logistics challenge. In any case I bought the move controllers with my PS3 to play Move games, and I have enjoyed them over the years. Getting to play VR games with controllers I already own is a bonus. Look at it that way. I bought the camera at launch cause I thought it was cool, but don’t use it much other than logging in. A lot of people use the camera for streaming. So now along comes a headset, that uses preexisting peripherals, they’re not making you rebuy them or buy entirely new models, and everyone has to find *something* to ***** about right out the gate. I’m tired of all this whiny entitlement for things that bring entertainment. 1st world problems “I cant click on a button and have my headset magically appear at my doorstep on launch day waaaa. Worse even *someone else* might actually get it before I do” . Get over it and examine your life’s priorities.
