  • Sony, a lot of people already have the accessories. For them, you should open pre-orders of the core psvr.

  • Guys it says in the post that the core PS VR pre order price will be announced later on, reading comprehension 101.

    • “The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”

    • “The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”

    • People aren’t doing research. The VR core is still stated as saying it will be available soon. People just have to wait.

  • Wow, I’m not going to lie. I think it’s kind of rotten that those of us who already have a camera and two Moves have to wait longer to preorder a core system. It’s not like you’re getting less money out of me. You already got my money for those things.

  • Sony’s own Playstation VR website (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/explore/playstation-vr/) says that pre-orders are coming soon for the $399 stand-alone headset.

    • The backlash of this “miscommunication” on here, Twitter, Reddit, Gaf has been huge. And Sony has yet to come out to confirm or deny anything. My theory is that they flip flopping on their plan. They first decided to only offering the bundle to maximize the profit. Now they are thinking of the backlash is worth it and may change their plan (hopefully).

  • Are the move controllers going to be updated in any way and re-released?
And I only have the camera? You guys think this bundle is worth or should I wait to buy it piecemeal?

    • I only have the camera as well and I’m still buying this bundle. The move controllers would be a total of $50 if you buy used, $80 if you buy new. I should be pretty easy to sell a $60 playstation camera on cragslist for $40 to offset the extra cost, since I really don’t like buying used.

    • Move is $30 on Amazon so make it $60. Plus $40 for the camera, you’re getting a “free” game, that, like Sports Champions, will be sold new for $10 on Amazon late 2017.

I do not think they are releasing new move controllers, otherwise they would state “PS Move 2.0 controllers” or something like that to get people to buy the big bundle.

  • I pretty much have everything so I just need the stand-alone headset. When can I pre order that one?????

  • for those who complain over this Core Bundle, why did you just jumped the PSVR bandwagon too early by starting to buy PS Move and Camera?

    remember the motto: “Don’t Pre-Order!”

    • Well I’ve had the camera for two years and the Move controllers the day they came out. So, yea, I’m a bit upset.

    • Many of us bought Moves back when they were nothing more than a PS3 peripheral with an awesome ping-pong game to play with them, and we also bought cameras with our PS4s at launch. Neither of these purchases had anything to do with the then non-existent PSVR.

    • ????? I don’t even understand what you say OP.

The PS Move was bought along with the “motion controller” and the shotgun back in the day when Killzone 3 came out.

Then the PS Camera was bought on launch day because we (the suckers) thought some games may include alternate methods, unfortunately they camera was only usable in the Room game whatever it was called with the little robots, and obviously most of us just use it for live streaming nowadays.

I don’t think nobody bought any move controllers OR camera back in 2015 thinking about VR….

Now, the people who bought a camera or move this week when the announcement… well, bad move or smart move as they know they’ll go up in price.

  • “All heavily invested playstation fans already have the peripherals”. Where the hell did you get that idea? Do you think all of playstations staunchest fans and supporters are stupid? I never bought either out these because there was absolutely no developer support for them and I had better sony products to spend my money on, like games I could actually play. The only reason I the camera nite is because one of them came with my 20th anniversary console. The only reason I’m thinking about getting ps vr is because I’ve already tried out and it had lots of developer support.

    • Actually, you’d probably be surprised how many games used PS Move.

    • Wow, it just posted my comment randomly before I could finish typing.*because I’ve already tried it out and it has lots of developer support. Does this make me less of a hardcore sony fan? No, it just means I’m smarter with my money than you are.I agree that they should release just the vr for pre-order, but you have to realize that you people are actually a minority, even amongst sony fans, ado you’ll have to wait a little longer. You’ll probably be able to pre-order that during that second wave in summer.

    • @Elvick- Not really, most of them just used it as sort of a side option, like the mini games from the sly collection. I have more than 200 games for my ps3 right now and none of them need the ps move for anything other than some gimmicky, pointless bull crap.

  • Gonna add my disappointment in with the others that there is not going to be an option to Pre-order the core PSVR. Already have the camera and move controllers. Unless the move controllers have been updated since original release, I don’t need this bundle. I need the Core package. I can buy the game separately if need be. Or package that in with the Core Package as well.

  • $700? *faints*

    • There is no $700 price tag on any bundle. Read the article.

    • Copied from the article: At $499.99, this bundle provides an unbeatable value for those of you looking to get right into VR gaming with your PlayStation 4. • So essentially the plan is to sell preorders for the $700 bundle and get people who already have the peripherals to buy them again. They’re counting on the fact that alot of people will want to avoid the risk that an eventual base system preorder will either (a) never be announced or (b) have substantially less allocation hence greater risk that you’re out of luck on Day 1 if you wait for that preorder (so better to just pony up and preorder the $700 version).

No wonder they took so long to make the announcement, they had to figure just how many would take the bait and balance it against how much flak they’ll receive for playing their little marketing games.

Provide clarity on your presell plans Sony. We know you want to say you sold through the initial wave of preorders in 1 day but play it fair and not at the expense of your loyal early adopters.

  • the us dollar=1.30 canadian dollar so it should be like 649.73 or 650 without tax
    thanks sony

  • I hope you plan to bundle VR Worlds with the $399 base unit, otherwise you’re really screwing over some of your biggest customers who have already bought the camera and Move controllers.

  • Neogaf must be in here because I see a lot of unnecessary crying in here. Thy’re gonna release the stand alone model at a later date. As of right now they’re selling the bundle. If you already have the camera and the move controllers, then simply wait for the stand alone version. Problem solved.

    • I don’t how you don’t see this move (pun intended) is offensive to the people who’ve been supporting PS4 for a long time (lby buying the camera at launch) and the people who’ve been following very bit of news of PSVR (and bought the camera after the GDC announcement) ?

For all we know, there’s an official announcement that says “The core PS VR bundle is not available for pre-order.”
Sure MAYBE they will change their mind and let us pre-order the Core instead of having to wait in-line at BestBuy.
MAYBE the vague placeholder-like message on the PSVR page is actually not a placeholder text. But it’s sure as hell from this announcement that the people who want the Core bundle are 2nd-tier customers.

  • Considering that the competitors are selling their own headsets for $600-900, this one is still a lot more affordable…still…I’m going to be a late adopter, for once.
As someone who bought PS Move and (my beloved) Vita early on only to watch Sony abandon them both, I’m still not ready to trust that they will give this the support it needs…and $400 is just way too much for me to gamble with.

  • Sony, you are on some kind of expensive drugs to think $499 US is $699 in Canada. This price GOUGING is getting absurdly out of hand.

  • So When will the UK get a sniff of a Bundle price and pre-order date?

  • Hey, just wondering if you could tell us who the participating retailers will be in Canada?
    Thanks!

  • Got the camera a month ago since the VR need it. I wont buy this bundle for sure. Who the fxxk made this decision!?!

  • No pre order for just the VR itself? I already have the other stuff. Good job Sony. SMH

  • Sony wants $700 CAD for the bundle that’s selling for $500 USD. I understand the Canadian dollar has dropped over the past year but we never really hit the 1.4 conversion rate AFAIK.

The PS4 system is going for $350 USD ($430 CAD) so the exchange rate is approx. 1.23. Using the same rate the PS VR bundle should be about $615 CAD. From here up to $650 CAD would be more reasonable.

CAD rates might have dropped a lot but in most cases our salary didn’t magically go up. Charging as much as $700 the PS VR doesn’t sound very affordable compare to other options.

  • How much will PSVR Worlds cost on its own?

Have camera, no Move. Bundle is looking to be the better deal (x2 Move at $60, right now and rising).

  • So what about the people who don’t need the bundle?!! I already have the move and camera.

    • Then you can wait until they put that one up for pre-order. it will cost you $399 and you have like 6 months left until release so I wouldn’t worry about it if i were you.

  • I would also feel burned if I already owned the camera and/or move controllers, however Sony will not be able to produce enough units on time to suffice for the initial demand. They are going the more logical route: EXPANDING THE USER BASE!

Could you imagine having nearly nobody to play online against because not enough people own the proper, compatible devices? That would mean death on arrival for PS VR, and a struggle to gain momentum.

Once the product is released, the community with compatible devices (camera/move) will be much greater in numbers, thereby benefiting the community AS A WHOLE and not just early adopters or newcomers such as myself.

Again, this is the most logical route that they are taking, and it will benefit all users in the long run.

  • People are actually taking this personally? Anyone that thinks they “deserve” anything from Sony, or any other large corporation, really don’t get it. They’re a business, and not your friend.

Freaking out that a stand alone version isn’t currently announced for pre order? Are you so rabid for things that you don’t think these will be readily available day one?

Why don’t you use that anger to get mad at the direction our real world is heading, and not worry about if you can have your toy before anyone else on your block.

  • “This bundle will also be available in Canada for $699.99 CAD.”

    Well… Nope.

  • Does it need an 3D tv?

  • I’m gonna wait for a RIGS bundle. That’s the only game I care about.

  • Are the Move controllers PS4 branded or are they still the PS3 versions?

  • I’m glad to see a bundle! I was holding off on getting the camera an another Move controller (I already have one from the PS3) until I saw if there would be a bundle, and now I’m glad I did. I was worried about market fragmentation with just the headset launching without the camera initially. This takes care of that issue, and hopefully the standalone unit pre-orders open up soon for everyone who is ready for this and already have their camera and move controllers. The PlayStation Worlds as a pack in will be awesome!

  • I had to long in to just say the people in this comment section are idiots! Of course you will be able to pre-order just the VR headset! They announced the Bundle so consumers know that there will be a bundle because that’s what people were whining about before.

  • What the……..? Playstation, day 1. Playstation 2, day 1. Playstation 3 and 4, both day 1. Move controllers, 2 of them, Playstation eye and PS4 camera all day 1.
So if I want a VR headset day 1, I have to buy the camera and move controllers again………come on Sony. Really!

  • I have a feeling that Sony and their third-parties are only going to support the PS VR during it’s first two years in it’s lifespan. And then, they’ll begin to cut support of it, both first-party and third-party, just like they did to both the PS Move and the PS Vita. As I already have a PS Camera and 1 PS Move motion controller (I might not plan on getting another one) and I’m already investing in the Nintendo NX (as part of my transition from Sony to Nintendo (what I started with)), I have no interest in the PS VR whatsoever.

  • Makes me buckle at the knees with excitment. Ive been waiting since a child for vr. Dave and busters had a setup back in the 90s with a head unit/controller while you were on a treadmill. I was too young to try it. needless to say i have been dreaming of vr since then. 2016 is the year my dream will come true, and im ready for my pre order. I will be biting my nails to the bone and refreshing the browers at 4:59 am my timezone. Cant wait!!!!

  • $700 bucks plus taxes here in Canada? Fear not? I fear greatly. Looks like I’ll be waiting for a price drop for this one. We already pay $450 for PS4, $80 bucks a game and an additional $50 for season’s pass + taxes? I realize they have to pay for development but in the end my bank account does not support my desires.

  • LOL. the people most hyped about preordering are the people who already have cameras and move controllers. what are you trying to pull here sony???

  • Complain, complain, complain. People do nothing but complain. I can’t wait for this, day one pre-order. October can’t come soon enough.

  • We’d better be able to pre order the VR alone package, I was okay with paying about $570 for it in Canada, but as I already have the Move controllers and will be buying the camera soon, I’d rather not have to pay over $900 for the set that comes with a bunch of things I already have.

I know it’s said the core bundle won’t be available for pre order, but hopefully that will happen at some point before release.

    • Okay, well now I realize I was assuming the $699 was in US dollars.

I’m more okay with that price for the whole bundle as I could just resell the parts I don’t need.

  • This is going to flop like MOVE & then be abandoned by SONY just as quickly. Buy it on CLEARANCE in 2 years

  • This is really messed up Sony since release I been having my camera collect dust waiting for that big announcement n now ur saying that I’ll need to purchase everything if I wanna be able to play? I stopped using US devices bcz of that stratagem don’t become like that as well

    • Sony is not only making the bundle, the $399.99 core system isn’t up for preorder yet. There still will be a $399.99 PSVR.

  • Is there going to be a console bundle for this for those who don’t have a PS4 yet? Would be easier to buy if I don’t have to buy the console and this bundle separately.

  • Hmm…I have two move controllers and no camera currently. I actually almost bought one on Amazon yesterday for $45. I suppose depending on the retail cost of PS VR Worlds (if it’s $60) the bundle may still be worthwhile to me. Basically get two free move controllers I may be able to flip. More likely is use them to swap out when the other two die since a lot of VR games seem to use two at once.

I can see why some are frustrated, but I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m sure the stand alone unit will go up for preorder. They just should have chose their words more carefully. My guess is they want to have the bundle on sale for preorder on its own to test the market. The stand alone “core bundle” went on sale in the UK and sold out in minutes. They likely want to see how the bundle sells so they can use that data to decide how they roll out in other territories.

I’m probably going to preorder it no matter what, or try to. If I decide it’s not the best value I can always cancel the preorder.

  • This is a very stupid decision. If the VR requires MOVE and camera, ppl will buy it after getting the core VR. You will only earn extra from those who willing to have extra MOVE and camera. And you just make all early adaptors wait longer, feeling angry and move away from PSVR.

  • Oh.My.God. How freaking stupid are you people? Honestly? Sony announced PSVR for 399$ with an October release date. Guess what, they will actually sell it for 399$ and it will be available for all in October. You just cannot preorder it RIGHT NOW, SIX MONTHS BEFORE RELEASE!!! If you impatient, spoiled, mommy-sponsored kids at least tried to squeeze some common sense out of your brains you would realize that there is NO WAY the 399$ PSVR will not be available for preorder EVER, you just have to wait a bit longer before shoving money up Sony’s and Amazon’s arses for a place in line. Right now, the “complete” bundle is more important to Sony because I guarantee you, most PS4 owners don’t have PS Move and PS Camera. Calm down and BE PATIENT.

  • Why did you decide not to allow people to preorder the core bundle ? I already own the camera and move controllers, so that is the version that I want to buy. Will you do preorders for the core version later this year or is it only the launch bundle ?

  • 7pm in the US right

  • Anyone know if PSVR will be region free? I preordered a core unit on the Amazon UK site, just to be safe. I like in Canada.

    thanks

  • At first, I was bummed. The I thought, yeah the bundle might be where it’s at. Risking my own victory in a pre-order, I am going with the bundle because the extra move controllers alone will be worth it. While I already have two move controllers, and the PS4 camera, I won’t want to stop playing because the controllers ran out of battery. With four move controllers, I’m always in business.

  • OK so here’s my 2 cents.

I think that it is a mistake to only offer anything as exclusive pre-sale as not everyone can or will be able to afford this on release.

I think that having to use the PS Move controller from the PS3 which, was a horrible design when launched, is just a way for Sony to cut corners on cost to compete with the Vive.

I hope that we European customers get the same offer for pre-order as dividing your consumer market by nation is ridiculous especially in 2016!

Also, why aren’t the headphones integrated into the headset?

As far as the external processing unit, I personally feel that this should be able to pull resources from the PS4 and vice versa unless you are going to bring out a PS VR 2.0 with a new set of controllers and a PS4.5 with sufficient resources to support all of this internally then I may have to let this one pass me by.

Kudos for trying to get into the VR market but, it feels rushed, cheap and poorly designed.

Should of pushed it back to 2017 or asked for feedback on the design.

Also, the average human FoV is just shy of 180 degrees and this device is a measly 100 degrees.

    I have said my piece.
