It’s unnecessary to call someone out for bringing a game’s short length (or any other relevant fact) to our attention. I wish *more* of this type of info was posted here, not less. You might have simply pointed out that it was a great game despite its short length (or even because of it) if you feel that way. Some of the games I’ve enjoyed the most were ridiculously short, and I would have nonetheless paid a lot more than I did for them if given the chance. Still, it’s one piece of the puzzle. He’s trying to keep people who are concerned about such things from feeling ripped off after the fact. It’s up to a game’s fans to speak up for its value.

If anything, I would have called rudetoy out for making a non-sequitur reply. :P But then I guess he wanted it near the top where it would be seen. Well played.

    • @luvtowhine- I guess I don’t think devs are frail, fragile little birds, like you do. Yes, the difference between you and I is that you’re plainly looking out for the devs and their feelings as your #1 goal. Well, (shocker!), gamers are also consumers and they make purchase decisions based on crazy things like length of games, the value for their money, etc, whether you like it or not. There’s more of me than they are more of you, thank goodness. Perhaps you’d be better off posting on some sort of Devs Forum. This isn’t the place for you, son. If you’re dying to pay more money for less content, you go for it! Enjoy!

Let me put it in plain language your little mind might be able to grasp: say you pay for a massage and the massage therapist is excellent. But the massage only lasts 5 minutes and you’re charged $60. You’re clearly the type of person who says, “wow, what a massage! Thank you so much! Can I please pay for another $100 for 10 minutes?”. I really wish I was someone selling you something….I’d have a field day ripping you off. So very sad.

Your “arguments” are making make less and less sense, so I won’t feed the troll anymore. Adios, poor soul.

  • TheHerbinator75

Shadow Complex Remastered for me this week.

    • Be warned….”The Park” is just 1.5 hours long, if it’s the same as the PC version. $12.99 for a game barely longer than an hour?

      No thanks.

    • @Rude:

Be Warned… “Rudetoy” doesn’t know how to read. On The Park’s Steam page it states the game length is 1-2 hours. Not quite ‘barely.’ Speed run? Sure, but this is an exploratory game.

Stop equating “value” according your uber high “$ = length of experience” standards (otherwise, the Witcher 3 should retail for over $100) because you do this alot on the blog.

    • Well people slaughtered The Order 1886 for being short, even though it was nearly 10 hours, and one of the best looking games I’ve ever played. It’d be unfair if people didn’t mention that about other games. Personally I don’t care about length, I care about the experience and the quality. I’m just bitter about what people did to the Order 1886.

    • @luv…..first of all, I got my info from game length sites, not Steam. Furthermore, don’t assume every here references Steam for that kind of info. People have a right to know if a game that expensive (relatively speaking) is just 1.5 hours. Many probably don’t know. You’re acting like this is common knowledge fir everyone here. This is info I think most would be interested in. Not sure what your problem is.

As for “The Order” being short, that was a more publicized title and everyone knew about the short game length. Just giving a head’s up….there is nothing wrong with that. I certainly wouldn’t begrudge someone for posting useful information like that.

    • Oh and “stop equating” value with length? Ha! If you want to shell out $12.99 for a game barely longer than an hour, you go right ahead. And yes, a game like Witcher 3 offers a heck of a lot for its price point.

    • @bestrader- I actually agree with you that length isn’t everything….lol. But the price has to figure into it also. $12.99 for a game less than 2 hours long is very poor value, no matter if it’s got the most amazing gameplay in existence. I think most intelligent gamers would agree and would wait for a sale and a more reasonable price point.

Apparently, some are offended. Those people apparently have money coming out of their ears, like LuvToSpend. Go at it, daddy war bucks.

    • ThumbsOfSteel74

      *sigh*

I could swear I hit the proper “reply” button before, but apparently not. Poorly played on my part then. Heh.

    • @Rude, I’m glad you acquire you info from “game length” sites… But that doesn’t mean the Devs are lying. If they were, & you proved this- then you did a service to us all. I don’t like to “spend,” haha good comeback.

Now here’s the DIFFERENCE between you & I that you don’t quite understand And therefore you avoid the context; making games is very hard & you automatically comment negatively in the vein of “nope it’s short, not a good game, don’t buy fellow gamers!” I don’t do that. Recall your comment history; it’s toxic to devs (particularly indies) releasing games. Why don’t you just list the game length instead of being overly negative? Idk what “common knowledge” is around here, but people are pretty keen (mentioning mistaken prices, missing content) … do you have barometer? Sure, inform, many intelligent users here do.

But game length simply does not correlate to game price (regardless of quality & fun?!), because then in your world we should go on believing that your favorite genre is FTP? Haha! That can’t be, can it…?

    • @Thumbs- thanks for the support. It seems Luv conveniently ignored your comment. You’re spot on in your comments and your points and criticism are well made.

As for Luvtoseek, did you see anywhere in my post where I criticized the game’s quality? No, I didn’t think so. Me personally, I’d never pay more than a couple of bucks for a game less than 2 hours long. That game length I posted is NOT a speed run time, btw. It’s the length of the game for most players.

I am certain many gamers are/were unaware of the short length of this new release. As ThumbsOfSteel said, we need MORE info like this for new releases, not less. If you don’t take value from my info, move on. Poor form to take shots for providing info some may be unaware of. If I was giving misinformation, that would be one thing. But I’m not.

    • To wrap up, there may be gamers (like yourself) who don’t mind paying $12.99 for an hour or two of gaming. Fine for you. I know there are plenty who feel the way I do. Why do you think people blast PS NOW for charging similar prices for a couple of hours gameplay on a title?

Most gamers consider game length to be an important criteria in deciding whether or not to buy. You don’t? That’s fine. But don’t knock those who do.

      Finito.

    • Correction- PS NOW charges I believe up to $4.99 for 4 hours for a title and STILL people bash them! And that’s arguably more value than something like what “The Park” is charging! So, I wonder what those people would say to $12.99 for 1.5 hours of gameplay?

Doesn’t take much of an imagination to guess, does it?

    • @Rude: if I had to acknowledge when someone else defends you because you couldn’t, then maybe I should stop addressing you altogether haha. Anyways, here’s some “poor form” for ya:

“Axiom Verge” is by all accounts a good game, but $19.99 for a game that’s barely 200 MB??? WOW.”

Like your comment yesterday; there’s good statistical info there coupled by negative personal opinion. Who’s not going to take “shots” at that? I didn’t even have to look hard, 2nd page result on Google. If a game doesn’t fit your Budget, Length, Size… You blast it negatively on its Release Day.

How do the devs feel? See that’s the difference between you & I; I think about that.

Aside, Axiom Verge (made by 1x guy) is highly rated by critics & gamers. And so far, The Park has 67 on Metacritic.

Comparing a trial service to owning a game/content? Haha, what’s going on here?

    • @luvtoseek- your name certainly fits…you love to seek out any info on me. A bit obsessed with me, much? Going through my history to gather past quotes? I would politely request that you get a life.

I stand by all my past comments. You’re really that concerned about hurting these poor devs’ feelings? Really? I think they’re quite a bit more resistant to criticism than you think. I doubt they care very much. If you do your usual intense, obsessive investigating of me, you’ll see that I also defended the dev of Axiom Verge vs. someone who whined that the Vita port took too long, in the comments of the dev’s post apologizing for the delay due to his son’s illness. Conveniently, you left my comment out, didn’t you? Whatever suits YOU, I guess.

Bottom line- value is important to most gamers. You seem immune to this. Enjoy.

    • Oh, and by the way, you keep confusing the issue. I never have put down the *quality* of these games, yet you continue to rail on and on about quality.

Methinks you need some direction, friend.

    • By the way, you investigative journalist, try googling “The Park ps4 too short”. You’ll get quite a few matches. That seems to be the major knock on the game from critics.

Oh, but I guess since *I* said it, my comments aren’t valid, eh?

Thinking you’re either one of the devs or a relative of one of the devs….or a classic troll.

    • @Rude, obsessive? Haha, on my 1st post here I stated you’ve made negative comments ‘before’ & I was referring to the Axiom Verge thread where I Replied to you. I just didn’t know the quote word for word; that was the connection. And well, idk, maybe you ‘defended’ Tom because you didn’t know how small the game was then- it doesn’t cover up how non-sensical your comment is. A highly-praised “game under 1gig & $20? WOW” Anyone reading your 1st post here can scan the web & they’ll find similar negative comments by you. It’s a pattern.

If you feel the devs don’t care (yet they’ve casually chatted with gamers here on the blog) when you post negative comments, then you don’t know business & marketing 101. Devs care, particularly Indie devs. Are you going to Speak for Tom Happ & claim your 200mb statement didn’t affect sales? And whether you defended him before/after the fact, you made that comment on its release day.

      Who’s the Troll again?

    • @luv, Sony doesn’t let you edit your comments. As a finale to you, sorry if I come across as “rude”….it’s in my name, of course.

Look, I know you care about the indie devs. No one disputes that and no one is “against” indie devs. But understand, that doesn’t mean the indie devs should be immune from criticism. I have absolutely no issue with a good game being 1.5 hours long. What I DO have an issue with (and other gamers do as well, if you read reviews of the game) is a game 1.5 hours long costing $12.99. The more appropriate price point should be along the lines of $3.99, certainly no more than $4.99. Personally, it smacks of arrogance to charge $12.99 for a game so incredibly short, regardless of whether an Indie Dev is making it or the biggest conglomeration on the planet.

if you want to spend that kind of money, go right ahead. I think there’s more people who think like me, but you’re entitled to do whatever you want.

    • @rude: I don’t need massage analogies, I’m just saying to be more considerate to devs. To say you don’t hold anything “against” developers is a plain lie. You still haven’t accounted for what you said about Tom’s “200MB” work, & on his Release Day no less.

But maybe I’m over-reacting, maybe when you comment about content on the blog you aren’t incendiary at all. So I encourage you to keep on, rude. I’ll snap a screenshot of your post & Tweet the devs. They’ll read it, & so will their followers, gamers, friends, family… & you’ll be famous- everybody wins.

Anyways, good that we can say ‘adios’ amicably.

    • @luv- I have nothing against indie devs, per se. If you’re a regular here, you should know that plenty of other folks here have ripped indies far harsher than I have, just for being indies. I may have commented once or twice but nothing on their level.

As for the size of Axiom Verge, it was a shocker to see a 200+ MB game being $19.99. I guess kudos to him, because the game is apparently quite lengthy anyway. As you yourself quoted me, I acknowledged the game is considered good. In fact, when it comes down in price during a sale, I’ll probably pounce on it.

      Take care….

  • These ps plus titles are getting worse and worse

  • …did they mean to lower Dissidia’s price to $15?
Because they just upped the price of Duodecim’s demo from $3 to $15 no reason whatsoever.

    • I was going to say this is the playstation blog, they can barely tell which way is up, it’s got to be a mistake. But yep, $14.99 in the store for a 6 year old demo of a $14.99 game. Whatever software they use to manage the store has got to be just awful, because this kind of thing happens all the time.

  • Whoa BF4 and Hardline’s first DLC are actually free?! Hardline really needed that desperately as there’s literally only one active DLC server in the word.

    • Interesting strategy by EA – give away some DLC for free in hopes that people will buy the game. (Plus, it builds hype for the upcoming reveal of the next Battlefield). I hope we see this more often. Most publishers put the base game and ultimate edition on sale, but rarely/never the DLC.

It’s also nice that PlayStation (and EA Origin) are allowing anyone to get the DLC, whereas Xbox requires Gold.

  • Nice, been wanting to try out Tropico 5 for a while now, thanks!

  • Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
The Sound Four Extra Playable Characters Pack (Only Available to Season Pass Holders)

Shows up as $6.99 Not FREE for Season Pass Holders.

Season Pass said it included 3 DLC Packs – What Gives?

    • Without a Season Pass it says “Not available for purchase” – Worst Season Pass ever to want more money.

Either Bandai Namco Games America Inc.or the Sony PSN team are messing this up each release.

    • UntamedInferno

I wondered how they would mess up this dlc release. So disappointing Sony…

    • Deathreaper714

Sony might have mess up but they just made The Sound Four dlc free a few hours ago.

An no i don’t own the season pass.

  • Yay can’t wait to pre-order TMNT. I’m SO EXCITED!!

  • The 2 EP7 Tables from the Pinball FX Star Wars Season 1 Bundle are missing.

    • Are they supposed to be there? I bought Season 1 a while ago (last May the 4th?), but the “Force Awakens” pack (2 tables) were released much more recently. I figure they would be part of Season 2, if there is such a thing.

    • JoshyBoy98311

I was thinking the same thing since I bought the Season 1 pass today specifically for my PS4. When I didn’t see the tables on PS4, I went looking on my PS3, and they showed up on the PS3 version… the Episode 7 tables in the pack only work for PS3?

  • WoolyManwich

My daughter wants to download Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. Can she just download the digital game and play or do i have to buy a physical starter pack with the USB base and and the action figures for it to work?

    • Does she already have the Disney Infinity USB base and enough Disney Infinity figures to be satisfied? If so, then you can just download the digital version. If not, then she has to buy the physical starter pack and enough figures to be satisfied.

    • WoolyManwich

      Thanks

  • dkarlowicz10

Why is Deadpool (PS4) still $49.99 for normal price (before sale)? Seems rather high. $27.49 on sale? That should be the regular price prior to the sale.

    • Tatanka2007

Agreed! Deadpool was an okay game when it was originally released. It was fun, but ultimately very short. Should have been a budget title from the get-go. The PS4 port is mediocre at best, nothing different except the optimization which is worse than the original. Gotta hand it to Activision. They are the Ebenezer Scrooge of sales. They far surpass EA as title holder for worst gaming publisher. If not for Call of Dooty, Activision would have been bought and sold long ago.

    • Ah, Activision. They also normally charge $50 digital for the PS3 version of Deadpool – a 2013 last gen game that Amazon currently sells for $20 physical.

EA may have been voted “worst company in America” two years in a row, but at least their digital sales are crazy good. I’ve gotten Mirror’s Edge for $2.25 and The Mass Effect Trilogy for $4.80 in past PSN sales.

  • ShadowStar83x

Might grab some Star Wars stuff.

  • UntamedInferno

Naruto Storm 4 Sound four dlc comes free for season pass owners!…+$6.99!?!?

    • TobiramaUchiha

I love my PS4 but why is the USA store so terrible when it comes to updating things correctly? And the UK one updates at midnight we have to to wait until 6pm for it to fully uodate sometimes till wednesdays for them to fix mistakes

  • Burmecian_Rat

I love how all these years later they can mess around with Dissidia’s pricing but they still can’t be bothered to upload some of the missing DLC like Tifa and Cloud’s alt outfits which are available in Europe.

  • No Neptunia VII avatars and no CoD:IW preorder makes me a sad panda.

    • NeoStrayCat

Yeah, sorry there’s no Nep-VII ava’s, and also, CoD:IW is already up for digital pre-order on the PS Store, though just not listed on this weeks update.

  • Considering the classic Star Wars pack, though I won’t play it too much I don’t think. I’ll think it over once I finish up Uncharted 4 and Okami HD.

Nothing else this week for me.

  • MrBurningPsycho

Why can’t I download the Lego Star Wars theme can someone help me?

    • Mutsu_Enmei_Ryuu

I’m having the exact same problem. Please let me know if you were able to get it after all. Thanks.

  • ReptileHand

Uncharted 4 next week for me.

Picked up some new avatars and 2 anime movies last night though. Technically that’s what I bought this week ;)

Downloaded the free BF DLC though, just in case. If there was any year to knock Call of Duty off the map, this is the year to do it. #battlefield

  • videogamekingX

The Sound Four DLC is charging people $6.99 even though it’s the early season pass release, so it’s supposed to be free. Please fix this. I’ve been waiting too long for this DLC.

  • Man, just waiting for a rebel galaxy sale. Thought we would have one by now

  • On the PSN Store it says:

“God of War: Ghost of Sparta
    1.1GB, Playable on:
    PS Vita, PS3”

but I’m guessing it’s not playable on the PS3, at least not the free PSN Plus version.

  • Table Top Racing is great fun; reminds me of Micro Machines. Don’t know if I’d splash $20 on it but as a free download you can’t go wrong. Just plain old good fun.

  • dpearson588

I didn’t know the Prototype games were available on PS4, I might have to pick those up.

  • I can’t even see the storm 4 sound 4 dlc. And I bought the season pass. So I can’t even be outraged that it wants 6.99 from me!!! We wait all day till the afternoon/early evening and then it deosnt even go on the store right??? What did you do all day sony?? Water cooler small talk? C’mon guys.

  • Seriously, when are we going to be able to pre-order JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven?!

  • Hmmm…. I did not see that new TMNT game coming. It just might, I said might, be the new TMNT we really need. When did a good TMNT game came out? It’s been too long since we had a good one.

  • I already own Tropico and I like it… it’s fun for a few days before you get bored. But Tabletop racing is just not fun or any good. Beach Buggy Racing is way more fun to play and does what a kart racer is supposed to do… be fun.

  • XxT_I_K_IxX_PR

    One Piece avatars please!

  • WaterDragon77

I wonder… does the port of KoF 2000 have trophies, because I know the other PS2 games that have been converted to the PS4 have had trophy support.

It would be nice to have that included… it’s not needed, but it is a nice feature.

  • The sound 4 dlc didnt even give me a price in the store, i have the season pass, but instead of giving me a price it says unavailable, and when i click “learn more” it says i cannot purchase this dlc because i have the season pass. so what i did was i went on another account on my ps4 and downloaded the dlc free from the store then switched back to my account while still logged into my other one and was able to access them. but then if i log out of my other account, my game now says “save file contains downloadable content you do not have, you must re-install the content or create a new save file”.

  • May just be my personal opinion but branded themes should be free. You are literally paying for advertising after all.

  • VinsanityV21

    Should I get KOF 2000? I shouldn’t buy anything this week… but I do want KOF2000.

I feel like, “I want it” should not be the only thing in my “Pro” column when weighing these decisions :P

    • NeoStrayCat

That depends, its $10, but as it is, is based on its PS2 counterpart, which means no online multi. (Though there’s shareplay, lol.), but yes, its the same KOF 2000 everyone know and loves, lol.

Along with unlockable strikers exclusive to the PS2 release (by playing “Party Mode” a couple of times), plus unlockable past KOF intros (from 94-99), oh, and trophies, some people like trophies, lol. X3

  • I have the season pass for ninja storm 4, but the sound 4 dlc is not showing up. This is getting annoying.

    • marvelheroes1345

hey ash did they resolve ur problem cause im have the same issue if they did can u help me

    • I’m still waiting and they still didn’t resolve the problem

  • i don’t see any of the Star Wars “discounts” under deals, and i also cannot “purchase” the free LEGO Star Wars theme.

  • Why can’t I see any of these deals on my ps3? The only deals shown are for Dead or Alive 5, Q-bert, and Young Justice! Please check and fix this please.

  • OMG!!! Thank you for finally putting the PS One classic, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, on the Playstation Store! The game has long been one of my favorites and it looks and plays great on my PS Vita. Oh, wait a minute…. I’m actually playing Tenchu on my hacked PSP. My mistake!

  • ponticelli12

corridor z for ps vita not loading at all and azkend 2 always loads with an error….can someone suggest a solution for this. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

  • troysdeath101

I can’t Get Azkend 2: The World Beneath to install on my vita so there’s that.

  • Mutsu_Enmei_Ryuu

Can’t seem to be able to download the PS3 Star Wars theme, through the console or browser, only the PS4 theme. Please look into this matter, would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Unable to download the free SW Lego theme :(
