  • Hey

How come a PS3 game can be on PS Now but not be on PS Store? For example, the PS3 version of God of War 3 and BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger are on PS Now but not available digitally on the PS3 PS Store? Can you please put those games on there so I can buy them. Thanks.

    • livingwithoutyou

The PS Now service just streams the games. This is a much simpler process than going to the developers and asking about putting their game on the PS4. Some would rather remaster the game and others would ask for too much money from Sony for what the game is.

    • @livingwithoutyou I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean remasters for ps4, just that they put the game for ps3 on PS store.

    • AllenWake_n_Bake

I know it’s gay. Another example I will put out there Disgaea 3 has been out since 2007 or somewhere near there and now on the 17 of this month it is now purchasable in the PlayStation store.

    • @livingwithoutyou I said nothing about PS4. I am asking about the PS3 PS Store.

  • Also, Microsoft is doing a Xbox 360 sale with several of these same games as you are doing a PS3 sale. Do Sony and Microsoft coordinate sales? I regularly see the same sale at the same time among you both.

P.s. please support plug and play for external HDD on the PS3. I am running out of my 1.5TB of internal HDD. Finally, please remove the 10% HD reserve for future OS update on the PS3. My PS3 is holding over 150GB of my 1300GB usable storage.

    Thanks.

    • I suspect that it’s not that Sony and Microsoft coordinate sales, as much as it is that the publisher has a sale across all platforms at the same time. For example, The Witcher 3 was on sale on PSN, gog, Origin, Steam, and I believe Microsoft last week – same sale across all platforms, as best I could tell (even including older versions in the series, when available).

    • Orpheus_Aeons

@FeistFan: That’s 100% correct. It works exactly like that. ;)

    • @FeistFan so 2K, Capcom, EA, and others all spontaneously agreed to have a sale on PS3 and X360 games on May 25th at the SAME time with ZERO coordination?

    • MakaiOokami

      Gohan16

The problem is this doesn’t seem to be a sale. I could be wrong but what it looks like to me, is an across the board permanent price drop to market PS3, and to drive up consumer happiness and excitement for E3 next month.

I’m guessing that Microsoft heard these games were going down in price, and then put them on sale. If Microsoft’s discounts are just for a week, and the Playstation one is permanent, that’s not coordination. That’s copying.

All that has to be done to prove my hypothesis wrong is for these prices to go up after a week or 2.

  • KazeEternal

Would have been great if this was playable on PS4. Something to consider on PS5.

  • Love the discount on L.A Noire and Red Dead Redemption :/

  • YorlecmNwahs

Only one game I wanted to see on this list.
    The forever forgotten ModNation Racers

  • Orpheus_Aeons

As always with Sony… the idea is AWESOME! But the execution is just AWFUL.

Except for a couple of games…you’re NOT actually selling them for “a low price”…you’re only matching retail prices and that’s it.

Just a few examples: $29.99 for Diablo 3 is a rip-off. Charging $29.99 for RDR is even worst, since the online is dead and it’s the original game only without Undead Nightmare!

I know pricing is not completely your fault per se (although $9.99 for Uncharted 1 is ridiculous) but if you’re doing something like this…you shouldn’t allow for Activi$ion to sell CoD: BO for $30, that’s preposterous! You should’ve called someone at Activi$ion and tell them “hey, guys! If you wanna be on board with this new “last-sells-before-we-shutdown-the-PS3-Store-for-good” deal…then you need to COMPROMISE! You can’t sell a 6-yo game for half the price of a brand new title! What do you think about a $15 price tag instead?”.

That’s how you do “good” business and keep your customers happy. ;)

As it is…this is just more of the same from you. Totally useless. =(

    Here’s an idea PlayStation…

    God of War
    God of War II
    God of War Ascension
God of War Chains of Olympus
God of War Ghost of Sparta
    …all remastered/remade for the PS4?
Have it so that the other God of War games are running on the God of War III/Ascension graphical engine?

    • bahaha

      yeah @Sony
Just drag and drop all the GoW games to the new engine what’s wrong with you?

    • I would so buy a collection of these titles if remastered and every game included in this collection

  • I would have to say that I’m glad that Sony is dropping the price of their games. I especially liked it when Nintendo did the same thing as well (even though it only applies to their first-party games). However, my only problem with it is that the Jak and Daxter Collection is not included in the Naughty Dog section. Not to mention that the Sly Collection is not included in the Best of PS3 price drop.

  • Will the Ratchet & Clank: Collection for PS Vita be receiving a price drop as well? It doesn’t seem quite fair that it is priced $10 higher than the PS3 version.

  • Uttermostdeer5

This would be a perfect opportunity to introduce backwards compatibility if the PS4 had any…Which is strange, seems like it would be an obvious function choice for a console company of such history. Why obsess with VR? You’ve made your console an obsessive rush into the future rather than a ladder we are free to climb up or down. Not like rehashing the final fantasy series wouldn’t be profitable on the ps4.

    • Although I agree that Sony should add backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games (on the original discs) to the PS4 via software emulation, backwards compatibility with PS3 games won’t be coming to the PS4 anytime soon. Mainly because the Cell processor (that the PS3 uses) is way too powerful to emulate through software.

    • That is an old excuse, i have been reading on many sites that it’s possible on Ps4, let alone Neo.

  • Sony,

How about paying homage to the PS3 by not acting like there’s nothing else to see there?

Seriously, the PS Plus free games post only showed images and descriptions for the two PS4 games. Are we supposed to think the PS3 and Vita have been around for so long everyone knows what games you’re referring to? It’s not like Sony’s being charged by the word in their own blog… And the Playstation Store Update post perpetuates this by showing a graphic of only the PS4 Plus titles.

New PS3 games are still coming out, like Mighty Number 9 and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. A new TMNT game was released yesterday for crying out loud! And I’m waiting with bated breath the release of Zero Time Dilemma on the Vita next month.

  • I’d like to see Sony actually treating the PS3 with respect instead of doing things by inertia.

Refusing to name the PS3 is not going to make me go away, my PS3 is not going to go away, I won’t stop buying PS3 games, and lastly, I still won’t buy a PS4 since I have a massive backlog and no exclusive game on PS4 has enticed me enough to actually get one. Really, I’ve played every Metal Gear -even the GameCube one and every HD remaster- and every Uncharted, that I’m so sated of those franchises I can comfortably wait.

In closing, this has to be the most tepid and unexciting post I’ve ever read. Let’s see what big event Sony will prepare in November to mark this momentous occasion. Maybe they’ll surprise and delight us PS3 owners by putting out a press release announcing the closure of the PS3 PSN Store and the loss of all our investment…

  • And don’t get me started on the ridiculous prices. I’ve said before that Sony holds every advantage with digital games: duplication is free, transport, logistics and storage costs are are traded by much cheaper digital storage and network traffic costs, they cannot be lent, Sony cuts every middleman including secondhand stores, they can be wiped or cancelled instantly at any time… And they also cost much more than going to a physical store and buying it there. In all fairness, they should be cheaper.

  • StabieMcStabStab

All these Spider-man games got me wondering… Sucker Punch Sony what are you hinting?

  • No BC on PS4 means no buy. It doesn’t matter even if Sony sells all these games for $5. Still its a no-buy for me.
Its due to the same reason that I still occasionally buy last gen games on XBox One due to backwards compatibility.

  • AizawaYuuichi

    Yay, opinions!

But seriously, a lot of the titles on these lists have been on sale for much cheaper, and even with DLC included. Announcing a series of possibly permanent price drops on old games isn’t really news. Since you didn’t say “price changes”, these could always rise back up when you announce whatever the next set of drops is going to be.
While it might be nice for those who haven’t upgraded yet, these drops aren’t all too impressive.
    But, thanks for trying.

  • Hey, you know what would be even better than this?

Still manufacturing brand new PS3s with a reduced price of $100.

I would by another on for my household right the fark now if I could find one! That would be my 5th PS3 purchase (3 of the other 4 work just fine. I just want another one.)

The PS2 hit this price point at the 10 year mark, and went on to still be manufactured for 2 more years! Why did you abandon the PS3 so early? It’s shameful!

    • The gap never gets too big…developers start learning how to extract more & more juice. See what 1st party developers did with Ps3 when Ps4 was launching…Tlou, Gt6…many 3rd party examples too. Infact i believe Ps4 neo isn’t needed, Let the developers extract more from Ps4 otherwise they’ll become lazy.

  • Orpheus_Aeons

    Wow…so you’re just a full-time ignorant jerk, huh? >_>

  • Unless it is a game published by Sony themselves, Sony does not decide the price. Those prices are decided by the publisher themselves on the digital front.

Sony, Microsoft, Valve, GoG, Nintendo and so on do try to make deals to get sales on some big titles, but the sales and often original price match across the board. Sometimes the same games are on sale at the same time for often the same price even.

  • EliteKilla29

Can y’all bring call of duty black ops 1 to the ps now? If y’all do that I would sign up for it for sure.

  • NuklearRaver

Who is leaving the PS3 ? It’s one of my favorite consoles out of the several that I own, and I still buy games for it.

People tend to upgrade things like cars, PC, and phone, but hey tend to collect consoles because there is something the old console had that a newer model does not. It’s usually a game that only works on that console that causes a person to keep it instead of replacing it.

  • BlueBl1zzard

hmmm pretty cool idea, but would have liked to see bigger price drops. But thanks nonetheless.

Also, just saying but Vita turns 5 next February….. *wink* *wink* ;)

  • Orpheus_Aeons

And just when I thought you couldn’t possibly be more ignorant…you had to say that.

Well done…you’ve flawlessly proved me wrong.

  • BusGamer217

GIVE ME .HACK// G.U. PORTS OR GIVE ME DEATH!!! I WILL PAY UP TO $20 FOR EACH OF THEM IDGAF I NEED THEM.

  • Nowcomes-Friend

Only If Sony made one last edition of the playstation 3…… I’m thinking it would be called Playstation 3 Memories Edition with a Retro Color scheme

  • CaLiKuShKiLlA420
