The Silver Case, a Suda51 Classic, is Coming to PS4 in Early 2017

Greetings everyone! Chris King from NIS America here to give you a dose or two of exciting news!

We are very happy to partner with Grasshopper Manufacture Inc. and Active Gaming Media Inc. to bring Suda51’s The Silver Case to PS4 in early 2017! The game will be available in North America and Europe as both a physical and digital release.

The Silver Case is an HD remaster of the original PSone game by legendary developer Suda51 — creator behind masterpieces such as Flower Sun and Rain, Killer 7, Lollipop Chainsaw, and the upcoming Let It Die. And while you may be familiar with Suda51 and his more recent works of art, The Silver Case may not have been caught on your radar as it was only released in Japan for the original PlayStation (the good ol’ days). Fortunately for us, 15+ years later we all get to experience the English remastered version on PS4!

In The Silver Case, you play as a member of the Special Forces Unit known as “Republic” with a mission to investigate the string of mysterious murders that plague the city. The detectives of the city have their eyes set on a man named Kamui Uehara, a legendary serial killer who went on a rampage of killings 20 years prior. Nobody knows who (or what) Kamui really is and what he is capable of.

A mix between a visual novel and an adventure game, The Silver Case is visually satisfying, artistic, and wonderfully engaging. Simply put, if you enjoy Suda51 and the fascinating creations he’s bestowed upon us over these many years, you will surely enjoy what The Silver Case has to offer.

That’s all for now! For more information on the game, story, or characters, check out the official website. We hope you look forward to the PS4 remaster of The Silver Case coming West in early 2017, and as always, thank you for reading, dood!

  • Why no Vita version? It’s a visual novel that runs on Unity with low end visuals. C’mon.

    • Oh, I missed that NISA was paying for this. That explains everything.

    • It’s such a shame that NIS hates physical Vita games. If they cared about us Vita owners, then we would have gotten physical copies of Grand Kingdom, Psycho Pass Mandatory Happiness, DanganRonpa 1+2+Another Episode, Criminal Girls 1+2, or Stranger of Sword City. Wait…

    • There’s a digital Vita version of The Silver Case? Where did you find that out?

    • Ummm…NIS(A) has supported the VITA a lot during it’s meager lifespan. Sure, everyone seems to be jumping ship, but it’s not like it’s oh, right, NISA never brings any games to VITA. They bring games to all PS platforms, of different variety.

That being said, I don’t see why they aren’t bringing this to VITA. I agree with you on that, cause it would be perfect for it. Visual Novels work so well, and the game would likely look better, since it’s a PS1 game originally. I personally never played, nor heard about it, but all the same, I mean…It’s PS1.

But yeah, they as a publisher have supported the VITA far more than most companies. If it weren’t for them, the JRPG space would be severely hurt. Not that they’re the only players in development, but they offer some of the best, amongst some of the most ridiculous. And sometimes, despite the VITA’s less than stellar sales, games they release are exclusive.

So again…How does that explain everything?

    • NISA have been good to Vita, but it looks like those days are over. They don’t do Vita exclusives anymore. No news on if NIS Japan Vita games like Hero Must Die, ClaDun Sengoku, Coven and the Labyrinth of Refrain, and Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight are coming over. They did confirm The Longest Five Minutes, but they’ve already announced a PC port. In fact, they’re going back to older releases and porting those to PC (Criminal Girls) or PS4 (Dangan Ronpa – though, that was never really Vita exclusive). Criminal Girls 2 and Yomawari are obviously going to wind up on PC within the next six months.

So it comes to reason that if The Silver Case’s console ports are being paid for by NISA, they wouldn’t fund a Vita version. I think the same thing happened with Birthdays: The Beginning, another NISA-funded project that doesn’t look technically demanding.

    • For anyone who may want to dish out more for physical Vita games that have limited runs: https://limited-run-games.myshopify.com

Anyways, I’ve never heard of this game, but it sounds promising.

    • My comment is awaiting moderation. For anyone who wouldn’t mind dishing out extra for limited run Vita physical games, Google search “Vita limited run games”. They also sometimes have PS4 games.

    • Who care anymore about Nis, Sony and the NO SUPPORT for the Ps Vita Owners….

      There’s NINTENDO SWITCH NOW !!!!

I “Switch” already to Nintendo because “Nintendo is not Sony, they support all they fans” (Cit)

And March 2017 is just around the corner !!!!!!

    • Wait… Nintendo Switch is day 1 buy for you? YOu don’t even know the price, graphics, battery life, games, online infrastructure.
Tell you one thing for sure, is going to be more expensive than the PS4, is going to be weaker than the PS4. That’s it.

    • Nuts to the Vita. Bring it to the Switch!

  • Lollipop Chainsaw is a masterpiece??? Sorry to troll :)

    • I was actually more irritated by the fact that they left out No More Heroes (and its PS3 HD remaster) out of Suda’s credits…

  • SUUUUUUDDDDDAAAAA. I’ve been looking forward to this! I am so excited!! Glad this is coming to consoles.

  • Considering all of the other nerdish news that came out this week, this is BY FAR the one I’m most excited about.

    A++

  • Thank you, NIS! Glad I didn’t buy the Limited Run Games PC version, as now I’ll be able to play on PS4. I don’t dislike LRG, only that their strategy only benefits scalpers and the prices of their games become artificially inflated. I like that publishers like NIS just casually mention that there will be a physical version, so that people who actually want it will be able to get them.

  • thank you so much. Im a big fan of suda51 and always wanted to try this game. Any plans on a limited edition.

  • Two things:

-If this one was originally a PS1 game, couldn’t the remaster have been released for PS Vita as well?

-When are you going to address what happened to the physical PS Vita version of Touhou Genso Rondo you had originally announced?

  • Happy to see it coming to Console. Was worried it was left out when I saw LimitedRunGames had a PC Limited Copy.

Shame…no PSVIta…VN novels have done well there. Looking at the graphics…should not be any problem at all.

  • bring back some killer7 also!

  • I just got through purchasing the Limited Run Games physical pc version of this.I’ll gladly double dip to play this on the PS4

  • Is this coming with a Japanese language option like the Steam version? Not that the Japanese on this one is easy at all given all the fake official government organization names and such, but it’s still a nice thing to have.

  • Awesome! Any suda is good but please bring us killer 7!! This looks cool though, kinda looks like a (dark)love letter to Policenauts. PS…. Vita.

  • Looks incredible! Day 1, sheeples.
