The King of Fighters ’94 Hits PS4 October 27, More Classics Inbound

Over the past three years, Hamster has released a wide variety of classic coin-op hits for PS4 in its Arcade Archives lineup, and we’re excited to reveal our new ACA Neo Geo series that brings SNK’s beloved games back into your living room.

Since its debut in 1990, the Neo Geo enthused video game fans from around the globe with games that were “bigger, badder, and better” than anything else in the arcade or at home… and you’ll finally have perfect conversions of some of these legendary titles.

The first game in the ACA Neo Geo series is The King of Fighters ’94, which launches October 27 on PS4!

The King of Fighters ’94 originally launched on Neo Geo way back in 1994, injecting new life into the fighting game genre by mixing popular characters from SNK’s Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Ikari Warriors franchises into one massive invitational hand-to-hand tournament. The King of Fighters ’94’s unique three-on-three battles and intricate special move systems had a massive impact on subsequent fighting games, and it gave birth to an ongoing saga that continues to this day with 2016’s amazing PS4 offering, The King of Fighters XIV.

The following games will launch in 2016:*

  • Metal Slug
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Alpha Mission II
  • Fatal Fury
  • World Heroes

And the following games will arrive in early 2017:*

  • Neo Turf Masters
  • Nam-1975

Hamster will continue to work closely with SNK Playmore to not only choose games in the most famous franchises, but also to shed light on some cult classics and hidden gems. Stay tuned for more on the ACA Neo Geo line-up!

It would’ve been nice if the Arcade Archives series hit Vita too. I used to buy some of the PSMobile Appli Archive releases.

    • Same here! I will love a Vita version of these games, I have KoF 99 (PSOne) in my vita and its always great to play it on the run.

  • What about online? Will The King of Fighters ’94 offer that?

  • If I had some games to recommend…

Fatal Fury Special, 3, Real Bout, RB Special, RB 2, GAROU : Mark of the Wolves
    Samurai Shodown 2, 5 Special
    The King of Fighters ’95, ’96, ’98, ’99, ’02, ’03
Metal Slug (from 2 to 5, including X)
    Art of Fighting 2
    Breakers Revenge
    Puzzle Bobble 2
The Last Blade (I know there’s already TLB 2)
    Shock Troopers, 2nd Squad
SvC Chaos : SNK vs Capcom

And it would be even better if you included the arranged soundtracks from the Neo Geo CD versions (and add one for samurai Shodown 5 Special because it wasn’t on NGCD)

Garou is already getting a PS4 and Vita port from Code Mystics. Those releases are frankly preferable to the ACA ones, since there’s more work put into the online side and it’s cross-buy.

    • There’s already the Metal Slug anthology collection if you don’t know.

    • be-nice-201

      And dont forget robo army

  • The big question is : Why no hit the Vita? All SNK games on the go will be fantastic. Same for all the port of Hamster, Renegade and DD will be awesome.

    • pablikenemy79

Like AngryJoe said “NINTENDO IS NOT SONY!” so save your money and wait for NINTENDO SWITCH and then you have a real support from Nintendo and third partys…

Stop comming here and complaint, just wait a litle more to play FINALLY CONSOLE GAMES ON THE GO…. THANKS TO NINTENDO SWITCH !!!!!!❤

    • Totally agree Switch is the way to o. I’d rather support Sony but………

    • Oops go…

  • bigmansavagedan

Hopefully these will all be uncensored. If they are censored I think you will lose a lot of would be buyers right from the get go. Great line up though:) also what happened to Mark of the wolves release? It was announced months ago for ps4/vita :(

  • saiyanknight87

I’m looking forward to that samurai showdown.. that was my joint! Probably fatal fury 2 as well.

  • saiyanknight87

If we could get Capcom Vs SNK 2 it would be love!

  • On the gween!

  • Neo Turf Masters is easily the best golf video game. Hope you guys port Kizuna Encounter, Super Sidekicks 3, Windjammers and King of Fighters 2003 eventually.

  • SegaSaturn617

I understand it probably rarely cost you guys that much money to release these but no one cares. Release games that people actually care. 95 is a huge improvement over 94. You did this with PS2 (PSP too) collections, re released these on the PS3, did it for Steam as well with some games, and now on the PS4. Even worse you’re selling them separately lol. Put these as a collection and call it a day. Release games that people care for. Waste of time and money. Just give us SS2 to 4, Art of Fighting 2 and 3, KOF98 Ultimate with the 3D backgrounds please, 2003, Fatal Fury Rebout Series, and so on. Give us Chaos with it being more balanced.

  • Not a big SNK fan, but it’s since to see more arcade games coming to the PS4 now that the PS3 is on it’s way to retirement. Hopefully, Capcom and Warner Bros. (the owner of Midway’s entire library) will hop on the Arcade Archives bandwagon, cause I really want to see the Street Fighter II games (Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Champion Edition, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo) and the Mortal Kombat games (MK1, MK2, MK3, UMK3, and MK4) come to the PS4.

  • EverythingOnFire

I grew up in a very small town, and the one arcade machine we had at the general store was a Neo Geo MVS SNK that had 4 or 5 titles installed, with World Heroes being the best one. Very cool to see it’s coming to PS4.

  • Nicely done!!…looking forward to KoF 94,Metal Slug and Alpha Mission 2.Bring all the KoFs please.

And you guys should work something out with SNK to bring all the Metal Slugs to PS4 or PS3 and Vita…I know we had Anthology for PS4 some months ago but we’re still missing Metal Slug XX.This year Metal Slug turns 20…come on we need something special for it.

  • Please bring these games and the arcade archive games to the Vita.

    • pablikenemy79

Save the money and wait just 3 months for the Nintendo Switch….
Sony don’t care about Vita Owners.

  • NeoGeo games deserves better. Unless you are going to add online, MVS / AES option, improve your UI and offer bug fixes, please stay away from the rest of the NeoGeo library and let another company handle them.

  • Not even online for these? That makes these fighting games kinda worthless unless you’re someone that holds tourneys in public places. Good for preserving gaming history but these are basically wastes of time without the online multiplayer in this day and age.

  • Twisted_Ideas

I wonder what the prices will be. I hope they aren’t as offensive as some of the Arcade Archives games

  • It all began in 94
    Kept on rolling in 95
Pieces fell in place in 96
It came to the end in 97
And now it comes and here we go! The KOF is here again!

  • xxnike629xx

    Art of Fighting
    Art of Fighting 2
    Art of Fighting 3

    Fatal Fury series

    NeoGeo Battle Coliseum

    Samurai Shodown
    Samurai Shodown II
    Samurai Shodown III
    Samurai Shodown IV
    Samurai Shodown V
    Samurai Shodown VI

    SVC Chaos: SNK Vs. Capcom

The King of Fighters ’94 Re-Bout
    The King of Fighters ’95
    The King of Fighters ’96
    The King of Fighters ’97
The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match
    The King of Fighters ’99
    The King of Fighters 2000
    The King of Fighters 2001
    The King of Fighters 2002
    The King of Fighters 2003
    The King of Fighters XI
    The King of Fighters Neowave
    The King of Fighters XII
The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match
    The King of Fighters XIII

And then how about working with Capcom and bringing over:

    Capcom Vs. SNK Pro
    Capcom Vs. SNK 2

    And then making:

    Capcom Vs. SNK 3
    SVC Chaos 2

Even if the older games are just remasters without online, I’d be fine.

  • chrispinzon

    Thanks! This game has trophies?.
    Please also KOF 98UM.

  • Windjammers?

    Somehow?

    Please?

  • Why No Vita? Are you people Serious??? You do know that Vita is dead and SONY themselves are no Longer Supporting Vita. So why would any of these Games get released on Vita???

    Really People!!!

But now that Nintendo has Announced Nintendo Switch??? Maybe SONY will do a PlayStation Vita2 that works the exact same way as the new Nintendo Switch??? If Sony Did that then Vita2 would be a MAJOR hit, Play it at Home…. Play it on the Big Screen TV and take it on the GO…. And if it also played Original Vita Games and PS1 and PSP Digital Classics Plus new Vita2 Games on the Go or even on the BIG Screen TV This would be a Major HIT on SONY’s Hands…. PlayStation TV for the Big Screen was a Good Start But lacked many Features and tons of Vita games wouldn’t even work on PlayStation TV the Main reason why it Failed….

So PlayStation Vita2 that works on the BIG TV and on the go….. Now were Talkin’ SONY listen to this idea and get it Done. I for one be happy to buy a Vita2 if I could play it on the Go and Also hook it up to the Big Screen TV OH MAN!

SONY You gotta Make this PlayStation Vita2…. That’ll make Nintendo Switch run and hide for sure… DO IT!

  • project_redsuns

So I’m guessing this is going to be Neo Geo Station version 2? Will we get one game per half a year? Jesus, you’d think that SNK would learn from their mistakes. But no…they’re still f**kups as usual. And no VITA support? LAME!!! Oh and if any asks about getting a PS4, I am not interested in a PS4.

I like to give SNK the benefit of the doubt, but their history and management leaves a lot to be desired…

  • When will we get Garou MOTW?

  • If bandai could give us tenkaichi 3, that would be great.

  • Kharmeister

Glad I kept my PS3 around. Between that and the handful of SNK games I have on Xbox One via back compat I have access to most of the SNK games I care about. This is nice but the PS4 has been out for 3 years already, and as usual the SNK ports are now just starting to trickle out, with the same paltry selection as last time. Why not release MORE titles, with a wider variety as anthologies and get it overwith?

  • thetrueFifo

    When’s Garou?

  • As many pointed out. The Vita would be great for Archive Classics. Too bad almost no support for this good portable device. Well at least there is WoFF for Vita and that’s great, next incoming is Berserk next year so it’s also cool. Plus a few more indies and Japanese titles. I’m fine with it, but it could’ve been so much greater!

  • ValhallaOutcast

love the Arcade Archieve collection, and looking forward to what will be next, would love WrestleFest, Robocop, SF1 and SF2, Alter Beast and Golden Axe….so many quarters spent on those games

  • Please bring Puzzle Bobble. It’s one of my favs :)

  • Those are nice.

So when IS Mark of the Wolves being released for PS Vita and PS4?

Also SNK and Sony, Some KOF98UM, KOF2002UM and KOFXI would be greatly welcomed on PS Vita and PS4 as well.

  • versus on line all games SNK

  • I wish the original Sengoku was re-released. Fun game I remember playing in the arcade as a kid. Never thought much of the sequels, though.

  • firkbardic8

Is it possible to get WakuWaku 7 on PS4 as well?
    That would be pretty awesome.

  • Glad to see more Neo-Geo classics making it to current gen consoles.

I’d currently like to see games which are NOT Vs. fighters. Those always make it out eventually, but the classics which I bought my Neo-Geo AES for do not. When I bought my Neo home console there wasn’t a single fighting game to be seen!

    Here’s my (non-fighter) wish list:
    01. Nam-1975
    02. Sengoku 2
    03. Baseball Stars Professional
    04. Cyber-Lip
    05. Metal Slug X
    06. League Bowling
    07. Last Resort
    08. Magician Lord
    09. Ninja Combat
    10. Top Player’s Golf
    11. Baseball Stars 2
    12. Ghost Pilots
    13. The Super Spy
    14. Blazing Star
    15. Riding Hero
