Country-life RPG Stardew Valley Coming to PS4 on December 13

2016 has been pretty wild for me. After many years of development, I released Stardew Valley, a country-life RPG inspired by some of my favorite games from the past, such as Harvest Moon. Stardew has done better than I ever imagined. The amount of positive feedback I’ve received has blown me away. Now, I’m very excited to say that Stardew Valley will be coming to PS4 on December 13 in North America and the December 14 in Europe!

In Stardew Valley, you’ll inherit your grandfather’s old farm and move away from the city to start a new life on your own. Over time, you’ll gain new skills and learn to live off the land. You’ll make friends with the locals, learn their stories, and maybe even start a family with one of the 12 bachelors or bachelorettes. Stardew Valley gives you plenty of freedom to create the homestead of your dreams!

When I began working on Stardew Valley about five years ago, I had very little game development experience. As time went on, my skills improved and I ended up re-doing nearly everything in the game several times. It was important to me to not only create the game I had been dreaming about, but also to make a great first impression. As a one-man team, I felt personally responsible for every aspect of the game, so I spent a lot of time fussing over everything, as well as releasing numerous patches and content updates after the initial launch. I hope that my attention to detail shines through in the final product.

I am thrilled to see Stardew Valley come to PS4. Bringing the game to PS4 opens the Stardew Valley experience to so many new people, and I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experience with the game.

I hope you enjoy your time in the valley!

  • Super looking forward to this! So impressed that a game made by one person has gotten so much positive press this year. With all of the big triple A publishers, not to mention the multitude of smaller independent developers, it’s quite an amazing feat. Congrats on your success Eric!

  • I’ve been dying to play this game! Any word on any differences between console vs PC in terms of gameplay or updates?

  • This would be great on the PS Vita. If you ever release it on that platform I’ll buy it in a heart beat

  • Looking forward to this. Hope it comes to Vita.

  • I’ve spent SO many hours playing Stardew Valley on PC! This game is amazing and definitely worth picking up on PS4 as well! I’m looking forward to getting it on my PS4. I’m curious though, does the PS4 version intend on having any online co-op in it? I know there were plans for co-op for PC version so I’m curious as to whether or not the PS4 version will have co-op. Thanks for making such a great game!

  • I love Harvest Moon. Your story is also very inspiring. Congratulations on bring your game to the PS4. I will be purchasing this day one.

  • Chiming in with Day 1 purchase if it comes out Vita*

    *crossing my fingers…

  • I have been waiting for so long for this, not just this game but any game like harvest moon to come out on ps4. My wants aside, this guy deserves a round of applause and a pat on the back for creating a game so successful especially being only one peperson.

  • +1 for Vita, would definitely buy it there.

  • take my money NOW! (searched but i can’t ‘preorder’ but i will be getting this game)

  • I will be all over this when (?!?) it comes out for the VITA!!

  • This game would be a blast on the go. Here’s hoping for a Vita version!

  • I’ve put about 200 hours into this on PC, but I still intend to pick it up for PS4 on Tuesday. Really hope the Vita version ends up happening, because I’ll pick it up there too (assuming it isn’t retroactively cross buy).

Glad to see that this appears to have the 1.1 patch baked in (there were only 10 marriage options prior to the patch), I like the changes that were made with it. I’m also really eager to see how the controls have been modified, as controller support on the PC is my one major bugbear with that version. It’s not as intuitive as it could be, especially in menus.

  • This should win indie game of the year, hands down.

  • Awesome!

  • I wish Natsume would make a new version of Harvest Moon for this gen.

  • Stardew Valley – Game of the Year 2016

  • I’m so thrilled to get this. I have it on the pc and I absolutely love it!

  • Day one purchase for me. I own it on Steam and it’s great, but I want the controller/couch experience.

  • VITA!!!! (please :)

  • I have it on PC already, and while I enjoyed it I stopped after 5 hours because it’s just not the type of game I want to play held down to my computer. Neither do I want to be strapped down to my console.

This would be an instant buy for me on the Vita, however, where I could just chill wherever I want in the house and play. No buy on ps4, instant buy on Vita. Let’s see it happen please.

  • Vittaaaaaaaaaaa. Giant Bomb talked about there being a Vita version. Rushed to buy this game after hearing amazing reviews of it and it’s PS4 only. I love Remote Play, but good lord would this be an amazing game for road trips.
