The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 1/10/2017

The stage is set. The spotlight is bright. The crowd is roaring. The world renowned vocaloid prepares for another performance in Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone, launching next week on PS4.

Celebrate all things Miku with Future Tone, a massive collection of songs and pure arcade gameplay. Two different sets of music on PlayStation Store (Future Sound and Colorful Tone) come packing more than 220 songs for you to master. With callouts to classic SEGA games (OutRun, Space Channel 5, Valkyria Chronicles) and plenty of unlockables, this will keep Miku fans singing for a while.

Finally, you may notice a few changes with The Drop as we move into the new year. Starting this week, we’ll begin including more PlayStation Store coverage right here on The Drop in lieu of a dedicated PS Store Update post. In addition to revealing the week’s new releases, The Drop will curate a list of other content starting each Tuesday, from major add-ons and DLC to select discounts, themes, and more. Let us know what you think!

Have a great 2017, and enjoy the Drop!

  • So, it’s Wednesday now and NOTHING… No update post at all, not even the promised Tuesday DROP with “curated” highlights.

Yeah, my cynicism was definitely unwarranted. :/

It’s just too much trouble to inform customers, I guess.

    Disappointing.

  • I’m not going onto the webstore to try and muddle through that horrible UI to figure out what’s new and what’s on sale, especially with people constantly commenting on the Store Update posts that sales are active, but in wrong sections, or not even listed on the Update post.
If you don’t feel it’s worth your time to tell us what’s new on the Store, and what’s on Sale this week, then it obviously isn’t worth my money. So while it will hurt everyone except the largest developers, this is your doing Sony.
I’ll just keep my eye on games I actually hear about, and wait for you to come to your senses and start actually giving us information. With a new member on the Social Media team (hi Zac!), you really shouldn’t be cutting the content available on the Blog, but rather increasing it.
    Really disappointed in this move.

  • Okay, I almost never come on here to complain, but I’m not understanding the new update system. Did the store update today? Any place to find what (if any) deals are on for this week? Confused!

  • How about a SALE on Ultra Street Fighter IV the UK PlayStation Store has had this Title on SALE many times now. They have it for like 60% off SALE right now…. Why in the WORLD hasn’t this Title been put on SALE on the USA PlayStation Store as well?

I already paid full price for this Title on PS3, So There is no way I’m paying full Price for a Game I already Paid full Price for on PS3 then. But would like to get it on PS4 since it’s in 1080p and all But come on,

Put this Game on PS4 On SALE so we too can get it….. UK PlayStation Store can do it there’s no Excuse that USA PlayStation Store can’t put it on SALE as well, Make that Happen Please?

  • Currently watch PSILOVEYOUXOXO and had to check out that Planet 2000 picture.

  • Where the heck is the Store Update post, guys? What the hell? I’m not combing through the store UI to find deals. Luckily my backlog is long enough to not mind not paying for more games this week.

  • “The Drop will curate a list of other content starting each Tuesday, from major add-ons and DLC to select discounts, themes, and more. Let us know what you think!”

Umm, hello? McFly? Seriously do you really want me to let you know what I think? Why? So it can be completely ignored?

  • I agree. Why would you get rid of the Store Update post? What is wrong with you? Seems like a very poor decision. Atleast do a short post so when know that the update is all set and state briefly what games are on sale, with the chart you used to do. …

  • I agree entirely, your UI for Playstation 4 Store is atrocious, difficult to properly navigate and extremely slow, why build a UI that demands more than what the platform can provide, or using a player for the content that’s rubbish, expected the PS Pro would have sorted that problem out but I was wrong. Which is why I used the PS Store Update for all my info on this website, which is now pointless if there’s no specific highlights or price deals etc.

  • As others have already said, the new changes implemented for this year in terms of the store update represents a step – a significant step – backwards. The point of this blog is to get information in to the hands of consumers – that is how excitement and sales are generated. The former store update did an adequate job ensuring this. Hiding information – withholding information – is illogical and counter-intuitive to the whole purpose of what a blog is for. Stated another way, what is the point of having a blog to communicate with your customers if you have no intention of actually communicating with your customers in the first place?

  • Strange move, to put it kindly. The store post was the only easy way to shop on PSN and keep abreast of everything that’s new and discounted. Now, there’s this post, which links to flickr photos, and … nothing else? I don’t get it. But I guess this makes it easier to avoid making impulse purchases, since I don’t even know they exist (or it’s a hassle to get to them if I do)? Always an upside.

  • Where the hell is the Drop (in lieu of) the Store update, guys? wtf.

Sony totally dropping the ball passed into the new year.

  • Planet 2000 looks sweeeet! Just check out that cool lookin chick in the background overlooking the destruction derby

  • If this is the New Year’s joke by PS Blog, ok, you gotcha us totally! But isn’t funny any more! What happened?! While European stores still has January sale with 12 pages of games, as Japanese market is a story in itself, why US store has such ignorant attitude towards their customers? I’m not mad at Playstation store or sale politics, I’m particulary keen on the Blog because YOU announced The Drop from January 10th, but we have Weekly deals only with a few miserable games on discounts. Please, according to the rules of Blog, next time you need to check first with bosses from Store and then write here.

  • Life of Black Tiger isn’t in the store…though not sure who would want to play that.

  • I rarely read the Drop, so I had no notification that the store update would be ending.

I just added funds to my profile after getting a PS4 on Black Friday and I’m gonna be ticked off it there is no sales going on.

Last two weeks there hasn’t been anything spectacular to get my attention, sales-wise.

It’s been at least a few weeks now, and not once has there been any additional data in the Drop posts, such as DLC, discounts, etc. It was even explicitly stated in this post that those details would be provided. When will this actually happen, if at all?
