Call of Cthulhu Plunges into the Depths of Madness This Year on PS4

Hello! I’m Jean-Marc Gueney and I’m here to talk about the official Call of Cthulhu videogame we’re working on at Cyanide. The trailer we hope you’ll enjoy is depicting protagonist Pierce’s submersion into the depths of madness, as he investigates a mysterious death on Darkwater Island, Boston.

Call of Cthulhu Plunges into the Depths of Madness This Year on PS4

You’ll notice a lot of hallmark Lovecraftian themes in this trailer, which was created to convey the mood we’re aiming for in the story. The idea that you’re never quite sure if what you’re seeing is real, or a symptom of madness — or both!

As a Private Detective, Edward Pierce is used to trusting his instincts. But with whale mutilations and disappearing bodies, this is only the beginning as reality becomes skewed. As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see. You will have to find balance between your own sanity, and your determination in finding out what lurks in the shadows…

Delve head-first into madness as Call of Cthulhu: The Official Videogame launches this year on PS4.

  • Is this a port of the 2005 Xbox game Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth?

  • nidgetorg_be

    It looks interesting to me.

    Looks interesting

  • as a life long fan of Lovecraft and all inspired from him, I’m excited about this! Any chance for having some PS VR support?

    • That would be nice. Any game for PSVR that takes more than 20 mins to finish would be nice right now.

  • Looks interesting, more importantly, sounds intriguing.

  • lostfanatic6

Love Lovecraft, so I am super pumped about this one! Just hope they can nail the Lovecraft “feel”.

I very much enjoy Lovecraft but catching the right mood is the trick. the last really good game was elder sign on iOS.. I will pick this up regardless.

….Call of the Cthulhu….sounds familiar. Oh yea Philip Lovecraft scary book!

  • “The idea that you’re never quite sure if what you’re seeing is real, or a symptom of madness — or both!”

Hope it’s mean that there is some clever mechanic like we experienced in the cult game, Eternal Darkness!

Wow that trailer looks great and I am so in. Day one purchase for sure! It would also be great if we got a creepy theme with the purchase I love lovecrafty stuff and there hasn’t been much in the way of games except Bloodborne and Darkest Dungeon but an adventure game is exactly what is needed for that universe.

Looks interesting for sure. I’ll keep an eye out for it when it’s near launch. Will it get a PC launch first? I ask cause i like reading the reviews… since I’m a Mac using and PC gaming just makes me sad.

  • Hm, might be okay. But Cyanide is one of those devs that just can’t seem to take that next step to making great games, instead just uninspired average ones that suggest if they just showed a little more creativity and dedication, it could’ve been special…

It looks really interesting. I hope this will be a good game.

  • Looks awesome! Who is the “Too indie” clown? Apologize!

  • cap10_amazing_

Looks badass! Made me reminisce eternal darkness… which is a good thing.

  • Holy fhtagn, looks nice!

  • As a big fan of the Call of Cthulu board games such as Arkham Horror, Eldrtich Horror etc… I am really looking forward to this game!!

    • ColdIron-v13

The board games are how I fell down this dark and twisted rabbit hole. Im interested but also cautious as something like this is all about immersion but that can be easily broken when you beat Cthulhu by bludgeoning him with a baseball bat. Not that I don’t mind that but this game has a lot of potential that is easy to not reach. I think I will wait on a review to see if the starts are right.

  • Nice surprise! Wasn’t expecting a Lovecraftian horror game for the PS4, but I’m supporting it!

    Hi everyone,
It’s very thrilling to see that our enthusiasm is shared by so many Lovecraft ‘connaisseur’. Here, at Cyanide Studio we are working to create the right Lovecraft/Cthulhu Rpg game. We hope it will match your expectations. Thank you all for your support. Without further ado, back to insanity, i mean work.
