PlayStation Now Service Update

We’d like to share an important update on compatible devices for PlayStation Now.

On August 15, 2017, we will be discontinuing the service on the following devices:

  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV
  • All 2013, 2014, 2015 Sony Bravia TV models
  • All Sony Blu-ray player models
  • All Samsung TV models

Additionally, 2016 models of Sony Bravia TVs will be discontinued on April 1, 2017.

After thoughtful consideration, we decided to shift our focus and resources to PS4 and Windows PC to further develop and improve the user experience on these two devices. This move puts us in the best position to grow the service even further. If you use any of the above devices, we want to give our heartfelt thanks for your support, and we hope you’ll continue with us. Remember that all of your PS Now cloud game saves can easily be accessed on both PS4 and Windows PC.

If you do not wish to continue your subscription, please remember to disable auto-renewal in your account settings so that your subscription ends by April 1, 2017 on 2016 Sony Bravia TVs, and August 15, 2017 on all other devices. For 3 months subscribers, depending on when you joined the service, your subscription may auto-renew a month or two before the service discontinuation date if you do not turn it off.

  • Why can’t the PS4 console just add backwards compatibility just like they did with the first PS3 console, and the PS2 console? then we wouldn’t really need a PS3 console to play games that isn’t on the Playstation Now.

    • Simple. It would cost them more money to have a ‘cell broadband engine’ put in the PS4, not to mention – actual cooling methods for two CPU’s on one board… come on! It’s doable but expensive and you need understand this from a business perspective. PS Now is obviously going to host PS4 titles soon, this maybe the reason why they’re doing this. I honestly don’t see this as a deal breaker when most have cheap Windows 10 computers already.

  • This is utterly disgusting. Aside from the fact that I still have THREE AND A HALF YEARS FINANCE left on my Bravia which I bought BECAUSE it was advertised as including PS Now, you’re ACTUALLY discontinuing support on the LATER Bravia models BEFORE the earlier ones!!! What is wrong with your company???

  • I for one want to know what Sony’s plan for PS Now is. After discontinuing it on practically all devices except ps4 and PC does that mean Sony will spend their time really improving it and putting all the games we want on it and making it run super smoothly? will this now include ps4, ps2 and ps1 games? After just hearing about Microsoft’s Game Pass addition where one gets to actually download the games to play them, way better way of doing this than streaming!!! they may be behind the sales, but they have things in the pipeline that are brilliant and ahead of Sony.

Now I want to hear from Sony what their plan is for ps now going forward and what they plan to add game wise in the next few months!

    Sony please respond!

  • After trying the trial for PlayStation Now I was going to sign up for it but since they’re going to limit what I can use PlayStation now on I will never sign up for it…

  • The only reason I bought my Sony Blu-Ray player over other brands was because of PS Now. Sony had something to offer the others did not. They all have Netflix, Hulu and even Amazon Prime access but PS Now was the clincher. Because of PS Now I invested into almost 2 years of service and 2 brand new DS4 controllers (even though I could not use them wirelessly). The DS4 controllers were even branded as PS Now Starter Kits, that each came with a month of PS Now service. Now that I am shopping for new TVs, I guess Sony will not be on the list. No need to buy into a feature that is going away.

  • Knew it… really disappointed about this. :(
