From Danganronpa to Ys: The 7 NIS Games Coming to PlayStation in 2017

Chris King's Avatar Posted by Associate Product Marketing Manager, NIS America, Inc.

Hi everyone! Chris King from NIS America here to give you a complete list of all the PlayStation announcements we made at our annual press event in San Francisco.

We announced three new game localizations, release dates for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, and two other games — and brand new content coming to Suda 51’s The Silver Case for PS4! Brace yourself — there’s a ton of news here, dood!

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

PS4, PS Vita
Fall 2017

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Nihon Falcom to bring the action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana to PS4 and PS Vita in Fall 2017! We’re also happy to share that the game will have dual audio (English and Japanese), as well as in-game text in English and French.

This will be the first brand-new Ys adventure in eight years! The story begins with Adol, shipwrecked and stranded on a cursed island. There, he and the other castaways establish a village to challenge fearsome beasts and explore mysterious ruins on the island. Amidst this, Adol begins to dream of a mysterious blue-haired maiden named Dana living in an unknown world. Join Adol as he unravels the riddle of the cursed isle and the blue-haired maiden in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana!

Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle

PS4, PS Vita (Digital)
Summer 2017

The latest and greatest Touhou game awaits with Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle, coming to PS4 and PS Vita (digital-only) in Summer 2017.

Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is a fast-paced, one-on-one fighting game set on 3D square areas where your goal is to deplete your opponent’s life bar using a wide variety of bullet-hell patterns, melee attacks, and spell cards. You can also perform dashes, double-jumps, and mid-air dashes to avoid bullets and demoralize your opponent!

Tokyo Tattoo Girls

PS Vita

The strategy title Tokyo Tattoo Girls will be arriving on PS Vita in 2017! In this game, Tokyo has been devastated and some of the city’s survivors find themselves with mysterious yet powerful abilities bestowed upon them by colorful tattoos. The city has been divided into 23 wards, each controlled by a powerful group known as “Kumi”. Together, these Kumi form the “Union.”

As the player, you will choose a companion character who will help you defeat all of Tokyo’s 23 wards and escape the city. Develop your companion’s abilities by giving her powerful tattoos to defeat the “Union” and make your escape!

In addition, we officially revealed the release dates for all of the following PlayStation games:

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
PS4, PS Vita
September 26, 2017

Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy
PS Vita
May 16, 2017

Cladun Returns: This Is Sengoku!
PS4, PS Vita (Digital)
June 6, 2017

Last but not least, we announced that Suda 51’s The Silver Case for PS4 will include two brand-new chapters: “Yami”, which takes place several months after the last chapter and serves as a conclusion to the initial game, and “White Out Prologue,” which occurs afterward with a time leap, linking The Silver Case universe with Suda 51’s episodic sequel The Silver Case: Ward 25!

I really hope you’re excited for our lineup this year everyone, and thank you all for your support over the years.

If you’d like to check out the complete list of all the games we announced at our press event, visit our NISA blog. With that said, we’ll have much more information to share for these games soon, so stay tuned, dood!

    No Ar Tonelico games?!

    djdmob said:

    February 22nd, 1:51 pm

NISA doesn’t really control weather if a new Ar Tonelico game gets made or not. You’ll have to ask Gust/Koei Tecmo for that. All NISA did with Ar Tonelico was localize the games.

A Ys game not handled by xseed? Looks like this is gonna be the first one I skip.

    slsbigboss said:

    February 17th, 9:39 pm

Why? Xseed doesn’t make the Y’s games, it’s Falcom that makes them. Xseed and NIS only localize the game.

    Bluesrhap said:

    February 18th, 12:39 am

never call them Y’s games again omfg

    slsbigboss said:

My bad don’t know why I spelled it that way.

    Bluesrhap get over yrself. omfg.

    djdmob said:

    February 22nd, 2:06 pm

Why skip Ys VIII? Because Xseed isn’t handling the localization? Just so you know or at least I hope you know, NIS didn’t make Ys VIII. Nihon Falcom made it. All NISA is doing is localizing the game for the West. I guess Xseed/Marvelous USA decided to not localize the game this time around.

Just 2 Things
1 – Does Tokyo Tattoo Girls have physical copy?
2 – Is Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle digital on both PS4 and vita
Thanks for more touhou in the west

    1) For Tokyo Tattoo Girls – We’ll have more concrete information on this soon!
    2) For Touhou Kobuto V – PS4 is physical, PS Vita is digital

    Touhou to the masses!

A couple of the titles have “(Digital Only)” listed next to the Vita version, so I’m going to assume since Tokyo Tattoo Girls does not say that—it will have a physical release in the States. So, yay! Right?!

Super hyped for all of these. Nis America is one of my favorite dev teams and it’s nice to see so much support for the Vita.

    Bluesrhap said:

    February 18th, 10:24 am

NIS America doesn’t make games, they just do a shoddy job of localizing them

With God Wars, Rose in the Twilight and Touhou Wanderer thats 9 games this year NISA is bringing to Vita.

I will be buying every single one. Yup the Vita sure is dead *eyeroll*

Vita is definitely not. Do wish they’d make a first party title, though.

Acid08 said:

February 17th, 9:34 pm

Can you answer why all the Ys VIII descriptions on this blog and on your store don’t mention the content differences between the PS4 and Vita versions? You should be letting consumers know whether the differences are indeed still there or whether the Vita version is also receiving the extra content.

Thanks for dubbing YS. Wish you guys would of gotten tokyo xanadu as well instead of those other people. Anywho you got my 100 bucks for the limited edition.

    Bluesrhap said:

    February 18th, 10:25 am

How do people seriously unironically want Falcom games from anyone other than Xseed

    Souledge94 said:

    February 18th, 6:28 pm

While I do find it odd xseed didint get the game. I mean did they have a fight or something? Im still happy Nisa got it and not someone like arc system works since recently they are shown to get more and more iffy with localization like the blazeblue situation.Having one GG game dub,but the next not and the recent xanadu.

    AliciaDarky said:

    February 18th, 6:38 pm

Now you made me think that it could have been better if Arc Systems Works localized those games. We’d be getting them faster. Oh, well =/.

    Souledge94 said:

    February 18th, 6:48 pm

isint it better that we get it dual to make both sides happy instead of rushing it out just to make one side happy.

    Bluesrhap said:

    February 19th, 5:47 pm

@Souledge94 an Xseed representative said they’re still on good terms with Falcom on their forums, so I imagine NISA made a better offer on publishing rights compounded with Xseed’s schedule being too packed to get Ys VIII to the west as quickly as Falcom wants. We probably won’t know for sure for a long time. All I hope is that Xseed doesn’t lose Trails, considering that series has a story way too intricate at this point for another team to step in while it’s ongoing, no matter who it is.

@AliciaDarky I’ll take quality over speed.

    AliciaDarky said:

    February 19th, 9:48 pm

I wasn’t talking about that, I just don’t want dubs at all since these companies don’t even have huge budgets to get good ones. Although, if they did, I’d always choose the original VOs.

I only wish the get $15 for $100 spent was allowed for these preorders. I miss the get $10 for spending $50 deal. I mean it’s hard enough to buy $100+ on games in one shot. Many of us have a backlog. At least with a preorder I can space out what I’ll be playing next. I wouldn’t mind if you resticted 1 preorder towards purchase credit for one now, one later combo buys.

Nice to see that Ys VIII is coming to the PS4, but we still need Ys IV, V, and VII for the PS4. I have the others on Steam, and I’m not buying a Vita just to play IV and VII. Since I insist on playing them in order, I’ll have to wait for the others to be released before I play VIII.

Looking forward to some of these games. Thanks for bringing them over. Would be nice if you had a store in Canada to reduce shipping costs here. No way I’ll ever be able to afford another CE from you guys with the CAD being so awful.
