Monster Hunter: World Journeys to PS4 Early 2018

The legendary series comes home! Team up with up to three other Hunters via drop-in / drop-out co-op and venture forth.

Yuri Araujo's Avatar Posted by Community Manager, Capcom

Since the very first Monster Hunter game on PlayStation 2, our development team has been creating engaging, memorable gameplay experiences that capture the thrill of the hunt. Now, with Monster Hunter: World — just announced at the PlayStation E3 Press Conference! — we have something truly special we’re excited to share with the PlayStation community. This newest game in the Monster Hunter series will transport you to a new world built with stunning visuals and a living, breathing ecosystem of interactive flora and fauna. And for the first time in series history, Monster Hunter: World will have a simultaneous global launch window and cross-region online multiplayer so that all PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro users around the world can enjoy hunting together.

A New World

In Monster Hunter: World you take on the role of a hunter venturing to a new continent where you track down and slay ferocious beasts in heart-pounding battles. This new land and its diverse inhabitants play a critical role in each quest as you strategically use the surrounding environment including terrain, vegetation and wildlife to your advantage in battle or become hindered by the hazards they present. As a hunter, you must use your cunning and expertise to track and maneuver your targets throughout the intense, evolving battles.

Cooperative Multiplayer

Hunting monsters is no small feat. To even the odds against the formidable opponents you’ll face, you can team up with up to three other hunters and cooperate to take down colossal threats. With flexible online drop-in functionality, you can start your quests solo, and, if your target is too daunting to take on single-handedly, simply hail for assistance from the global online community.

Refined Gameplay

Our development team at Capcom Japan has spent more than 10 years honing a very satisfying set of gameplay systems, ranging from the purposeful combat mechanics of the flexible weapon options to the strategic crafting process that fuels you to tackle hunt after hunt. Weapons and armor are created using loot collected from fallen foes, which then motivate and prepare you for even bigger challenges. In Monster Hunter: World, we’ve built upon that legacy even further and are very excited to bring that experience to PlayStation 4 players and see all the different ways you come up with to hunt the monsters in the new game early next year.

I second that. I tried the PSP games but it just felt too small. Tri on the wii was nice and the ipad version was great. Now though its back home and Im glad to see it. I got to know, will it be cross platform?

Monster Hunter Worlds is on Xbox One and PC in addition to PS4. Probably won’t have any cross-platform multi-player.

Probably would sell better on Vita just in Japan than XB1 worldwide, but whatever.

Can we get some more info on changes ? Also can I have a private match friends only or is the only option for public play?

I am just worried that this isn’t the monster Hunter fans know and love.

Either way, thanks for getting the series off handhelds finally

Great, finally can play MH on PS Consoles. Instead of the Pixelated 3DS.

Would like to see a MH game on the Vita. Would be a nice to see if it can top the Soul Sacrifice Series, God Eater Series, Ragnarok Odyssey Series, Toukiden Series, and Freedom Wars.

    +1 on this

Now that Monster Hunter is coming back to Playstation, I’m feeling more hopeful that maybe Capcom would one day also make a vita game.

Capcom hates Vita. You will never see another game from them on a PlayStation handheld again.

Vita really could’ve used a Monster Hunter game in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015… You know, since Monster Hunter is most popular on portable platforms and the final PlayStation handheld game, which was only released in Japan, remains the best selling entry in general.

I cannot tell you how INFINITELY stoked I am for this! I’ve actually been campaigning for an MH title on Playstation since MH 3 was cancelled for the PS3. That’s right; it’s been 11 years that I’ve been waiting for this. I almost cried when I saw the trailer during the live stream. My friends I were freaking out (we’re all MH fanatics). I’ve adored this series since it launched on PS2 and I’m thrilled it’s finally coming home. Thank you, Capcom and Sony, for making this real.

I would also like to second the support for a Vita title. I know it’s likely to never happen, but I want you to know I’m yet one more person who would love to see that happen. Consider it one more preorder upon which you can depend.

On that note, I will absolutely be preordering MH World.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Sincerely,

An old, faithful Monster Hunter

YES. YES. YES. YES. YES. YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
This is literally the only game that is needed on PS4. This is the one game that you can put out as much DLC and I will eat it up like candy all day everyday. I want to give you so much money just for this one title. I’m going to laugh ridiculously if this game releases for 60 dollars, because that is a STEAL. My whole wallet is ready for this release. If there’s a limited edition PS4 Pro bundle that releases for this, COUNT ME IN. If there’s any sort of collector edition, COUNT ME IN. This is the best gaming announcement for me since MGSV. This needed to happen YEARS AGO, but I am glad it’s happening now. The perfect time to happen! THANK YOU SONY AND CAPCOM!
