Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Out Today as Standalone Game

The Days of Summer event begins, featuring new weapons, emblems, and uniforms.

Today, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is out on PS4 as a standalone game. Remastered in true high-definition, it features enhanced textures, rendering, lighting, and much more to bring the experience of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to a new generation of fans.

You can pick up the game as a physical disc or as a digital download for $39.99 ($49.99 CAD). Also starting today –and continuing for a limited time — the Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Map Pack is available on PlayStation Store for $9.99 ($19.99 CAD), adding four new maps to Modern Warfare Remastered along with ten Rare Operation Lion Strike Supply Drops for your inventory.

Activision is also launching Call of Duty Days of Summer today where you can earn a free Days of Summer Supply Drop each week through August 1 at 10:00 AM Pacific by logging into the game each Monday by 11:59 PM Pacific. Make sure to log in each week or you’ll miss out.

These drops will contain more than 40 Days of Summer items like Weapon Kits, Melee Weapons, Emblems, Camos, Reticles, Calling Cards, and Uniforms. Plus, you can earn a special Sun-soaked Graves character if you complete all of the Days of Summer Collections in Modern Warfare Remastered.

In addition to the loot, the Bog map has received a complete summer makeover. The dumpster fires and night setting have been replaced with a beachside hangout filled with sand castles, colorful seaside graffiti, a surfboard shop, café, and more. There are also four different Days of Summer weapon camos for you to unlock on Beach Bog through challenges, and make sure you complete them before August 1 at 10:00 AM Pacific, because they’ll be packed up when Days of Summer comes to a close.

But that’s not all. There’s a special Beachcomber edition of Prop for Days of Summer, so in addition to all the props you know and love, beach-themed props like beach balls, sand castles, surfboards, and more will be added to the mix for your hide and seek skills.

Days of Summer is also available starting today in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, complete with new weapons and new camos. To help build your collection, log into Infinite Warfare every Monday for a free Supply Drop, and every Wednesday and Friday for a free item from the Days of Summer collection. Plus, look for new Days of Summer items in the Summer Hack every week until August 1.

To top it off, Infinity Ward is adding characters from Infinite Warfare’s Campaign to the Multiplayer as well as characters from across the Call of Duty franchise. You’ll be able to play the Warfighter Rig as Omar, the Merc as Reyes, Synaptic as ETH.3N, FTL as Salter, Stryker as Price, and Phantom as Ghost.

Additionally, players who jump into Infinite Warfare between today and August 1 at 10:00 AM Pacific can play on the Turista map from the Continuum DLC Map Pack for free, giving them a taste of how the rich and famous enjoy beach vacations in the future.

You can also celebrate Days of Summer in Call of Duty: Black Ops III starting at 10:00 AM Pacific on July 11 through August 1. Players will have a chance to earn a limited Pack-a-Punch camo, and will also be able to play all four of the maps from the Awakening DLC for free, including the Summer-tastic water park of doom, Splash. And if you happen to own Awakening already, Treyarch will give you Double XP during Days of Summer from July 11 until August 1.

Call of Duty Days of Summer has a lot more in store as well, because across all three games you’ll find special playlists, challenges, and events to power up your Days of Summer experience, starting today.

Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Please put up the mid year sale having a hard time going through the store cause u don’t separate the ps4 games from the ps3 or vita games

  • The arrogance to charge for a separate map pack on top of the base remastered game is nothing short of astonishing.

  • earth_inheritor

I know Sony didn’t choose the price but this is a total disgrace. $40 for 1 remaster, and then to charge $10 on top for a few maps is bloody insanity.

  • EverythingOnFire

    $40 for a 7 month-old remaster of a 10 year old game. Seems legit.

  • CyborgGreyFox

70$ in Canada? LMAO! Get the **** out Activision. If you wanted the “worst video game company” award for 2017 let me tell you, you’re in the running!

  • BritishGolgo13

    No. Not. Nope.

  • mariosoragash

This pricing and release are terrible. I really don’t want this to become a trend.

  • I feel bad for you activision but this is what happens. Gamers aren’t as stupid as you might think they are.

  • Fantasymaker

What happened to digital was going to allow for lower price points. Especially on an older game. Sounds like greed got in the way. Also dropping this here as well Sony backwards compatibility shows true love of gaming also cross platform playing. Quit hurting the players your customers. As with recent news ps5 will eventually be released. It looks like I might switch as I enjoy my older games and don’t believe in pay 2 to 3 times to stay current. Because let’s face it your going to drop support for ps3 soon and will happen at some point when future gens come along. Then your going to force us to rebut to enjoy past games.

This is EXACTLY why I dont buy vast majority of my games digital. Its a scam. Lower material and production costs yet costs the same, yeah forget that.

    • otaku_no_bfm

I buy almost nothing at full price now to compensate. I have a huge backlog so it’s not a problem.

  • ValhallaOutcast

anyone with the IW legacy edition, can you test if MWR works without the IW disc, I sold IW wondering if its worth redownloading the remastered if it will now work without the IW disc

  • $40 for the standalone is hilarious and pathetic at the same time. and the map pack being “discounted” to the price it launched at back in 2007 is also pathetic.

  • ChaseHammerJ

For $40 AND charge more for DLC you can keep it.

What a slap in the face to players.

  • I am a big fan of the COD MW games but this price is telling me not to spend more money with them, I know they spent time to do it but we spent more money over the years on this too.

    I love reading these comments!
This is the kinda hate that is deserved.
Pay walls, Re releasing without making Def Edition, reselling old MPs for more then what they were new.
Greed man, can only be kept in check if they stop making money of their decisions.
Which is great since how i’ve seen this story unfold.
    A lesson for others.
Shame though, I never played and I have heard nothing but praise for this title.
Might of been fun but I can’t buy this simply of principle.
Maybe if they bundle with MPs for a good price. Maybe

  • kingkevinkelly

I cant play the game without putting in infinite warfare disc still…it directs me to pay 39.99
To be able to play it..

  • Did not expect a 40 dollar price point would of got this for 20 bucks. As a huge fan of cod4 was gonna pick up originally the infinite warfare legacy bundle but after playing the beta was not convinced it would be a solid game so I cancelled my pre order.

  • Just bought Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition New for $40. Sony are a con where digital downloads are concerned, charging more, for less!

    • +manicminor Sony has nothing to do with the prices. Put the blame where it belongs, on Activision. Surely you’ve noticed Sony tends to regularly price their older games fairly cheaply.

(In contrast, the Ratchet and Clank PS3 games are available for about 4 bucks each right now, which is less than it costs to get an SNES game on the Wii U or 3DS)

  • The price point for the remastered version, ha, forget that. Also, $9.99 USD =/= $19.99 CAD, so, forget that. Call of Duty in general, forget that, too, especially when Activision finds it perfectly fair to price gouge fans of their games. How am I supposed to be excited for this? No, pass.

  • I’ve got one finger up for Activision. Can you guess which one it is???

  • CelphTitled726

Wow…way to spit in the face of gamers.
$40 for a old game plus extra for DLC…greedy company. Was going to pre-order the new Call of Duty but now nah I’m good.
If this is how you treat your fans then screw you.

Should of been $20 with all the DLC. Everyone already owns this game and played it many hours.

  • PRICE = HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • This price is insane. And not even including the map pack? Activision is even making Nintendo look pro-consumer at this point

  • otaku_no_bfm

$9.99 ($19.99 CAD) Hahahahahahahahaha! Good luck with that exchange rate!

  • crabman1676

    Another Fail …

People have been begging for Call of duty remastered to be released as a standa alone stating they would pay $20 for this without thinking twice … versus paying $50 to $60 for the combo pack Infinite warfare/modern warfare remastered.

Now the day has come that they seperated the two and are asking $50 for a graphically remastered game and $20 for the game no one really wanted.

It feels like someone mispriced these adn the pricing needs to be reversed.

  • This is the first time since the original modern warfare that I won’t be buying call of duty. The fact that you still have to put in the infinite warfare disc to play the remaster now the modern warfare remastered has been released as a standalone is insulting.
