The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 8/8/2017

Hellblade and LawBreakers lead a strong lineup for next week.

Ryan Clements's Avatar Posted by Senior Specialist, SIEA Social Media

Explore the depths of pain and madness in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, launching August 8 on PS4.

Developed by Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, DmC: Devil May Cry), Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice follows a tormented celtic warrior on a twisted vision quest to rescue the soul of her lover. Hellblade fuses myth and madness together to pave Senua’s brutal journey, created in collaboration with neuroscientists and people living with psychosis.

Also leading the lineup next week is LawBreakers, the gravity-defying competitive shooter from renowned game designer Cliff Bleszinski. Fight in omnidirectional arenas using 18 characters and battle for supremacy.

How come no reviews for hellblade so far gets me scared that it will not be as good as we all thought. Loved ninja theorys other games.

Icey also looks like fun love back and slash games.

Hopefully that will become a reality in the next few years, when PS4 tech becomes small enough, and efficient enough for a mobile form factor.

I dream of a future where we have a PlayStation Phone similar to the Vita, with access to our entire PS4 library.

They used to publish a post of everything being released each week, including DLC and pricing info. It prompted a lot more purchases from me!

Hellblade sounds like Darkest Dungeon psychologically only the player experiences what your followers did.
Very interested to delve into Hellblade. I am just hoping it is satisfying to the end. Length is minor next to overall satisfaction.

Hellblade being released as a Digital Only is a big mistake and limits the games sales potential. We still live in an era of physical media where collectors like to display with pride their game collections. Won’t be picking this up unless it’s released at retail on a Bluray disc if Sonys gonna force my hand I may pony up at $9.99 or I’ll just wait a year for it to be a free PlayStation Plus game I suppose but still, digital only? Come on, not a game this big. Watch game room collections on YouTube, they wouldn’t exist without physical media.

Digital cuts out the middle man, and just like music it’s only a matter of time man. Just accept it.

The guys says it’s only a matter of time like music but music is still be released on CDs and there’s a resurgence on vinyl.

I’d advise people not to fall for hype and wait for reviews of Hellblade. They are so frightened of bad reviews that the review embargo doesn’t release until the game is released. That demonstrates that they have no confidence in their product. So why should you?

That and understand that all of Ninja Theory’s past games were the kind of games people talked about but didn’t really enjoy. Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry were all ok games, but they weren’t close to being great. Enslaved could have been a real classic, but they turned into a like 3D Pacman which ruined the immersion. Heavenly Sword was decent but still very flawed. DmC was a reboot that failed to reignite the franchise. Maybe the fourth time for them will be the charm.

Thank you for continuing to support indie games. Many of us love them. Going to pick up Graceful Explosion Machine and Sine Mora Ex.

G. E. M. has a platinum and it has received positive reception on an inferior device when it was released in April.
