PS Store: August’s Top Downloads

Madden, Superhot and Undertale had a good month!

Justin Massongill's Avatar Posted by Social Media Manager, SIEA

Welcome back! August was a heck of a month for game launches — let’s see who came out on top (besides people who like to play good games, of course).

Madden NFL 18 was the most downloaded game on PS4, followed by Hellblade and Sonic Mania. Undertale (a recent favorite of mine) led the PS Vita list, and Superhot VR topped the PlayStation VR chart.

Miss any of the games on this list? Head over to PlayStation Store to pick ’em up! At least one of them will fill you with determination!

Hellblade was nice but in my eyes seems way overpriced. Beat it in a day and a half also I thought 15 bucks would of been a better price point for a game you would play once and maybe never again. Overcooked is fun but only with 3 friends by yourself its boring.

I just want Sony to remove the 10% storage reserve for future OS update on the PS3. A 150GB of my 1.5TB (1300GB usable) HDD is being reserved for future OS update. If Sony removes that, I can buy more digital games for my PS3. I just have 29GB of storage left.

that 10% has nothing to do with Sony or firmware. it is the FAT (File Allocation Table) for the HDD. saving files would be useless if you didn’t have an index to look up where they are stored so there is a table of every sector on the disk and what is stored there. all disks do it and some are smaller and smarter but PS uses FAT and it is ~10%.

Really glad to see Sonic Mania on the #3 spot (even though I bought it for the Nintendo Switch and not the PS4).

How do you figure a crossbuy game like Undertale as to whether it was bought for PS4 vs Vita. What if I purchase it on the internet, you don’t know whether I bought it for my PS4 or Vita. What if I buy it on PS4 because I happen to have it on, but I actually buy it for Vita on the PS4. Or Vice Versa. Just curious how you guys come up as to what system it was bought for.

It counts on whatever platform you bought it for. Even the webstore has separate listings for each version, so it works the same way. If you added the Vita version to cart on the webstore, it counts toward Vita. If you buy it on PS4, regardless of where you eventually play it, then it counts toward PS4.

Does entering a code for Jak & Daxter (PS4) count as a purchase? Curious whether Uncharted’s preorder bonus counts toward that or not.

Psyched to see people supporting Hellblade! Hopefully powerful narrative experiences with high production values at half the cost of AAA games can make a greater impact into the market after this.
