Sledgehammer Wants to Make Zombies Scary in Call of Duty: WWII

Sledgehammer is injecting a fresh dose of fear into the celebrated co-op shooter.

Sid Shuman's Avatar Posted by Director, SIEA Social Media

Sledgehammer is bringing a fresh new perspective to its new Nazi Zombies mode that will ship alongside Call of Duty: WWII on November 3. Like its spiritual predecessors, this Zombies experience is cloaked in mystery and mystique.

Luckily, Sledgehammer’s Cameron Dayton and Jon Horsley are giving us a peek behind the curtain. The basic premise — a four-player co-op battle against waves of murderous zombies — remains intact, but Sledgehammer is intent on adding its own unique fingerprint to the celebrated co-op series. What most struck me was Sledgehammer’s focus on generating fear in the player. Watch our new video interview to learn more about Sledgehammer’s plans.

This week marks the launch of Call of Duty: WWII, and there are a ton of ways to score an exclusive theme, avatars, and other giveaways on live.playstation.com. I hope this is somewhat similar to Extinction mode, like with different character abilities and loadouts.

I’m glad they went with the scary zombies. I was worried a bit there that they were going to do the hilarious zombies.

I wish the interviewer didn’t sound so fake and douchy. Great info.

I don’t think he was actually in the same room as them, nor asking questions at the same time as their reply. It looks like canned questions, with their answers edited in later.

Seriously, I won’t be getting any more COD games unless they are like the awesome ones “Advanced Warfare”, and “Infinite Warfare”, and especially if they don’t give us Stereoscopic 3D Support like Black Ops 1 and 2 had. That was so amazing that I have not been able to see the games the same ever since they went back to the “Flat as Paper” look. If we still get Blockbuster movies on BluRay disc in 3D, and the TV sets STILL support 3D, even if they do not show it on the box, (yes, Panasonic and Sony still support 3DTV sets since the new Pacific Rim 2 and Avatar 2,3, and 4 will be amazing 3D movies), then PS4 Pro should take advantage of this and give us the 3D support we deserve. Games like the Trine series, Sniper Elie 3 and 4, and Zombie Army Trilogy, among MANY others support 3D and they are STUNNING on the PS4 Pro using Boost mode, so COD games CAN and SHOULD support this! If your forcing us to go BACK to old WW2 stuff again, (ugh..), then at least make it immersive, otherwise PASS until we get back in the air!
