PlayStation App lets you stay connected to your PlayStation 4 experience wherever you go, and today it is being updated with a completely new design, providing you with a more intuitive and smoother experience to stay connected to your friends and the games you love to play.

A change you’ll notice when you boot up the PS App, are the new tabs at the bottom of the screen for popular features such as What’s New, Friends, and your Profile. It’s now easier and faster to switch between viewing who’s online, what they are playing, and keeping up with the latest activities and posts from your friends and the PlayStation community.

You can now also easily access PlayStation Store, voucher code redemption, and other popular apps and features, including Events, Trophies, PlayStation Plus, and a list of new and upcoming PlayStation 4 games by using the new blue PlayStation button at the bottom.

After the update, the Live from PlayStation feature will no longer be accessible on PS App but you will still be able to spectate the countless game broadcasts from the dashboard of your PS4. Also, the PS4 Second Screen functionality is now a separate standalone app, allowing you to easily switch between its features and the PS App. Just as a reminder, Second Screen can be used as a keyboard to enter text on your PS4 from your mobile device, and also works with games that have a Second Screen feature.

If you don’t already have PS App installed in your mobile devices, it’s free to download through the App Store on iOS 9.0 or later and through Google Play on Android 4.1 or later. There are more improvements coming to PS App in the future, so stay tuned! Let us know what you think of PS App’s new look in the comments below.

    No playstation live.
    That was the best feature
I will no longer use this app

  • So by “upgrading” the psn app you remove even more and force people to download a 3rd app? It’s obviously not hard to have everything in one app. It was like that before you removed messages and made it it’s own app. Now we have to have second screen as a third. What a terrible idea.

So sad to see the live from PlayStation feature gone…was one of the main reasons why i downloaded the app

  • Hello~ ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ Just 2 things that I couldn’t help but notice immediately.

#1 Where did the ability to delete 0% trophy lists go?

#2 The landscape mode is gone too?

No landscape view, so it’s not better.

    I’m really happy for this.

  • I only downloaded this app for live from PlayStation. But since you took that away app deleted. Sony you just don’t get it.

  • Funny how they only respond to the few and far between positive comments. Yes it looks better, but that is the only positive thing about the redesign, the functionality is now terrible! You can’t even create events anymore which was the function my friends and I used most.

    • Yeah, not sure what they were thinking on this one.

Their lack of response only adds fuel to the fire.

  • Looks great. But what really bothers me, and others obviously, is that the app no longer supports Landscape mode.

I use the app on an iPad with an attached keyboard. There is no way to use this app anymore. Unless landscape is added, I just cannot recommend this app anymore, it is that important for some users.

Please hear our plead devs. Make the app great again.

  • Create events, you took away functionality that existed, not good.

Needlessly adding additional APPS and taking away functionality is not an upgrade. It’s shinier but no longer does what I needed it to so opening up the space on my phone instead.

  • I love the new look of the ps app on the iPhone but I do have one quick inquiry… There was a function in the last version of the app that allowed you to view other people playing certain games by genre. It would then feed out to twitch or YouTube. Where is that function now?

    playstation is # 1

  • Cannot rotate to landscape on iPad pretty much useless to me.
