PS Plus: Games for March, Additional Service Changes

Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank headline March's free games lineup.

James Hallahan's Avatar Posted by PlayStation Plus

March is just around the corner, along with spring and some really great games. Let’s see what’s coming to PS Plus next week!

First up, we have the award-winning action RPG Bloodborne. Hunt your nightmares as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

PS Plus

Next, we have Ratchet & Clank. Get acquainted (or reacquainted) with some of the greatest heroes in PlayStation history. Based on elements from the original Ratchet & Clank (PS2), Ratchet & Clank brings Insomniac’s classic, out-of-this-world-gameplay to the PS4. Join Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and their new friends as they battle to save the Solana Galaxy. Armed with an arsenal of original weapons the franchise is renowned for, including the new Pixelizer and fan-favorites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron, you’ll explore the galaxy and get a deeper look at the origin story of these two beloved characters.

This month’s PlayStation Plus lineup also includes:

  • Legend of Kay, PS3
  • Mighty No. 9, PS3 (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Claire: Extended Cut, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Bombing Busters, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)

For fans of Dungeon Defenders II, we also have the Dungeon Defenders PS Plus Pack available starting March 13 to April 10 for PS Plus members. This pack contains 4 Shadow Costumes, 1 Million in gold, 5 Campaign Shard Packs, 5 Defender Packs, and a Ninja Gato Pet. Get your hands on this PS Plus Pack and jump into the action.

We also have an important service update. Starting next year on March 8, 2019, the PS Plus monthly games lineup will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles. This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8, 2019.

Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world. We’ll continue to prioritize the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, online game save storage, PS4 monthly games, and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services. As a reminder, if you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before March 8, 2019.

There are plenty of new games and exclusive PS Store discounts to come for PS Plus members, and we look forward to sharing this with you in our ongoing monthly blog posts. As always, we thank you for your continued support.

I still play my PS3 and mainly my Vita. $60 a year
for 2 PS4 games is not worth it. which lately all the free games for all 3 platforms have been not worth it.
This is why I’m no longer paying for garbage.
Same with Amazon $100 a year for what?
Everyone delivers for free!!

This is a load of barnacles! I STILL LOVE my Vita and you guys are throwing it all away, nothing new, just forgetting the damn thing completely, also saying that the Nintendo Switch’s success is “not good”. Do something better, VR isn’t even doing good, it sucks to be honest (IMO).

The PS Vita is the ONLY game system that I have right now and I spent so much money just to have fun on it (sadly I can’t even get the rest of my psp and psone games thanks to them being undownloadable). Why make the PS3 the only thing to download from if it’s the SAME store? all the old PSP games from the PSP’s original store is gone. Everything is just dead dreams I guess. It sounds more like depression and business going to selfishness on what the head of the company wants.

If they’re gonna take away ps vita and PS3 lineups then the PS4 line ups better be the best god damn games they can get, because it would’ve been a good bargain because I have all 3 consoles.

So we’re going to get 1/3 the games we were getting in total and realistically given the cross-buy from many PS3/PSV titles a drastic reduction in PS4 playable games as well all for the same price?

Sign me up! /sarcasm

So disappointing especially the horrible old games for March! Really Sony?! Ratchet & Clank, with lol Bloodborne!? Well no thank you! Why no Farcry Primal or something different because this is not it!

    March 5th, 10:51 pm

Wow, seriously? These are amazing free games this month. Get over yourself

Sony you could’ve used some common sense by having backwards compatibility on the PS4? But instead you decided not to do this which to me was a big mistake. But now you come out with a horrible comment by saying by 2019 that you will no longer support the older games including Vita which by the way I never got to play as of yet because I still have my PSP! This is a backstab to everyone that still like the oldschool PS1-PS3!

Bloodborne is to PS4 like Super Mario Bros. was to the Nintendo or Halo to the Xbox. It’s the reason to own a PS4. If you get frustrated, don’t give up. Put it away, and try again later. Each time you come back your combat skills will sharpen. I’m excited that it’s free this month. My membership expired so I had to reup for 3 months because I’m ready to make new Bloodborne friends.

So, post-2019, can I still download PS+ Vita games I’ve ‘purchased’ from my download list or do I need to download as many as possible because I’ll lose access to them completely? I don’t have much space and I certainly won’t be investing in another Sony mem card….

Sucks for Vita users, the system hasn’t even been out for 10 years yet. On another topic it’s a pretty scumbag move from Sony to discontinue a lot of TV shows such as The Walking Dead, and Supernatural on the PS3 store midway through the season, and not offer a refund for those who bought the season pass. Well, it’s a good month for new PS4 players, I guess.

I will admit, it does suck that I won’t be able to get any new PS+ games after next year, after the trial period of PS+ goes away on my account. However, I will say this. I Play my PS3 more than a PS4. Reasons are that I just don’t have a PS4 of my own, and the two at my home belong to my younger brother and my dad, and I don’t play on those unless I feel like it, and I mostly don’t feel like it. So what are you going to do with the price of the subscription? Is it going to go down, or are you going to add a new PS4 game in the lineups after the stop of free PS3 and Vita Games, thus maintaining the price?

A few of you Bloodborne players may recognize me or my other name.

Losing PS3 games is sad, but maybe we can get PS3 games on the PS4 (Yeah right). A lot of great PS1/PS2/PS3 games never reached PS4 and no backwards compatible PS4. Ironically, despite my hate for Xbox, Microsoft has done a lot in regards to backwards compatibility.

I mean, Sony took away the entire reason I had gotten a PS3 (PS1-3 games and a Linux machine all in one). Now they are hitting the PS3 again. Go figure.

Vita, amazing console, but Sony basically let it rot. Sony took away a lot of why PSP was great. Don’t toss us Vita adopters aside.

That said, it is next year so maybe they’ll change their mind or throw in some crossbuys.

PS+ is a downer. PS+ offer fewer perks than similar services. No discount on new releases, double downtimes due to PSN and/or game servers being down (If either is down, you can’t connect).

I cut my PS+ because it was a better choice to buy the games. Unlike some services, games via monthly freebies not only expire with service, but can’t be bought when on sale unless you lose PS+! This may have been fixed since). Online was also unreliable. Even Microsoft gold was more reliable!
