Everything from Marvel’s Spider-Man at E3 2018

Marvel's Spider-Man faces a legendary threat in the new E3 Showcase trailer.

Hey everyone,

Wow, what a PlayStation E3 Showcase! That was an intense and heart-pounding evening, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we appreciated being a part of it.

We absolutely love working with the Marvel Universe and its amazing characters … and as you’ll see in the new gameplay video we showed this evening – our roster of characters in the game just expanded … a lot.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

Marvel's Spider-Man - 3Marvel’s Spider-Man

Our team is thrilled to finally show you more of what you’ll be up against in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Things heat up for Spider-Man as many of the Super Villains he has put away over his eight years as Spidey have escaped simultaneously. This is a pivotal moment in the game, where the fragile peace in New York City has now been completely shattered, as Super Villains have now escaped the maximum-security facility, the RAFT, just off the coast of Manhattan. Worse, as you saw at the end of the gameplay video, Spider-Man is no match on his own in the one vs. five situation. These are dire times in Marvel’s New York City.

We spent a ton of time working with our friends at Marvel Games to ensure we got characters like Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, and Electro just right. Those four join Mister Negative as five villains in our game cooperating with the mysterious sixth villain that Spider-Man sees just before the end of the gameplay video. They all showed off brand new, original, and more powerful versions of their suits. These designs were careful collaborations to create familiar but fresh takes on the characters.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

We hope you enjoyed another taste of one of our blockbuster action moments in Marvel’s Spider-Man. This week we’re also letting everyone at the show swing around a section of our Manhattan, stopping crime, completing research tasks for Harry Osborn, infiltrating and shutting down enemy bases, and even coming face-to-face with Shocker himself in a climactic boss battle.

Everyone here at Insomniac is working hard to finish the game and ensure it lives up to your expectations on September 7, 2018. You can pre-order now – which gets you an early unlock of a Spidey Suit Pack, the Spider-Drone gadget, skill points to spend immediately on your skill tree, as well as a PS4 theme and PSN avatar.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

For those attending E3 – they can get a copy of the Daily Bugle that’s ripped from the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man the day after the RAFT Breakout. Even if you don’t snag that though, we have an additional Daily Bugle series that will be posted on the Marvel’s Spider-Man web page that shares some of the events that occur in the lead-up to the beginning of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Check back every month through September for new digital issues!

That’s all for now – for all the latest from Marvel’s Spider-Man at E3, check out our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages!

Cannot WAIT for this game!!!! Conference was weird. Content was AAA, conference was D. What was there, like 6 games? Amazing games, but still. MS showed 50.

Except Microsoft showed mostly 3rd party multiplatform games coming to all 3 major platforms : Xbox, PC and PS4, or they’re 2nd party like Cuphead and will come to PC. Even Crackdown 3 and Halo Infinite will be on PC. I double checked this too: none of the 3rd party labeled as “console exclusive” are Xbox exclusive. Companies like Square Enix and DontNod dispelled that myth with their own presentations. Microsoft was bluffing. Seems to me they’re more concerned with next generation already allying with studios like Ninja Theory to make legit exclusives so we’ll see.

Besides that, I’ve always been a quality over quantity guy, and for me Sony brought the goods. Nearly every game shown knocked it out of the park with stunningly gorgeous visuals and extensive gameplay. Especially Spiderman, Death Stranding (still don’t fully know the backstory to this, but that’s a part of its allure), Last of Us Part II, Ghosts of Tsushima, and Control.

But, to each their own. I’m personally more hyped than ever for the future of PlayStation.

Agreed. MS show was more smoke and mirrors, but the general population watching these shows are easily swayed and fooled by bigger – better. Especially when there were so many games that Sony could have featured. Also we have to remember that all of Sony’s games were in the same genre..,3rd person action adventures. My personal favorite category, but for those not into that, it seemed like that was all that was available whereas MS had driving, FPS, 3rd person, platforming, rpg etc.

What about the collectors edition statue and special edition PS4?

They said they’d be revealing the statue during the summer so it’s possible that they’ll be revealing the statue at comic-con. The pre-order bonuses come with the collector’s edition whether you pre-order the game or not and the special edition(I think) comes with the pre-order bonuses as well. However, for the special and standard editions, you might have to pre-order them to get the bonus content but I’m not too sure.

I was really excited about this one but after seeing this trailer, looks like Batman arkham series but with a Spider-man skin. same engine or a copy of it.

E3 is a gaming show! so Sony should have made a SHOW! just like M$. instead they offer a mediocre conference. If it wasnt for Spiderman and Ghost of Tsushima it would have been a massively epic failure.

What a fantastic looking game, I cannot wait to play this, I think this and Red Dead Redemption 2 have me the most excited about this year.

The gameplay was insane…it was par on par with Ghost but I think it was even better because of the blockbuster scene,we really need those back in games and looks like Spidey will deliver.I was really happy to see all the old villains and their models look sweet but I think you guys showed a lil bit too much…anyway amazing job. Can’t wait to play this baby.

PS:Was that Iron Man at the end?
