PlayStation Plus: Free Games for July 2018

Update: An earlier version of this post featured an incorrect PS3 title for the July lineup. We have updated the list below with the correct PS3 title for July.

July is almost here and summer is in full swing, so let’s take a look at the July lineup for PS Plus members.

But before we begin, did you watch the E3 showcase? If you happened to miss the news, PS Plus members can get Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 right now as part of your membership. This bonus title is in celebration of the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It’s available from now until July 11.

Now onto games for July!

First up, we have Heavy Rain. Experience the gripping psychological thriller that is filled with innumerable twists and turns. Spanning four days, hunt a murderer known only as the Origami Killer – named after the calling card they leave behind at crime scenes. Four characters, each following their own leads and with their own motives, must take part in a desperate attempt to prevent the killer from claiming a new victim. How this story ends is entirely up to you.

Next is the intense fighting game, Absolver. Go behind the mask of this customizable and fluid martial arts-focused action game. Players can build combinations of strikes, parries, and feints to make their own unique fighting style, all while exploring a dynamic world with dedicated PvP and PvE areas.

This month’s PlayStation Plus lineup also includes:

Since Battlefield 5 is coming out soon, why not make the DLC for Battlefield 4 for free for ps plus members? And since Fallout 76 is coming out soon, too, why not make fallout 4 a free ps plus game?

  Dice has been giving DLC of BF4 for free you should keep your eyes open for that and damn Fallout 4 is a perfect perfect game for the Plus lineup.Make it happen Sony.

Kind of a bummer month for me. I’ve already played heavy rain, totally worth it if you haven’t. Rayman is old news. I might check out absolver, it’s the only thing of interest or what I don’t already own or have played already. Hopefully we’ll get some good summer sales next month. :D

Holy cow. This is an amazing month. Heavy Rain is a solid choice and Absolve I did want for PS4 but ended up getting on PC. Didn’t play much of it there cause I just don’t do much PC gaming but it was definitely interesting so I’m glad to be getting it for free on PS4 as well and Deception is definitely something I don’t own but always wanted to try out and Zero Time Dilemma, well that’s just another freaking heavy hitter. Excellent month!

  Effing awesome game and totally worth playing! But, mind you it takes patience. If you’re one of those gamers who gets pissed and throws ur system, be warned. You’ll get pissed. Some parts are extremely difficult to get thru. Even on easy mode.

Heavy Rain is really good if you give it a shot. It’s not your typical “game,” more like an interactive story but it’s done really well.

Not too sure why so many people are complaining about Heavy Rain, or any game offered for free in general. The games released aren’t catered to anyone individually, so take it for what it is. If you don’t like it nobody is forcing you to play.

  That’s a good thing to note due to the fact that things aren’t free now a days but you do pay for the subscription to get these free games so In thee end people are obviously entitled to there own opinion about the new games but how Sony should listen to its community so that they will say with the subscription rather than drop it all together. (Run on sentence…sry)

  Yeah, that’s true, I think though that the total value of all games offered would match or go beyond the $59.99 cost for a year subscription within a month or two makes it worth it. It would be good for more options for community feedback but as of right now it’s kind of a toss-up from what I know.

Absolver is a great offering but enough with the crappy recycled games Sony,they aren’t games worth getting for free since they shouldn’t even be on PS4.Stop spitting in our faces shoving recycled games down our throats.

Deception 4 is a perfect game for the lineup so nice one on that one too.

The games this month are okay I guess…I’d like to see Battlefield 4 or For Honor come out for free in the next couple of months. Maybe even Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen, it’s a great game and I don’t think anyone plays it a whole lot anymore so putting it out for free would probably bring it back to life a little.

Zero Escape is a great game. One of the gems on Vita.

Man, ok, why does Xbox have a backwards compatible system and with there games with gold they get old Xbox games that are similar to the games in the ps now subscription service. I’m already paying for ps plus on a system that’s not backwards compatible please include ps now along with the other ps services like Vue and Spotify. Sony you shouldn’t need money for me to be able to play PS3, PS2, and PS1 games Xbox includes this with there Xbox live subscription. I’m about to quit

Yet Sony just screwed over everyone who preordered the Deluxe Version of Detroit Become Human.

It came with a copy of Heavy Rain. The other extras were and are garbage, the only real bonus was getting Heavy Rain.

But now less than 40 days later it’s a free game for Plus members.

Why would I ever preorder any non multiplayer game again, when Sony pulls this cr@p.

I had a few more Sony exclusives on preorder such as Days Gone and Spiderman. Consider both of those cancelled and I will wait till they are in the 5 dollar bin.

It doesnt do a gamer any good to preorder a game for the bonus when they give it away a month later.

To heck with Sony. I will save my cash or continue to buy games for my One X. And consider leaving Sony and playstation to the trash that they really are

Heavy rain is probably the worst game I’ve ever seen. But I’ve been thinking about buying absolver so I’m happy my birthday month has that game on it. Now I can try it for free with my friend.

Why are they not listening to the player base anymore?! Nothing but trash has been given to us for the last 6 months. Not a single good free game. Stop with the indie stuff and give the players what you used to. Big name titles. There’s so many good games you could be giving us that we would actually get and keep instead of trying and deleting. Keep this up and I garuntee people will stop buying that psplus subscription. The only reason most of us buy it is for the free monthly titles.

I’m fairly sure people are never happy with whatever games come out. Personally i’m really happy with these games. I haven’t played Heavy Rain before.. which might have something to do with it, but i’ve heard nothing but good things.
Absolver is one I saw ages ago.. was meaning to buy it at some point.. i’m hoping for something a little like Jade Empire.

I feel slighted for the fact that I bought the Deluxe Digital Edition of “Detroit: Become Human” because it came with Heavy Rain. This was just in May of this year. Now they announce that we’ll get it for free in July? It would be nice to get some compensation for my wasted money, but I’m not going to hold my breath. Instead, I will no longer buy anything other than the standard edition of games. Clearly, there’s no value in it.

This months Heavy Rain can’t be “purchased” because it already came with Beyond: Two Souls?

I didn’t know Beyond was also Heavy Rain. So basically we get one game that’s in reality nothing at all. One game less this month I guess.

So, are we not getting Deception IV then? The PS+ selection on the Store has updated with Extreme Exorcism instead, which is what the EU were getting in place of Deception IV.

After playing through heavy rain on launch the game has zero replay if you’ve done your choices. Just a cheap port that wasnt selling well. Great on ps3, anyome chomping at the bit for a ps4 redo, didnt really complete it the first time
