  • Looks like an Xbox Elite Controller clone. I wish Sony left the sticks and D-Pad in its original location, like the Dual Shock 4. This is 100% of the reason I use a DS4 on an Xbox One… I frankly prefer the sticks both be at the bottom. I don’t understand why that was changed on this higher end controller

    • princemohamed

I’m with you there, I also prefer the more symmetrical look and feel of the standard DS4 controllers. I can use Xbox controllers, but it feels weird to have my thumbs oriented like that, it’s a bit uncomfortable for me.

    • So then buy a Scuf Impact and don’t worry about it

    • It was made that way because the XBox controller layout is a popular alternative, and there are a lack of options for people to use their xbox controller on their PS4. BTW, this isn’t a Sony controller.

    • Agreed. I don’t like change…especially change that looks and acts like someone else.

Sony didn’t design this controller. It was made and designed by SCUF. Sony/PlayStation just put their stamp of approval on it which therefore makes it an officially licensed Sony/PlayStation product. But once again they didn’t design it. The company SCUF did.

That being said. I suggest you go on google and search this controller and find the “announcement” article from earlier this year. That article EXPLAINS the decision for the offset analog sticks.

In fact there is also a write up about this controller in the July 2018 issue of Game Informer (Anthem Cover Story) on page 36..
from the sidebar – “Why Copy The Xbox Controllers’ Analog Placement”

“We’ve done asymmetric thumbsticks – they’re not together like normal PS4 controllers – and there are a couple of reasons we’re doing that, says Scuf CEO and co-founder Duncan Ironmonger. Pressing down on the left thumbstick is predominately used for sprinting in a lot of games, but as you push down, you need a reasonable amount of strength to push down and be comfortable. It takes a bit of endurance on the thumb for that. We found that when your thumbs are extended, your thumbs have a lot more power, so off-center thumbsticks feel good.”

Personally I think it’s a great idea the My thumbs always seems stiff for playing shooters when I press on the left L3 buttons for running

    • Joystick and D-Pad in the wrong spots. Someone messed up the design. Unusable.

  • How about having a licensed Pro Control that is… You know, a PS4 control layout. Not a Xbox control with PS4 buttons on it. I like the PS4 control, not the Xbox one smh

  • Mine is arriving today. Can’t wait to pick it up after work.

I’ve always preferred this layout over the normal Playstation stick layout. The extra bulk is going to make my hands cramp up less too.

  • GentlemanYeti

Honestly, I’m glad it’s this layout. This is a far more ergonomic controller shape and button layout than the DS4. The only reason I’m not getting this is price.

  • Personally I’ve always favored the Xbox Controller and believe it or not it played a factor in my decision in 2013 in which console to get. I always wished I could get a controller with a similar Xbox layout while I played my PS4. This controller is for me.

    • princemohamed

I’m glad the option is available to those that prefer it. I personally would like one of these controllers with the more standard DS4 layout, it’s more comfortable for my hands, and I like it when things are symmetrical.

  • I’m confused why it’s an Xbox controller clone. If we made one that is a PS4 controller, I’d get one. Xbox layout with the sticks not aligned just doesn’t make sense and always seemed like a huge design flaw (among others) on the Microsoft side. Not a fan of how fat and clunky it looks compared to a PS4 controller either. Seems like a step down, not up.

    • princemohamed

I like the fact this controller has the extra features, but I would definitely prefer it with the standard DS4 layout. I’m going to hold out with the hope that they eventually make one that’s more symmetrical.

  • What’s an S1 button?

  • Looks amazing!

By this point im sure we’re all used to using both stick layouts.
Everybody is right though – two at the bottom is way better.

I’ll probably pick one up if the price is reasonable

  • The customization is nice and all but hows the battery? Any better than a regular DS4 or the same? Biggest thing I want from any non default controller is a bigger battery because DS4 batteries are way too small and they die so quick.

  • Will have mine soon. This is the best controller ever made.

  • bonghitz3033

    might have to get some

I find this reasoning fascination like if I site some line from an article it makes the choice make any more sense. I personally never have thumb strength issues on either my ds4 or Xbox controller… so not totally sure why people need thumb relaxation so much that they’d step away entirely from the playstation format.

    • JayBizzle311

It’s not my reasoning.. I’m simply stating what they said… I personally could care less.. PS4 controller, Xbox controller, Switch Pro Controller, OG Nintendo Controller, Sega Controller, Dual Shock 1-3, Dreamcast Controller, Mouse, Keyboard, Joystick, Racing Wheel, etc, etc…..

I’ve used them all in my 34 years. You’ll use whatever you want when you want to play.

But the point I’m trying to make is everyone screams SONY copies XBOX.. blah blah blah.. No one does research.. If you simply look up the information I provided you’ll see that it’s all created and made by SCUF not SONY… But nope no one stops and realizes that they just continue to scream SONY copies XBOX.

  • From the photos it looks as if it has no light, meaning it won’t work with VR. Also, does it have a speaker? I was looking at some custom PS4 controllers on Amazon. Like this one, they looked as if they had a speaker, but in fact they didn’t.

  • whereymyconary

I find this controller fascinating… since if a person is a PS4 gamer they probably are used to the PS4 button layout… so the devs thought, “what’s would make a playstation gamer happy… an Xbox elite controller with a playstation logo on it”… I mean why aren’t the buttons swappable at least or not well an Xbox elite rebranded. I own an Xbox, and I primarily game on my PS4 since I like the controller and system more … not the logo.

  • $200

    For a controller.

    ROFLMAO

    Sorry…For an XBOX controller.

Needed a good laugh on a Thursday morning! Thank you so much.

Maybe it is sponsored by Windows LMAO

Bill Gates approves this message ROFLMAO

  • That’s because Sony likes to screwup everything. Just like they did with the playstation vita putting the wrong kind memory card and destroying the whole system the switch is what the playstation vita should have been. Other then it had the damn analog sticks in the wrong place. They need to let me design a controller that would be awesome I think I can fix all their problems and I playstation vita to it could have been the switch. But playstation is becoming short sighted. Please I can help you.

  • KazeEternal

Can we get a first party ds4 pro with rear paddles and analog trigger throw adjustments. I don’t need half of what this thing is offering and care even less about changing faceplates. If you really want to make me happy with the DS5 make remappable r4, L4 paddles on the back like the scuff that don’t suck. It would be nice to have two extra buttons anyway. Maybe look at swappable analog stick nubs. Modding the sticks with something similar to the Xbox pro controller was one of the best things I’ve done to my ds4 after swapping the battery out for a higher capacity one. Also get the developers to better utilize context swipes on the touch pad. Why am I fulling around with so many dpad option wheels when the touch pad is there. Looking at you overwatch and destiny.

  • Simply amazing to see how many dummies are on ps. First… as someone already said… this is scuf design, not ps. Secondly, if you want a scuf as a reg ps4 controller… both their website! They have them. Thirdly.. if you don’t like it.. don’t buy it. Im sure most of you couldn’t even afford the scuf vantage. As for me… i customized my own and just awaiting the shipping.

  • Jisatsu_Kiddo

Why mimic a bad controller? Yes, I have had an xbox since the original Duke days and that was terrible also. If there is one thing Sony nailed super early on was the gamepad design.

  • longballburrell

No thanks. I prefer Playstation controllers. Not a big Xbox fan.

  • Oh, yay. More pictures of this ugly controller for cheaters.

  • when does shipping to Germany?
