  • There is a typo in the list, is not: “Grand Theft Auto”, the right title is: “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night”.
    Anyone can make mistakes.

  • Crash Team Racing? Silent Hill? Castlevania SotN? Parasite Eve? Parappa? Gran Turismo? Spyro?

I think I’ll be buying those on my PS3 and skip the Classic.

  • Heavy-hitters that put PlayStation on the map are missing;

    -Tomba 2
    -Tiny Tank
    -Jersey Devil
    -Croc: Legend of Gobbo
    -Bloody Roar
    -Jet Moto
    -Vigilante 8
    -Test Drive 4-5
    -Revolt RC racing
    -Driver 2

  • Let’s not forget Need for Speed: High Stakes
Or NFS III when you went to the credits you would see all the developers displayed with their own driver’s license and photo… Which I think was pretty cool for the time.

  • Little bummed that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night didn’t make the list. But I’m lovin’ most of the titles that are on the list!

  • Crash Team Racing please.

  • No sports games? Wow!

  • OMG I pre-ordered mine already. Can’t wait to get my hands on it! Brings back memories :’) Going to be spending endless hours on FFVII… Again!

    • I do love FF7 but if that is the only reason youd buy the classic id say go the cheaper route and just get it on Vita, PSP, PS3, PS4, or PC

  • No Medievil? No blood omen or soul reaver? No Tomba? No Legend of Dragoon? Seriously wtf Sony…..pass on that.

  • Kind of a missed opportunity to provide an English-translated Tobal 2. And Battle Arena Toshinden might look even worse next to Tekken 3, even though the first Toshinden probably *is* the best. I still think it’s fun anyway. Though I’d have preferred Bloody Roar if it were available.

On the plus side, this version of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo still holds up today, despite not having an “instant drop” mechanic. I think only the PlayStation port had the remixed soundtracks; later ports seemed to have removed them, plus a lot of other extras and even things like multiple winning quotes or the ability for Dan to taunt more than once per round.

  • was hoping for D

  • Pre order canceled, for a console filled with classics, this lineup is a spit in the face. You should have asked gamers what they wanted. MGS was a good choice, but no Symphony of the Night? An Alpha game, MK3, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil 2, Rage Racer, Klonoa… I don’t get it.

  • i’ll be cancelling my pre-order now. thanks for saving me $100 sony lol.

  • Nice line up of games but Sony played it safe. I have 15 of these already but since it’s a “mini” I must have it!

  • Awesome the game list has finally been released. I was strating to think Sony forgot lol.

As for the quality and selection of game’s on the list…

I’m actually fine with it concidering I own physical copies of many ‘should have made the list’ games, that I don’t need a digital copy of.

What about Diablo? Could have marketed the PS Classic around that game alone. (I still play D1 upscaled on PS3. Its amazing, and works with D-Pad no problem)

Just had to throw D1 in the hat, as I don’t really want to pay $100 plus for a new PS1 disk if something bad happens to mine :/

Pre-Ordered the day after ithe was announced. I’m very excited and looking forward to picking it up Dec. 3rd. Will be playing some games I’ve never played before, so I’m happy.

    Thanks for the games list…finally!

  • Why does Japan get Parasite Eve and not the US? oh well, at least there’s still my vita, PS3, and emulators

  • Dear playstation is there any possibility to have a different selection of games? These games are very disappointing and I no longer want to keep my pre-order, I really wish the Japanese version has an English option as at least they have parasite eve, I don’t think this list represents the original playstation at all, it’s just a cash grab with half the games being filler

  • Shut up and take my money!!!!!

  • Hmm, aside from 3-4 games, that’s pretty bad. There are titles in there that is in no way a representation of what was console all about. There are so many great titles missing like Crash Bandicoot, Crash Team Racing, Driver, Resident Evil 2, Breath of Fire, Fighting Force, Megaman Legends, Vagrant Story, Legend of Dragoon, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Tomb Raider 2, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role, Medal of Honor, Wipeout 3,Tenchu 2, Ace Combat 2 or Wipeout 3? Come on, it’s like you’re not even trying. I would have considered a purchase if you had Parasite Eve like the Japanese version has, but like this. Yeah, no.

  • Fine list. Not the greatest, but I’m sure they tried to get Crash and Spyro on it only to be denied. Not having the dualshock controllers is unfortunate and disappointing. I will keep my pre-order, however. I get to beat FF7 for the millionth time. Lol.

  • Ok list, really wish Tenchu made the cut. Still gettn this as i am an avid ps collector. But sony you could of done better.

  • I’m dissapointed because almost all these games are on the PSstore compatible with PS3, PSP and PSVita/TV for 6 bucks.
Feels like a wasted opportunity to revitalize, promote and rebrand the PSTV as a bundled package with either a voucher to link the games to your account or have a card with the games pre-installed. Could even have kept the mini PS1 shell as a celebratory model to keep the collectible factor up.

  • Some odd choices here that seem to be more filler than anything. Obviously there are issues with licensing, royalties, rights etc. with a lot of the PS1’s library, but still I expected more… Also, the lack of analog sticks will make some of these games a b!tc# to control!

  • That is a very bad lineup. Trade anything that has a sequel, for the sequel (ie: Twisted Metal), trade Destruction Derby for Parasite Eve. Delete the sports and fighting games. Get Rhapsody

  • Sorry Sony I am going to cancel my preorder that list of games is not acceptable.

  • It’s a good list of games, for sure. Sadly I’m not really excited for this list so I won’t purchase.

  • Should have gone the memory card route with bundled games.

Would of been cool to buy different collections, especially with this pretty mediocre list that feels pretty random for the most part.

Seriously, SONY should consider releasing future packs/collections/bundles/etc on Memory card shaped USB drives that plug into the PS Classic.

This suggestions free SONY: Ultimate Sports Pack, the Complete Star Wars Collection, the Platforming Bundle!, etc…

    Look into it!

  • If there is a disappointment to many people, perhaps Sony will release another PS1 Classic as there were 2 astheticly different models. I personally would pick it up if the game selaction was different. Great way to make more money. Release it with a single DS1, sell the the other controller extra. Done deal. $$$$$ Then of course they do 2 different PS2 Classics. MORE GAMES. MORE MONEY. MORE PROFIT. Please Sony I have cash to give. Make all the Classics then UNVEIL THE PS5!!

  • Heart of darkness

  • No Crash, Spyros, Wipeouts or Twisted Metal 2? Games like Mr. Driller and Puzzle Fighter which I don’t even really associate with the PlayStation brand (they certainly weren’t exclusive)? This thing is a hard sell even if I wasn’t still mad about the defunct PlayStation TV never getting any kind of support and being dropped almost immediately.

  • This list according to me is very poor. The only game I am interested is Revelations: Persona. FF7 I already have, MGS is ok, Resident Evil is HD remastered, already own Wild Arm, and the rest I have no interest in. Sorry to say, I’m going to cancel my preorder. Not worth $100 ($130 CAD) for me. They need to get rid of the sports, racing, or cheap games to make this classic edition worth while for being the most expensive classic console so far. At most, I guess I’ll wait for a $50 price tag before possibly picking this thing up. Hopefully they provide a better list for a possible PS2 classic.

  • this is a good list

HOWEVER many system-defining classics are missing which is a shame

perhaps sony has bigger plans for them?

    (remasters or ports)

  • Will probably cancel preorder. Had high hopes but just SO MANY glaring omissions.

Castlevania Requiem now out explains the lack of Symphony of the Night, but we could have gotten Castlevania Chronicles.

No Street Fighter (Alpha 3), Mortal Kombat (Trilogy), and Soul Blade would have been a no brainer especially with Soul Calibur VI just out. Guilty Gear a long shot.

Twisted Metal 1 over the better 2 or 3?

    No Warhawk, Wipeout, or MeDIEval.

Syphon Filter and Rainbow 6 so we can remember how garbage shooting games were back then.

Intelligent Qube and Mr. Driller good examples of a games nobody asked for.

Japanese version gets SaGa Frontier. Chrono Cross, Brave Fencer Musashi, and Xenogears remain ignored. Einhander remains forgotten.

Suikoden 1 & 2 I also feel are long shots and niche along with Breath of Fire 3. With Mega Man hot now, I’d hoped Mega Man Legends would have made an appearance especially since it wasn’t analog.

Speaking of analog, it’d have been nice to have Ape Escape but they wanted to cheap out and not even give us easy Dualshock 3/4 support. I’d rather have 1 analog than two digital onlys, especially with the lack of fighting games and Ridge Racer 4.

  • The best deal is to buy a PSone, PS2 or PS3 and buy the games want dirt cheap… There’s really zero need for these goofy miniature consoles. They are so limited for what you’re paying. It doesn’t make any sense at all. Once you play through the games, that’s it. You’re done.. you can’t add more. What’s the point? At least with full-blown consoles you can play an infinite number of classic games. Don’t say it’s because this is cheaper, it certainly isn’t cheaper by any stretch of the imagination.

  • I was really excited for this but this is a $60-$70 value; I can’t justify $99 for this line-up. I like a few and was excited to try Wild Arms; but I was also excited to try Silent Hill and this was on nearly everyone’s list. No Simpony of the Night is the biggest deal breaker though. I love the Nintendo classics but they spared no expense and really understood their audience. The fact that Resident Evil 1 and Twisted Metal 1 were picked over their sequels just drives home the “cash grab” feel to this whole thing. Get better games or drop the price and I’m there but it’s not a good value as is.

  • PS1 is my Best, Favorite console of All-Time (SNES 2nd) with a humongous amount of mind-blowing games & franchises that I love so dearly to this day! My PS1 moments are my fond real-gaming memories. With all of that being said, & also while I’m at the same page with the idea of “1 game per franchise” for a collection such as this in order to be able to achieve a balance of variety, but I’m very disappointed with this list of 20 games, they’re highly questionable at the very least. I don’t care about literally half of the list.

While I understand that it’s all about business (which is annoying, but I get it), such as no RE2 because of the upcoming RE2 Remake, no Castlevania SOTN because of the Requiem Remaster bundle, no Street Fighter nor Mega Man nor Crash because of the Remaster bundles, but why these 10 games when PS1 has installment(s) of Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve (even the Japanese version has this 1 – smh -), Tenchu, Koudelka, Clock Tower, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, The Legend Of Dragoon, Suikoden, Soul Blade/ Soul Edge, Gran Turismo, Jet Moto, etc? So No Thank You! I still love PlayStation though.

  • I knew it wasn’t going to happen, since it’s already out for the PlayStation 4 and possibly already the Xbox One or whatever. But I was dreaming and really hoping that Crash Bandicoot would have been on there because that’s the main game I ever played on my first PlayStation. Also it’s missing Spyro the Dragon though and Tomb Raider but of course you know since also Tomb Raider is a newer ones who were the course that wasn’t going to be on there.

    • Really sucks too because I don’t even know if I can cancel my pre-order but I’m going to try, sorry PlayStation I love you guys still!

  • I don’t see any Spyro games, The Lost World Jurassic Park for PS1 and of course…Einhänder. will neither these 3 games will included later? Cuz idk if i wanna buy it or not??

  • The three definitely is one of the main reason this system not
Worth $100 and and it’ll sell but not a big foot print and will not be highly value as a collector item will not make the money like Nintendo classic system I bin with PlayStation since the first system the first generation not the slim and you put one of the most boring game in the system is like spitting in the face of the original PlayStation Fan very disrespectful but I still preordered it
And barely meet my requirements because dose have 8 great games their were more popular games than most of the game chosen so you put 2 on 2 together most of the people that made this system probably wasn’t even around the company when the original play station was around should of done your research aka google very easy basically was thinking buy a second new to give more support I get it of eBay used for when the system gets modded and it will be the only selling point for most to put the games that should of bin on the system in the first place but all in all you new comers kinda disrespect my child hood gaming system I know a lot of the original gamers fill the same

  • Where is Pepsi man???

  • This list of games is garbage. Very disappointed. I’m better of going to a used game store Ebay or something and buying games and playing on the ps3.

  • This list of games is garbage. Very disappointed. I’m better off going to a used game store Ebay or something and buying games and playing on the ps3.

  • Hmmm…..hmmmm….. the list is okay, but nothing more. No Symphony of the night, no Tomb Raider, no Suikoden, no Tony Hawk and so on. Sorry, but Nintendo did it way better, twice.

  • if it can be connect to psn store, that would be nice..

  • It can’t provide too many hours of fun, what with there not being a power cord included.

  • Medal of Honor should be on this list. A true genre defining game with no equal at the time.

  • It’s easy to say “this game list sucks” but there’s like 2000 games for the PS1, they were never going to make everyone happy. That said, I’m looking forward to this getting out in the wild so there’s another high-quality PS1 emulator out there. Heck, this thing is probably a locked-down PSTV.

  • To be honest this really is a skimpy and lackluster selection of games because the one that shouldn’t be there is Mr Driller now if I wanted a Puzzle game on there I would have liked to see Tetris Plus and maybe sony should’ve put 25 instead of 20 games on this because where’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night,Crash Bandicoot,Tomb Raider,Dino Crsis, and Crash Team Racing

I can understand licensing for Sport Games are a living nightmare to deal with but games like Game Day 98,or NBA Shootout 99 could’ve gotten on the PS Classic due to 989 Studios/989 Sports isn’t even in business anymore.

Now if Sony could’ve but the games that requires the Dual shock then they should’ve been able to make the dual shock 4 interact with it or have the PS4 interact with the PS Classic because there is somewhat the technology to make that possible.

  • Line Up is Trash, where is Alundra or Mortal Kombat Trilogy…. geeezzz You guys got 4 ( Wild Arms, FF7, Super Puzzle Fighter, and maybe metal gear solid) right .. the rest just doesn’t stand the test of time or just isn’t good at all.

  • No Tiny Tank??? Assault Riggs???
    Cmon guys!!!
