Players’ Choice November 2018 Winner: Spyro Reignited Trilogy

Our scaly, sassy little pal took home almost twice as many votes as the first runner up to claim the Players' Choice crown for November

Hot dog! Er, dragon. Spyro Reignited Trilogy is offcially the best new game of November 2018, according to the fine readers of PlayStation.Blog.

We saw some fierce competition this month, with the likes of Battlefield V, Hitman 2 and The Forest taking the first, second, and third runner-up spots, respectively.

As always, thanks for voting! What’s your prediction for top pick of December? Also, see you soon for Game of the Year!

Another month, another tough decision! I’m rather curious to see how this one shakes out, though.

It was an impressive month for PlayStation VR, with Tetris Effect melting minds, Beat Saber melting calories, and Déraciné melting hearts. The PS4 lineup was similarly strong, with big names like Spyro, Hitman and Battlefield returning to the fold.

Sadly, only one new game can claim to be the best, and that’s where you come in. Below you’ll find a poll — you probably know how those work by now, so I won’t bore you with the details. We’ll close ’em Sunday night at 11:59pm Pacific, so get to it before then!

How does it work? At the end of every month, PlayStation.Blog will open a poll where you can vote for the best new game released that month. Soon thereafter, we’ll close the polls, tally your votes, and announce the winner at PlayStation.Blog. PlayStation Store will also showcase some top Players’ Choice winners throughout the year.

What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? In keeping with our long tradition in the Game of the Year Awards, remastered or re-released games won’t qualify. Ambitious, larger-scale rebuilds and remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will.

How are nominees decided? The PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store editorial teams will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll. Write-in votes will be accepted.

I played battlefield 5 at the eb games expo in Melbourne this yeah it is such an awesome game I have always loved battlefield and this year they have gone on the next level of gaming . Unfortunately it was only on Xbox at the expo, (please don’t judge me lol) it definitely is worth getting if you love realistic war games

  • DragonUltima

  • mikegallego078

Hitman 2 was honestly a fun game, absolutely enjoyed it.

  • Spyro for sure

  • 76 FOR THE WIN!!!

  • JediAchless

    Spyro

  • Beat saber!!!

  • Verum_Sithari

Have to go with spyro on this one

  • Won’t win, but for its utter beauty, innovation, and emotional resonance – Tetris Effect.

  • Beat Sabre is by far the best game on this list, but not enough people own VR so it has no chance. Why even bother with VR games in these polls?

Fun fact: Beat Saber is currently in the top three…

    • Well, I stand corrected then. If a limited polling audience title is in the top 3, then I think that speaks for itself.

    • OK, now that the winners and the runners up have been announce, I go back to my original statement.

  • Spyro all the way. Best games of their time.

    • Oh yeah! I really enjoyed going back down memory lane and they did a amazing job remastering it. Easily one of my three favorite Platinum trophies earned this year.

  • Narwhalinator

Came to vote for Spyro. And let’s be real: If 76 or BFV do not make it to the top, then we know how bad they failed.

  • Gintaras1992

Fallout 76 is good game, i dont care what other say :)

  • VGamingFootball

Spyro, definitely Spyro. The nostalgia trip was truly a wonderful experience.

  • “Below you’ll find a poll”

I don’t see one but my vote goes to Spyro.

Hm, the poll is there and people are casting votes. Maybe try a different browser?

  • SunburstxWhirl

    Hands down Spyro for sure

  • Fallout 76 really shouldn’t even be listed here…

As far as best game it is really hard to choose this month. Spyro, Tetris Effect, and Beat Saber are all so good. I also really enjoyed Hitman 2, The Forest, and Darksiders 3. Decisions, decisions.

  • Spyro is phenomenal. Toys for Bob did such a great job

  • Hitman 2. Solid game! Gets my vote

  • Orpheus_Aeons

Can I give THE FOREST more than 1 vote?
No? Aww, well…here’s at least 1 for it.

PS: The Forest is an AWESOME game and everyone should buy it ASAP. Especially since the people behind it are NOT super-greedy companies scamming their customers 24/7. *cough* Bethesda & EA *cough*

    • Dangisuckatgamin

How exactly has Bethesda scammed their customers? Yes the game is buggy but they didn’t take any extra money or make the microtransactions ridiculous (like most EA games).I say it’s not as bad as people say it is…. you just want to follow your online Twitter clique.

    • Orpheus_Aeons

      @Dangisuckatgamin: you’re kidding, right?
You mean aside from the fact that ALL of their games are a bugfest and that they basically rely on UGC to keep them alive and/or fix them since most of the “base experience” is actually pretty “flat” without “extras”?

Well…you must be new to the Internet…or a Bugthesda fanboy. LOL

If you’re serious about wanting to know more though I suggest you say hello to a friend of mine called Google and go ask that same question over there. The truth will set you free, my man.

PS: you know that blindly defending multibillion companies doesn’t make you look “cool”…right? Just sayin’…

  • viktorkirov139

    Spyro all the way

  • viktorkirov139

    Spyro all the way!

  • SidNightwalker

Yeah awesome, another unfinished release in the form of BFV, yeah you people that have only played games from maybe six different series in your life are really enjoying it I bet, such minimal FPS experience as you really have.

Anyway, The Forest is a survival game that’s actually not completely terrible, an incredible accomplishment I would have to say.

  • AnimaHaynes

    Fallout 76 has my vote

  • Beat Saber all day

  • Didn’t Pokémon release too?

Just kidding. For PS4, I’d vote for Darksiders 3. Support the Devs that need it most.

  • Déraciné is so underrated, it’s easily one of the best adventure games and my pick for the month

  • How about doing a poll on whether or not your consumers want censored japanese games? :/

  • Senjutsu_Dav

There is no poll on the page. I’m on safari/iOS.

  • Terminator_0262

I have to go with Spyro on this one.

  • Beat Saber hands down. Might even be Game of the Year.

  • GlazniuxDFrost

hope spyro get the best game of the year is a amazing game

  • Please vote. Tetris Effect is my personal GOTY. :)

  • christian12749

I was looking for Fortnite, but it wasn’t there so I picked Fallout

  • Are these comments fake? People voting for BFV, Fallout? Hahaha If you voted for Fallout 76 you must be a masochist, or didn’t play the right game, if anything it should go for worse game of the year.

  • xXTheColossusXx

The tetris effect demo blew my mind so yeah that

  • theintercepter00

Battlefield v is awsome but the loading time is a bit long.

  • Awesomes0102

    Battlefield V for the win!

  • The Forest definitely. Best survival game!
