The Drop: New PlayStation Games for January 22, 2019

The highly-anticipated Resident Evil 2 remake shambles onto PS4 next week

Party like it’s 1998! Unfortunately, in this case it’s Leon S. Kennedy’s welcome party to the Raccoon City Police Department, and it was canceled on account of zombies. The long-awaited Resident Evil 2 remake shambles onto PS4 next weekend, set in the late ’90s just like the original PlayStation release.

Capcom announced the Resident Evil 2 remake way back in 2015, sparking years of anticipation with horror fans. The new take on the survival horror classic swaps the fixed camera angles of the original with a modern, over-the-shoulder camera evocative of the beloved Resident Evil 4. Now that the game is finally here… are you truly prepared to return to Raccoon City?

Catch up on the rest of next week’s releases coming to PlayStation below!

  • Can’t wait for RE 2!

  • Missing the Hong Kong Massacre game. Heard it was out 22nd.

Though could be EU first, then NA later.

    • I’m wondering the same thing. The devs tweeted it’s outside of their control, but part of me thinks this has to do with having “massacre” in the title, why else would it not release in NA on PS? Last I checked didn’t PS in NA censor content in a game that wasn’t censored in other territories? Outside of that I would imagine the devs would be more up front about why the game hasn’t launched here yet, maybe PS doesn’t want my money and it’s time to start playing games on PC.

    Where is Hong Kong Massacre?

  • I am tempted to get RE2, but I think I will be going with At Sundown: Shots in the Dark instead for the local multiplayer fun potential. Not looking for bigger games, just fun diversions as I work my backlog.

Will eventually come back and pick up RE2, just not in any hurry.

  • Fisherman’s Take looks intriguing, RE2 is a must!

  • i love rdr2 and someone spoiled the ending for me, and i lost my desire to finish the campaign mode. so, knowing what happens in RE2, do you think i have the desire to go back and re-play a 20 year old game? i don’t think so. sorry. just one man’s opinion.

    • When you get older and can’t remember the ending of games you played 20 years ago, then you can re-enjoy RE2 :)

  • Fisherman’s Tale, definitely.

  • Why Kingdom Hearts 3 is not listed?

    • SpaceOfSoul

@Criperro – believe the article is just listing games coming out on Jan 22nd, KH 3 doesn’t come out til Jan 25th

    • As much as it pains me to say this, Kingdom Hearts 3 US release date is not until 1/29. 1/25 is the JP release date.

  • Resident evil 2 and kingdom hearts 3 day one, maybe devil may cry 5 and sekiro if the game is good.

Everyone is excited for RE2 and I’m here like c’mon Senran Kagura. lol

  • I really love this game :D
