PlayStation Plus: Free Games for March 2019

Experience a milestone in Call of Duty history or explore a mysterious, uninhabited island in The Witness.

Two brand new titles join the PlayStation Plus free game lineup on March 5, offering dramatically different gameplay experiences. Let’s take a look.

Activision’s colossal Call of Duty series is truly part of the fabric of modern gaming, and it was in 2007 that developer Infinity Ward took the console world by storm with its contemporary spin on the popular action series it helped create. 2016’s Modern Warfare Remastered brought the classic back in full HD for a new generation of gamers, while respectfully retaining its first-class gunplay and brilliant level design.

Download it with PS Plus this month to relive a true FPS classic (in glorious dynamic 4K on PS4 Pro when played on a PS4 Pro system and a 4K display).

From the developer of the charming puzzle-platformer Braid back in 2008, creator Jonathan Blow promptly returned to the drawing board and spent the next eight years working on an ambitious follow-up.

The result was 2016’s The Witness — an enigmatic first-person puzzler set on a seemingly-deserted tropical island, dotted from one end to the other with a vast network of interconnected puzzles.

Boasting spellbinding narrative twists and an unbeatable sense of satisfaction in conquering each puzzle, The Witness is a benchmark in design and environmental storytelling. Download The Witness on PS Plus this month for a slow-burning test of the old grey matter.

Both titles will be available to download from PlayStation Store from March 5 to April 1, 2019.

In the meantime, you’ve still got time to download February’s PlayStation Plus titles.

’s heady cocktail of sandbox assassinations should keep you busy trying to perfect the flawless hit, while mastering ’s ‘Art of Battle’ for truly devastating takedowns will take time and patience.

If you haven’t tried them, then now’s your chance — they’ll be available until March 4, 2019.
As a reminder, PS3 and PS Vita games will no longer be part of the monthly free games line-up for PS Plus. If you haven’t added the following PS3 and PS Vita titles from the February games line-up to your library yet, they will remain available until March 8, 2019:

Any PS3 and PS Vita games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019, won’t be affected by this change. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same.

Finally, the PS Plus specials this month have some great titles including at 40% off and both and at 50% off. Act fast! The PS Plus specials for February are available until March 5, 2019.

We thank you for your support and we’ll see you next month!

Hollow Knight is one of those games that I would gladly pay more than full asking price if i could

The amount of content is worth (at least to me) much more than $15

I’ll definitely be triple-dipping with that physical Limited Collector’s edition on FanGamer

These are both great games but I hope the PS+ team can do something to offer more value in the service going forward. Losing the PS3 and Vita games hurt especially when some of them were Cross-Buy. I want these bigger titles on PS+ but I’d like to still see some smaller indie titles get included alongside them as well. PSVR games would be great too.

  • nextleveltaken

Terrible value going from 6 games to 2 for many people. They better improve this service soon.

  • The value of plus is 66% underwhelming this month.
Hopefully something is coming that will justify the changes that have taken place the last couple years.

  • I thought we would see an uptick in free PSVR games! But from 6 we are now we down to 2. I’m a little disappointed with the killing of PSVita and PS3 their is a greater void to fill.

  • Not a big fan of these gave the remaster a go wasn’t that impressed. Online felt different than what I remember from the original back in 07 don’t know if I will play it again after I finish up the story. The witness for me isn’t something I would like. How about gravity rush remastered or gravity rush 2 next month.

GR had already been free. You missed out bud, Maybe eventually we get GR2.

    • Gravity rush was given for vita not ps4

    • It was definitely given as a cross buy title. I had Gravity Rush for PS4, before I even owned a PS4.

    • After checking the download list, I’m wrong. The remaster is on PS4 and that one I bought. It was given on VITA.

  • Is it worth commenting when Playstation doesnt care?

  • Did not want to lose 4 monthly games for extra 90 GB of Cloud Save date I would not use.

Hoping, next month it is more than 2 games.

10 Dollar Price Increase should not be coupled with a decrease in Quantity of games while offering the same Quality as before.

  • wow…2 games…uhhh…wtf happened to the quality of PS plus??

  • Incredibly disappointing month – how is it that a few months after they announced a price hike “to keep the same great level of service”, Sony then announced that they were axing the PS3 and Vita titles? how is giving us 66% less titles the same great level of service? and then the first month of PS4 only, we get only 2 titles – one of which is a lacklustre indie title (in my opinion. I understand that tastes differ) and a 12 year old PS3 game with a new coat of paint?

Come on Sony – you’re better than this. this feels really disrespectful to people who have been loyal subscribers for years.

  • From 6 we are down to 2….. I think sony is back to its ps3 days where it sat too high in its Ivory tower and totally lost its connection with the player base.

Some would presume they had learnt their lesson from those days but guess not.

  • Two big name games that people either already own, or decided they didnt want them. I much prefer quality Indie games on Plus. Although eliminating PS3 and Vita and reducing it down to 2 games, they’ve really destroyed the value of Plus

  • uhhhh so my plus membership just lost a lot of value, huh? I’m not going to consider a remaster of a 12 year old game a AAA title, and The Witness is just kinda boring. soooo what am I getting?
