Players’ Choice: Days Gone Voted April’s Best New Game

The readers have spoken! Congratulations to Bend Studio, and a tip of the hat to NetherRealm for snagging the runner-up spot with Mortal Kombat 11.

Update: And that’s it for April’s poll! Congratulations to Bend Studio, whose Days Gone raked in enough votes to win last month’s Players’ Choice title. NetherRealm’s time-hopping Mortal Kombat 11 put up a fight, landing comfortably in the runner-up spot.

Now that we’re well into May 2019, what do you think will take the crown in our next poll?

Welcome back! Whether you’ve been exploring the scenic Farewell Wilderness in Days Gone or fighting time itself in Mortal Kombat 11, you’ve probably still got your hands full with some of April’s new releases. PS VR owners got some new treats too, with Outerloop’s Falcon Age and Zoink’s Ghost Giant.

But that’s not everything! Peruse the list below and cast your vote for the best new game of April 2019. Polls close Sunday night at 11:59pm Pacific!

How does it work? At the end of every month, PlayStation.Blog will open a poll where you can vote for the best new game released that month. Soon thereafter, we’ll close the polls, tally your votes, and announce the winner at PlayStation.Blog. PlayStation Store will also showcase some top Players’ Choice winners throughout the year.

What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? In keeping with our long tradition in the Game of the Year Awards, remastered or re-released games won’t qualify. Ambitious, larger-scale rebuilds and remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will.

How are nominees decided? The PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store editorial teams will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll. Write-in votes will be accepted.

Dangerous Driving was one of the most disappointing games I’ve played in a long time. Love Burnout, even don’t mind Danger Zone 1 and 2. But unfortunately this fell really flat for me. Anyone else?

    • There is something definitely missing in Dangerous Driving that was still present in the Danger Zone games.

I mean in terms of what made the Burnout games great.

  • Days Gone for me. The game is great as long as your not offended by a white male protagonist. There are quite a few bugs but none have been game breaking for me. Steadily playing through and immensely enjoying it. Haven’t gone back to Mortal Kombat 11 since playing Days Gone.

  • Loving Mk11 really fun so far.

  • Nothing close to MK11. Most fun I’ve had this year so far.

  • Been playing a lot pf days gone and loving it! Great job Sony Bend!!! I also been playing MK 11 and the old school nastalgia in the story is absolutely brilliant. Butbat the end od the day my vote goes to Days Gone.

  • My vote goes to Days Gone, its a terrific game.

  • Days Gone gets my vote.

  • The poll doesn’t load in Firefox. Works in Chrome.

So, what type of reward does one get for participation? I would hope for at least a free game related theme as a token to brand loyalty.

Nonetheless, it’s Days Gone for me, aka Money Gone, Significant Other Gone, and Life Gone, etc.

All you’re doing is clicking a button. You want a reward for that?

  • Days Gone for me! Absolutely love the game. Great job Bend! I hope this is a huge seller that makes a sequel a no thanks brainer.

  • Shout out for Stellaris

  • Best game of April came out the last day of the month & didn’t make the list – Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark. An excellent TRPG!!
