Blood & Truth Out Today for PS VR, Post-Launch Content Detailed

London Studio lists out 20 tricks to try in its new blockbuster and reveals their post-launch plans, including Hard Mode and New Game+.

It’s Blood & Truth launch day! After years of hard work, the team here at London Studio are thrilled to finally get our all-action PS VR blockbuster into your hands. If you have seen our launch trailer, you will know “Be the action hero!” was our mantra in the design of Blood & Truth. I see it when I close my eyes at night!

The game puts the player at the very center of an action movie where they are the hero. Alongside some incredible blockbuster moments, we also focussed on including some smaller touches to ensure that every moment feels as epic as possible.

Here are 20 moments in Blood & Truth that will make you feel like a true action hero:

  1. You can dual-wield a weapon in either hand and fire them!
  2. You can still grab ammo from your chest pouch and reload them, but for true heroics do it in slow-motion as you jump through a window or off a building.
  3. Reloading normally is for chumps! How about throwing your magazine in the air and catching it in your gun?
  4. Some weapons have extra interactions, which improve their performance. For example, put your hand over the hammer of the revolver to fan it and get a faster fire rate.
  5. Flick shut the revolver and sawn-off after loading them so you can fire quicker.
  6. Use your teeth to pull out grenade pins!
  7. There is so much fun to be had with grenades! You can ‘bake’ a grenade by pulling the pin before you throw it to get a slightly shorter detonation time.
  8. Roll grenades and bounce them off walls and they will detonate instantly if you hit your target.
  9. For ultimate style points, catch an enemy grenade and throw it back at them! Even better, activate precision mode and shoot the grenade before it lands to take them out! Awesome!
  10. You earn mods and gun skins by collecting Stars. These are awarded for mission scores, hitting hidden targets and finding collectables.
  11. We have silencers, extended magazines, sights and laser pointers that you can attach to the weapons in your collection!
  12. The gun skins are just for fun, but you can seriously show off by customizing your pump-action shotgun in hot pink or your revolver in classy gold!
  13. This deserves a special mention because nothing says action hero quite like the thunk of a grenade launcher. Particularly when aimed at a 4×4 or attack helicopter. You’ll unlock the grenade launcher when you play through the missions, but you can also unlock a sub-barrel grenade launcher mod for the assault rifle and semi-automatic rifle. You can quickly switch between the gun’s normal fire mode and grenade launcher with the Triangle button.
  14. If you just want to show off, hold down Triangle and flick your wrist to spin your gun on your trigger finger. Brilliant with a 9mm pistol, awesome with an SMG, totally off-the-scale with a pair of sawn-off shotguns!
  15. There are so many things you can do in the middle of a gun fight. Try turning up the car radio while taking out an enemy’s tire.
  16. Stagger an enemy with successful rapid fire and watch them clutch onto their injured limbs. Activate precision mode and land a lethal kill shot.
  17. Try out your music skills by cross fading and adding samples on the DJ decks in the casino!
  18. Getting headshots in precision mode will extend the time you are in it — so make sure you’re accurate!
  19. Give a thumbs up or your best hand gestures as you put a bullet into a gas canister.
  20. Knock down enemies in run ‘n’ gun sequences by driving your fist into their skulls, or for extra style, try pistol-whipping.

These are just a few of the epic touches we’ve included in the game to make you feel like an action hero — there are plenty more to discover for yourself when you start playing. We can’t wait to see you create your own action hero moments when you get your hands on Blood & Truth, starting today.

We’re also happy to confirm today that we will be supporting the game with free DLC post-launch, such as online leaderboards, new time attack and score challenges, New Game+, and an additional Hard Mode for those of you who want to up the ante.

So, get your hands on Blood & Truth, available starting today, and test your hand at the 20 tricks! We hope you enjoy the game and be the action hero.

    Free DLC = Great!
Paid DLC = Wait for a sale

  • I played the game last night soon as it became available to play. I enjoy the gameplay sections like I did in London Heist (part of VR Worlds), but again I really dislike any of the time I am forced to sit through any cutscenes. Please add a skip cutscene option if you are going to stick with sit-and-watch boring cutscene style of cutscenes instead of doing things like Naughty Dog does where most of the important story beats occur as dialog between characters during gameplay.

I played through the first two story chapters and looking forward to rest. Good game, just don’t care for cutscenes, especially the ones with that dude talking about something or other (I can’t be bothered to listen to any of his boring dribble) while we sit at table waiting for game to continue.

    • Pfff…really?…I hope they don’t add a skip option.

    • I take it you’re not a fan of the Metal Gear Solid games then LOL.

    • Yes really.

Chapter 3 (art museum) was 100% cutscene pretty much, but at least it wasn’t just sitting at table listening to dude taking interview, so that is less bothersome to suffer through although the pacing of it still felt too slow because you don’t really control movement and the things you did not all that interesting.

Chapter 4 (construction site) made up for it by being awesomely packed with gameplay (climbing, shooting, etc). Even the cutscene where you help “mom” escape stayed interactive and engaging.

Get to continue on from here tonight.

I wouldn’t put it so harshly, but I agree a bit. The cutscenes later in the game, like when you help your mother escape, are more interactive and better suited to VR. The ones in the beginning are just long scenes of you sitting down doing nothing other than look at pictures on the table. My roommates were watching me play and eventually left cuz they grew bored. It would be better to do Half-Life style storytelling where you are at least still in control.

But I get what they’re going for with the action movie feel, and it’s really fun overall :)

  • Sounds great, I had the game pre-ordered and played at midnight. Loving it so far

  • It seems like a long time from now but when I get a VR this game is a MUST.Blood & Truth along with Astro Bot and VR Worlds are the reason I want a VR.Blood & Truth specifically really looks impressive like a lot of effort and money was put into it…in other words a top-notch made from the ground up VR game, only saw that in Astro Bot before.Good job supporting the VR Sony, damn good job…I really wish to see more games for VR like Blood & Truth and Astro Bot in the future.

    • You should add Moss to your list. Think of Moss as closest thing to what a Zelda VR could be and ASTRO BOT as closest thing to what a Mario VR could be.

They are of that quality. Both excellent.

Don’t forget resident evil vr it’s also a must have

Well… I guess I’ll wait till the DLC is released to pick it up… Sounds like a good unfinished game.

    • New game+ doesn’t need to be there on day one. Witcher 3, God of War and many more than complete games get that as a free bonus months later just to please the fans. If you wait for life to be all out of surprises before starting it, you’ll never have fun.

    • whereymyconary

You have a valid point regarding NG+… but online leaderboards, new time attack and score challenges… kind of make a game’s longevity.

  • Everyone needs to pick this game up! A definite must own for PSVR owners.

    • There are some parts that I don’t like and some areas that could use more polish, but definitely something I think people that do pick it up will overall enjoy.

Certainly unique in the VR space of games.

  • Would this be the right place to report a bug that makes it so I can’t continue playing the game? In chapter 3, I died and then after re-starting the level I don’t have any weapons equipped so it’s impossible to get past the chapter. I’ve tried closing and reopening the game but every time I spawn without a weapon. Thanks and I hope this can be resolved soon as I would like to get back to playing this game!

    • By Chapter 3, do you mean Art Museum or the Construction Site?

    • I guess it would be the construction site. It’s the part where you’re fleeing in a truck.

  • I really need PS VR.

  • it’s new blockbuster LUL

  • Bought and downloaded but the game will not open. it shows a padlock on the picture. anyone have this issue?

    • JustinEdible

Yup, had the same problem, which was weird. You have to reactivate your PS license.

Activate your PS4™ as Primary to ensure all content can be accessed on the PS4™ you are signing into. Activation also allows your PS4™ system to automatically download content you have purchased or pre-ordered.

      1. Sign in to your account on PlayStation™Network under which you purchased the content.

      2. From the PS4™ Home screen, go to [Settings] and select [Account Management].

      3. Select [Activate as Your Primary PS4], then [Deactivate] then [Reactivate].

      4. Once complete, try again.

If you still can’t find the game add-on, check the size of free storage space on your PS4™.

  • Is it just my game or is every one else having this problem on reload it holds both magazine and weapon at same time, meaning you can only quit the game but now my weapons have disappeared meaning i am unable to play the game further.

  • Move controllers..
Ages switching PS4 Pro on and off & randomly pressing ‘PS’ to set up both, then one or other jerks about uncontrollably so reloading and stashing weapons is too hap hazard.
Frustratingly the game looks like it would be great if it didn’t add to the list of those games that the Moves don’t work well enough on. Curtains drawn/ not; lights on / not doesn’t matter.
They work on ‘Superhot’ & ‘Rush of Blood’..
