Gallery: Days of Play 2019 Limited Edition PS4 Console and DualShock 4

Get an up-close look at the stunning new Steel Black PS4 slim, available starting today during Days of Play.

Hey everyone! The moment I laid eyes on the new limited edition PS4 slim created to celebrate this year’s Days of Play promotion, I started asking around to see how I could get my hands on one. The good news is I found one and they let me take photos of it with my trusty Sony a9 + 90mm f/2.8 macro lens. The bad news is I had to give it back. Either way, I got some lovely photos of the console, which I’d love to share with you here. A few things I noticed while photographing it:

  • The bottom half of the unit is the standard black finish you may already be familiar with, but the top half gets a striking “Steel Black” treatment — not quite a full “matte” finish but not exactly glossy either. It’s smooth to the touch, but doesn’t pick up fingerprints the way a full gloss finish would.
  • The sacred symbols emblazoned on the top / front of the console have a gorgeous brushed metal finish, and when they catch the light juuuuust right… (you probably know the meme I want to embed here).
  • The controller looks similar to the Steel Black DualShock 4 you may or may not already own, but the four face buttons on this one have been given a striking monochrome treatment. Classy!
  • I really want one.

But that’s enough from me. You’re here for pictures! Feast your eyes below, or (some of which make for mighty fine desktop and mobile wallpapers, if I say so myself):

  • Please release the DS4 on its own! I’ve got a launch day PS4, and a launch day Pro. I certainly don’t need another base model. I do, however, need a DS4!

  • Thats like the best flavor ps4 ever made so far. Spiderman and starwars editions are up there with it also. Just the gun metal gray color on a playstation makes it look better in a house. More high end. From just a color. Wow

  • BIFF-A-LIFF

To me, this design is uninspired and hardly stands apart from the base PS4 models.

  • Love the power and eject buttons!!!!!!!!!!! So much easier to find!

  • That might be the best looking DualShock 4 yet!

  • Dr_Awesome81

It’s a black variant of an already black console while MS is pushing a purple Xbox. The PS4 has a much better lineup of games and VR but not a purple console. Purple PlayStation 2020!

  • So, when the standalone Dualshock 4 Steel Grey will be on sale? I want to buy one

It’s so beautiful and alluring, even to someone like myself, who owns 3 limited edition PS4’s and 3 limited edition PS4 Pros.

Dammit, Sony, you might be taking my money yet again.

  • This is the best looking color so far. Please release this controller by itself.

Can someone please tell me who designed the box art cover? I really love the “Triangle, Circle, X, Square” logo with the various game characters cutout and I’d like to use
it as my Twitter and YouTube gaming channel banner.

  • I really do like that Dualshock 4! Hopefully it is sold standalone!

  • It’s meant to be simplistic and neutral. It won’t stand out as much as other designs. I really like the clean look. True enthusiast would notice the differences right away.

  • This looks so boring compared to the blue and gold PS4 from last year. Should had just re-released that instead.

  • ElektroDragon

How about you release a PS4 Pro that doesn’t sound like a JET ENGINE instead, hmm?? Primary reason I went to dead silent Xbox One X as my main console.

  • I like the looks, but wish it was a Pro. If I’m going to splurge on another PS4 this generation, it’s going to be a Pro.
