In addition, a new road course has been added to the Sardegna track.

Also, if you missed any of the action from World Tour 2 at the Nürburgring last weekend you can catch up on all the action right here.

New Vehicles

In total, five new vehicles will be available:

  • Chevrolet Camaro Z28 ’69
  • Toyota Tundra TRD Pro ‘19

  • Toyota Sports 800 ‘65

  • Renault Sport Clio V6 24V ‘00

  • Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competition

Featured Vehicle: Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competition

‘The fastest racing car on earth, free from any and all regulation’: The fan car project of Red Bull Racing and Gran Turismo, has already produced two ultimate racing machines, the X2010 and X2014. But with the opening of the FIA Gran Turismo Championships, a need arose for a competition vehicle that both the driver and spectators could enjoy. This led to the birth of the X2019 Competition.

The X2019 Competition is based on the X2014 Standard. On the exterior, the front wing and the rear end of the body was altered to reduce downforce, in order to suppress the drastic change in aerodynamics that would occur in close battles with another car. The front and rear wheel covers have also been changed to allow fast tire changes. In addition, the 2-liter turbo is replaced by a 3-litre naturally aspirated engine, and a more conventional throttle system has been introduced in order to give it a more attractive racing sound.

New Track: Sardegna – Road Track

A new road course has been added featuring the island of Sardegna, one of a number of Italian resorts surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. Using closed off sections of public roads, this is a high-speed technical street course that features both long full-throttle straights and tight corners. In particular, the ups and downs of the latter half of the course and the diminishing road width allow for some real high stakes, up to the guard rail racing.

GT League

To support the release of the Red Bull X2019, an endurance series has been added in addition to seven new rounds across the other leagues.

Going on 2 yrs and we still get free monthly DLC. It’s awesome bc GTS was designed as an E-Sports title supported by the FIA featuring annual televised tournaments and events. It isn’t GT7, it was never supposed to focus on huge car counts and single-player content yet PD has continued to add significantly to these areas.

GTS currently has a fairly robust car selection, but the nice thing is that each car feels very distinct, whereas, many other racers with higher car counts do so with little variation in how the cars feel. Driveclub had a low car count, but the cars were so detailed and unique. I’ll take 300 highly detailed, unique feeling cars over 500 cartoonish or less detailed and less unique feeling cars. Any. Day.

GTS is probably the best racer this gen. In terms of pure driving, lighting, visuals @ 60, pad & wheel support, free content, UI, presentation, photo mode, social features, community infrastructure, competitive support, etiquette, skill, rewards, and class no racer comes close.

The reason GTS has sold 8 million copies is because it’s just a higher quality racer than the competition and rather than microtransaction, cryptocurrency, and loot boxes Sony has been supporting gamers with loads of free DLC from the jump.

Granturismo needs to reclaim the space it created, Sony needs to Help by adding more muscle to garner more car licenses. I keep seeing lesser racing games with Better car selections.

  • *sigh* seems like we’ll never get the Silvia.

    • I didn’t think the 86 was gonna make it so soon. But, it did! I think there’s hope for a Silvia… :)

  • I wish there were cars like the newer R8 V10, Ford GT, 720s, Senna, Civic Type R and brands like Acura, and things like rain and more off-road tracks.

  • Great update.

Loving the look of the new track.A little bit of El Capitan Vibe.

Glad to see another Truck enter the mix. Would be awesome to see a few more things like the 66′ – 77′ Ford Bronco (With Ability to open up the Wheel Wells), and a couple Jeep Wranglers.

As always, I will be grabbing all the Cars available for purchase, to play Exclusivley in PSVR mode. Would love to see more content for VR, and the ability to purchase all cars.

Keep up the great work. I can not wait to see GT Sport in PSVR on PS5!!!!!

  • This is awesome I drive a Tundra, now I can race it on the track!

Gran Turismo – PS5 = Career Mode, Championships, starting grid, Climate Variations, damage, Time Progression, HUD Customization, Dynamic camera, Replay in 16:9, Rotate external camera with R3.

    • 1000% correct answer

GTS was a competitive E-Sports spinoff, it was never intended to support the same amount of single-player content nor the same number of cars as a mainline GT game. However, PD has certainly rounded out the content with all the free updates.

  • So will there actually be rain in GT Sport? Or was that just a tease for the PS5 release?

  • !!!!

Just realized that a couple of the cars in the $10,000,000 and under club are available for purchase for $9.99 and $4.99. Thank you so much Polyphony. I only play this for the PSVR mode, and it is impossible to earn enough credits to build a collection of cars. Having them available for purchase is great, as I get the oppertunity to play with the cars I want, and help fund development along the way.

Now just open up the door to those $20,000,000 cars. I would have no problem paying $19.99 for the 1967 Ferrari 330 P4, and $14.99 for the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe ’64.

I just wish there were more classic GT tracks like: High Speed Ring, Trial Mountain, Seattle Circuit etc….

  • Update is awesome !!! :)

It would be great if French Canadian racers of Quebec could join event too, it’s been 3 years now that Quebec changed regulation about eSport to allow Quebec gamers to do it freely, but Polyphony probably never been aware of it. Till then we, Quebec Pilots try to reach eyes of Polyphony staff by every possible way.

Including here. Anyone at Sony or Polydigital reading this, please forward link below to legal department of GranTurismo to get it fixed, thanks you for any efforts to make it happend.
