Live-Action Thriller Erica Launches Right Now on PS4

Shape the story in this cinematic murder mystery, out now on PlayStation Store.

Immerse yourself in a mysterious and gripping story on your PS4 with ERICA, an interactive thriller which is available right now at PlayStation Store after its stealth announcement and release today.

This groundbreaking experience from Flavourworks marries high-fidelity film production values with engaging tactile gameplay and features a haunting score by acclaimed composer Austin Wintory (Journey).

Here’s what you need to know.

You’re in the middle of a life-long murder mystery

In the pioneering live-action cinematic experience, your decisions will shape the fate of Erica, a young woman who’s thrust into the middle of a murder mystery that’s somehow connected to her family’s history and the traumatic events that impacted her childhood.

As she meets a growing cast of old family friends and new acquaintances, you must separate fact from fiction, truth from lie to decide what is the real story that ties past and present together.

You decide how the story unfolds

Use your DualShock 4 controller’s touchpad or the touchscreen of your mobile device* to dramatically shape your relationships in ERICA’s multi-branching narrative. Dialogue choices will unfold seamlessly on screen as part of the ongoing conversation. Be warned though: you have limited time to decide how to respond.

You decide how you interact with the world

You can physically interact with your surroundings, and with a great degree of finesse. Carefully place a record player’s needle onto a vinyl, rapidly wipe the condensation off a mirror. Slowly peek through doors to spy on people unseen..

Your story, your fate

ERICA will play out as a live-action experience shaped by your actions. Any one choice can lead to a different perspective on the events surrounding Erica’s current dilemma and you can find yourself in wholly unique situations. As such, there are many ways this story can end. How it does is up to you.

Erica looks fantastic and $9.99 is an incredibly fair price. This was originally meant to be a PlayLink exclusive, but you can play it with a standard DUALSHOCK 4 controller or a smartphone.

I’d love to see other PlayLink games become compatible with a DUALSHOCK 4. I want to play Hidden Agenda with a traditional controller as it looks like a high quality Until Dawn style game.

  • Whoa! Is that price an error? Just $9.99?

  • Been waiting on this. Count me in especially for that price.

  • Does this game required to use phone for play ?

    • Would like to know this as well.

According to the product page on PSN, you can play with the D24 controller. I guess it uses the touchpad.

    • Leo_the_Lion25

It says controller or touchpad device meaning the mobile phone thing is option.

You can play with a regular PS4 controller or a smartphone ala PlayLink. It’s a fmv PS4 game with multiple endings that encourages numerous playthroughs. Your first run will take about 2-3 hours. It’s incredibly reasonable at just $9.99 and worth the purchase imo.

    $9.99? Done.

When is the app going live? I don’t see it on the play store.

    • mettreidici

I would like to know this too. Saw the link for IOS, but nothing for Android.

    • GeordieSteve1982

Yep seen it on IOS but not android why advertise it when it doesn’t even show up

    • They silently removed broken android link advertisement. I bought to use app with it now they took it off being android too. Why i always hate preordering stuff a mess as usual this gen. My friend loved it with iphone app said controller method not as good…. ack

  • Game is best experienced with phone, they warn you that witbout phone its subpar experience.

The app that is required to play the game cannot be found anywhere in Google Play Store. This is a complete joke, how can I get a refund for this game?

    • Bradley5314

You my man, are talking some bull right here. No where its stated in the beginning that its a subpar experience without a phone. Also, its not true at all as using the touchpad is fine, just played it for a bit and it didnt feel like a subpar experience at all.

Also you already downloaded the game so no refund.

    • Calm down! You can still play it 100% and there really isn’t a difference. Even if it was 7% better, oh freaking well, it’s 10 bucks!

  • So what i would have to use my phone and ds4 ? Would rather just have to use ps4 controller.

    • You can use the controller, but its not recommended as its all touchpad.

    • Bradley5314

You can use a DS4, and i personally would prefer that over phone. But you can use either.

  • All touchpad ? I thought this game was similar to late shift ? Reminded me of that type of gameplay.

PlayStation, can you please respond about the Google Play Store? Would like to play this game, but it is not in the store.

  • Same, can’t find the companion app in the Play store.

  • Where was the marketing or build up to the launch?
This game looks great but hard for me to recommend to friends with little promotional material.

  • Just bought the game but won’t play it until the app is live on android

    • quentinC-__-

Same. It would be nice to get some sorry of response from Sony.

    • killer666joe

Same. Sony needs to tell us when it’s up and running

    • Guess another game i bought day one to backlog to play down the road cause this the norm these days screw ups.

  • iamtylerdurden1

This was the type of move that makes me love Sony. Diverse and creative games and a surprise release announced at a gaming conference. Well played.

  • Are there going to be a physical release for this game?

  • Why do

  • Why is it required to click 216 times on the calendar to watch the video in this article?!

  • Another game tnat I wsnt to play. I love a good mystery!
