Patapon 2 Remastered Charges to PS4 on January 30

The ever-adorable Patapons return in a remastered version of the PSP sequel.

Patient members of the Patapon tribe, your rhythmic calls and chants have been answered!

I’m proud to announce that Patapon 2 Remastered officially launches for PlayStation 4 on January 30 at PlayStation Store! Please focus your oversized eye on our new trailer above.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Patapon is an innovative, rhythm-based 2D platform / action game. Patapon 2 is the second entry in the Patapon story following the original game, which was remastered in 2018. Patapon 2 Remastered is a full 4K remaster of the 2008 PSP game.

Cut off from their Zigoton compatriots after a Kraken attacks their ship, the Patapon tribe find themselves ship-wrecked on a strange new land. As their deity, it’s your job to lead the Patapon army using a variety of rhythmic drum commands as they encounter brand new enemies, allies and a host of new bosses as they continue their search for their promised land, Earthend. Combine the various chains of drumbeats to address each unique level, leading the Patapons to victory over the enemy forces.

Take part in more than 30 missions including hunting, escort, and boss battles, and explore numerous vivid environments along the way. Patapon 2 Remastered delivers a strong element of strategy by requiring players to properly customize and build up the Patapon army, arm each soldier with weapons and armor, and position them correctly for battle. For everyone who loved Patapon 1 Remastered, it gets even better with new Patapon evolutions, a host of new minigames and many more surprises in store, so be ready to lead the charge when Patapon 2 Remastered launches exclusively at PlayStation Store for $14.99 USD on January 30.

  • Finally this one comes out. Greg Miller will be so happy.

    • LOL, the very first thing I thought of. Can’t wait to hear him freak out on KFGD today.

    • Interesting how the trailer doesn’t show the “Only on PlayStation” tagline. Hmmm…

    • Well, it was from his tweet that I heard the good news. Never had a PSP or Vita, but my kids and I loved the remaster of the first one on PS4. Can’t wait to surprise them by downloading it without telling them. Once they turn the PS4 on … Pata Pata Pon

    • Guys, you know if we’re getting multiplayer on patapon 2???

    • Where is this? Why isn’t it in the store yet on the 30th? Another PS4 page I found says 31st, not the 30th. Maybe that’s a different territory? Will I be able to play this on Thursday at some point?

  • Cheers for GameOverGreggy!

  • I hope the audio is a bit better in this one. Patapon Remastered was great, but the amazing music was very low quality.

  • Didnt get the first one (at least not on PS4), but now with the customization aspect count me in^^

(And yes, I also thought of Greg when I saw this xD )

  • My concern is that Patapon 1 Remastered was almost unplayable due to audio lag. You could not time things based on the sounds properly. I hope after a few years later, this has been resolved but I will be soliciting details before I plunk down the cash. That said, if there are no lag issues, it will be well worth the $15.

    • Are you sure that it’s not the lag from your TV? I have the 1st one and it plays perfectly fine on one of my TV’s, but if I try to play it on my Samsung 4k it’s audio has a lag to it. If I plug in my headset on said 4K TV it plays perfectly fine.

    • For some people, switching their TVs to Game mode was much better. For me, playing with headphones was the solution. Couldn’t beat the final boss though

    • Like some other people have already commented, it’s probably your tv’s input lag. I used to play on a Sony X900E and rhythm games were unplayable (Dj Max for example). But now I have a LG C9 OLED with 12ms input lag, eg It’s perfect. I really don’t understand why Sony doesn’t push for better input lag when they own Playstation. Their top tier OLED still has 30ms in game mode, while again, the LG has 12! Anyway, point is, been playing patapon over the weekend and I cannot feel a lag.

  • MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

  • Ape Escape 3! Ape Escape 3! Ape Escape 3!

  • not on my Vita… sad.

  • Can we remaster all of sly cooper now ? And maybe ask papa sakurai to add him in smash ?

  • I need a physical copy of this gaming jewel pronto.

  • Friggin FINALLY! I was beginning to think this was never happening… Now get on 3!

  • When can I pre-order this? Only 1st Patapon Remastered is available to buy on PSN store.

  • need dynamic theme, only this reason that i decide no buy patapon 2 remastered.
    shame on Sony!

  • How can I get a refund for this game. I’m a big Patapon Fan but after playing the Remastered Patapon 2 with the sound delay I don’t want it anymore. I have my soundbar which sounds great and it is unfair to limit myself to just playing with a headset just to play this game.

    • Make sure your tv is put in game mode to decrease input lag. I’m playing on an LG C9 (game mode) and I do not notice any kind of delay.
