It’s finally here… Supergiant’s biggest-ever game, Pyre, is out now for PlayStation 4, and you can get it right here! And, if you haven’t seen it, check out our launch trailer!
We hope you have a wonderful time with Pyre, meeting all your fellow exiles, discovering the forsaken land called the Downside, and conducting the mystical competition called the Rites! Be sure to stick around for Versus Mode, featuring more than 20 different characters from the Campaign.
If you enjoyed Transistor or Bastion, then I hope you’ll have a chance to play Pyre when it debuts next week on PS4. Our third game is a party-based RPG featuring our biggest campaign ever, filled with unique characters I cannot wait for you to meet. You can get a taste of what’s in store in our launch trailer above.
My favorite part of this trailer is, it has more characters in its 90 second running time than you meet over the entire course of our first two games. And, it’s really only scratching the surface — you’ll see what I mean once you play the full game! For example, the trailer doesn’t reveal one of the most unique aspects of Pyre’s campaign, which is that there’s no Game Over — the story moves forward no matter whether you prevail or you fail in any of the game’s high-stakes ritual competitions, where the freedom of your fellow exiles hangs in the balance.
When we first revealed Pyre earlier this year, we got a great response to the game’s mystical purgatory setting, and its distinct blend of party-based RPG exploration and competitive action. We showed you a glimpse of the game’s ensemble cast, and the ancient competition called the Rites, in which exiles battle to regain their freedom. Through it all, one exciting question kept coming up again and again: is Pyre going to have multiplayer?
We’re incredibly excited to announce Pyre, a new party-based role-playing game we’re making here at Supergiant.
