The time has come! Gears for Breakfast’s critical and commercial hit 3D platformer A Hat in Time is now available on PS4 for $29.99. For lovers of Crash Bandicoot, Psychonauts, Jak and Daxter, or Sly Cooper, here is your next modern favorite!
A Hat in Time tells the tale of the space-faring (and surprisingly acrobatic) Hat Kid. A Mafia goon (without a spacesuit, no less) punches a hole in her spaceship, and out fly the 40 Time Pieces that power her ship. Hat Kid must traverse five large, luscious worlds — while using dozens of badge-power-ups and adorable hats — to regain her Time Pieces from the corrupt Mustache Girl.
Along the way, you can expect some high-flying and hook-shooting adventures in Alpine Skyline.
No wands, long beards, nor drawn out incantations needed here. Wizard of Legend is a no-nonsense, action-packed take on wizardry that emphasizes precise movements and smart comboing of spells in a randomly generated dungeon crawler you can go at alone or with a friend.
The dev team of Contingent99 is two high school friends who decided to tackle gamedev co-op style. The two are big fans of action and fighting games, so they’ve made fluid combat the main focus of the game. Think of Wizard of Legend as a pixelated hybrid of Devil May Cry or Bayonetta style hack-and-slash with Street Fighter combos and super moves.
Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape are some of my fondest PlayStation memories. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that our cute-as-heck 3D platformer A Hat in Time is the first of many games coming to PS4 through our new publishing initiative “Presented by Humble Bundle.” We’re working with Denmark studio Gears for Breakfast to bring Hat Kid and all her adorably stitched hats to you this fall for $29.99.
It’s amazing to see how much time and effort goes into making such a huge platformer with tight mechanics, gorgeously visuals and music, and a wacky story. Years ago, Gears for Breakfast threw its hat into the development ring, helping create a resurgence of 3D platformers. Since then, the Gears team surprised itself with just how big an adventure it could make.
