At Guerrilla, we are gamers first, and when creating games we always look for something that we would like to play ourselves. When we started development on Rigs Mechanized Combat League, it was always our intention to create an experience that harkened back to the old school arena based shooters. Those days when you would learn the arena by heart, and when a well-timed jump or a split second dodge gained you the advantage over your opponents. We wanted to create that adrenaline pumping fast paced shooter, and put you in the middle of the action.
In my experience, the creation of a game is a labor of love. It’s central to your thoughts for a couple of years, and all that time you’re surrounded by similarly focused people who you spark off, or perhaps argue with. But together you begin to shape a game, an experience, maybe even a work of art, that you can all be proud of.
Amongst all the excitement for the launch of PS4 and, of course, Killzone Shadowfall, here at Guerrilla Cambridge we’ve still been busily working away on Killzone Mercenary. We’re now very pleased to announce that there will be a number of updates coming over the next few months
A week after Killzone Mercenary’s launch, one of the great things to see is how so many different people play the game in so many different ways. Looking at the stats I can see that the M82 and the silenced STA-52SE are the weapons of choice for a lot of people, each racking up 5M+ kills already, but digging deeper it’s great to see that some of the other weapons are being wielded very effectively.
Players who purchase Killzone Mercenary on PlayStation Store will receive the “Blackjack’s Briefcase” pre-order bonus, which includes an in-game cash bonus and 48 hours of Double XP. (Please note that you must be online for the Double XP bonus to count.) Next Tuesday, September 17th, the offer goes away and users who purchase on PSN will only get the game. If you’re keen to go digital, take advantage before it’s too late!
We’re just a few weeks away from the launch of Killzone: Mercenary, but gamers won’t have to wait that long to cut their teeth on Mercenary’s impressive multiplayer suite. The team here at Guerrilla Cambridge is expanding the multiplayer beta to give the servers a good test before Mercenary launches on September 10th in North America for PS Vita.
