Hitting is such an important aspect in baseball, and it’s an area we continually strive to make as realistic as possible. Last year we introduced our True Ball Physics engine to the franchise for ultra-realistic ball physics. This year we’ve done even more work to really make this area of the game as dynamic as possible with true to life outcomes. Take a look at what we’ve done to make hitting in MLB ’13 The Show more accessible to everyone.

We really want to make hitting more streamlined for players. Beginner mode allows people who have never played The Show — or have struggled with it — to learn the fundamentals of hitting. It’s meant to teach you the basics of Plate Discipline, Pitch Recognition and Timing.

Baseball fans – it’s that time of year again… Major League Baseball’s Midsummer Classic, where the best and brightest will battle it out for bragging rights and home-field advantage in the World Series. To find out which team, the American League or National League, will come out on top, we’ve tapped the most authentic gaming resource available – MLB 12 The Show. So, what was the outcome you ask? After simulating tomorrow night’s 2012 All-Star Game, the win will go to the NL All-Stars, who will make it three in a row after a 13-year winless streak, hanging on to beat the AL by a score of 3-2 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

MLB 12 The Show Honors MLB’s First Pitch with Opening Day Trailer

The grass is cut, the infield’s been manicured, and the lines are chalked. That’s right, the boys of summer are back and it’s time to PLAY BALL as the 2012 Major League Baseball season will get underway tonight when the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Miami Marlins at their brand-new ballpark. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to see what the defending World Series champions do against a revamped and rejuvenated Marlins club that is chock-full of new talent. And Miami’s new stadium will be showcased on a national stage for the very first time. For those who haven’t seen it yet, we gave fans a sneak peek at the new ballpark in South Beach earlier this year, courtesy of MLB 12 The Show, here’s a link to the video.

MLB The Show Challenge of the Week Week #32 – Choice of Signed Baseball

Challenge of the Week for October 10 (#32) is the last prize related Challenge of the year. We come with a prediction for the World Series match-up. The Brewers hard throwing right-hander (1.20 WHIP, 201 K’s) matches up against the Tigers first baseman, who puts up consistent power numbers (30HR’s, 105 RBI’s).

Climb the leaderboard and get as many hits as you can to win your choice of signed ball from an MLB star- Hamels, Reyes, Upton, McCann, Matsui, Span.

Week #32 begins on Monday, October 10th at 5:30 am PDT and ends Monday, October 16th at 4:30 am PDT.

Challenge of the Week for September 26 is dedicated to the race for the #1 Draft Pick. Both the Astros and Twins are out of the playoff race, but are very much in the hunt for the #1 draft pick in 2012. It’s a consolation prize, but a prize nonetheless. The Astros power hitting Left Fielder faces one of the Twins best right handed pitchers.

Climb the leaderboard and get as many hits as you can to win your choice of signed jersey, from one of six MLB stars: Cabrera, Kershaw, Sabathis, Soriano, Ellsbury, Mauer.

Week #30 begins on Monday September 26th at 5:30am PDT and ends Monday October 3rd at 4:30am PDT.
