Since we first went hands-on with Destiny 2 back in May, I’ve felt confident that Bungie would deliver on much of what we expect from a sequel. The opening campaign mission was a roller coaster, handily dwarfing any of the first game’s main quests. The changes to the Crucible — from player counts to game modes and on-screen indicators — seemed smart and provided nuanced improvements to an already strong PVP system. But what about everything else? What about the connective tissue?
E3 has officially descended upon us, and there is so much to discuss that we couldn’t wait for your regularly scheduled Blogcast. The gang convenes to break down all the news from the incredible PlayStation E3 2017 Media Showcase, including our favorite moments from the show, as well as all the big announcements from our friends at EA, Ubisoft, and Bethesda. Plus: will Justin commit to a gaming challenge?
Across the diverse set of studios, offices, and teams that make up PlayStation, there’s one trait we all share: we love games. And since Horizon Zero Dawn launched on PS4 in late February, many of us have fallen hopelessly head over heels.
We’ve become enamored with Aloy, staggered by the scope of the world, and awed by the stunning visuals Guerrilla Games has crafted. Perhaps none so more than Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann.
A VIP finally tipped us off about the drop location.
He had been stationed at a small farm off a dirt road, a mountain looming on the horizon. Our task: approach silently, eliminate the relatively small security force assigned to the VIP, and escort him back to base for questioning.
It took us 45 minutes to figure out how to turn the microphones on, but when we finally did we discussed the packed release schedule for the last week of January, including Resident Evil VII and Yakuza 0, Sid’s love of pinball, and, of course, Sid’s continued tilt at the windmills of Darkest Dungeon.
Ahoy hoy! We’re only in the second week of January, so we feel it’s still appropriate to take the time to reflect on 2016. To help us do that on this week’s Blogcast, we were happy enough to be joined by the illustrious Scott Rohde, Senior Vice President of Product Development at Worldwide Studios. Scott takes us on a deep dive on his favorite games of the year, and gives us a sneak peek at what he’s most excited for in the years to come.
